The Shire Woodstock

"The room was very large and had a lovely view of the grounds and river. And having a grocery store across the street was a plus. I do have two suggestions. First, the room was not well lit. As I said, the room was quite spacious, but only had two small lamps so it was quite dim. There were many electrical outlets, so a couple of stand lamps would be great and not very expensive. Second, there was a lot of open space in the room, so a small table and chairs would have been great as we ate dinner in the room. I ended up carrying in a table from outside to have a place to eat and use my computer."

"Definitely has character. Be prepared for a very slow check-in. The floors are very very slanted. They highlight a New England visual artist in their lobby. It is clean. I've never had this happen in the US before, but they required IDs from both adults. They do not offer breakfast, but rather give you a $4.50 voucher for nearby restaurants which start at $8 - 10 for breakfast sans coffee.. The hot water disappears while taking a shower - I think this might be because others are flushing. .."

"I was surprised to find out that this property was primarily unstaffed. No check-In desk personnel, etc. You need to use your cell phone to get a log-in and information about your room and key code. (The cell phone service is weak by the way). The rooms were very good. Large, current, and clean. There is a 'help' kiosk and phone in the lobby. One service was helpful, the other was not (call center). There was a delay from the Hotels.com reservation to when the Hotel received it. (~30 Minutes). There was a cleaning person around, but that was the only employee I saw. Hotels are becoming more and more expensive. This presented one of the best values in the area."
