"The property was beautiful and immaculate. Great location near the St. Lawrence and very, very peaceful. Locals are super friendly. Host was responsive and accommodating. No complaints about the property itself. Fair warning for any families looking for things to do: you better bring (or rent) a boat! Otherwise you should think of this as a retreat where you simply go to wind down and relax. NOTE: this property did have 2 life jackets. When we first booked the place, the description said there weren't any. This chalet woukd have been even better if there were enough kayaks for each guest, so we can go on adventures as a family. Overall, though, it was a great place about 1.5 hours from Montreal, which was heavily dependent on traffic."
"William was a great host. Welcomed us when we arrived personally and gave us a tour of the cottage and property as well as a bit of history on the area. He even had a small welcome gift from a local shop for us which was very nice. The cottage is older but well equiped for your stay. Perfect if you are lookinh for the laid back, low key kind of get away and not something bougie. Plenty of beds and bedrooms as well as living space in the cottage and outside. There were lots of birds on the water out in front of the cottage every day including geese, ducks, herons and hawks. Also beautiful sunsets every evening. We didnt go down to the visitor center at the wildlife santuary until sunday afternoon but i wish we had of sooner because we didnt realize they do canoe tours through the marshes. I recommend looking into this ahead of your stay or going by early in your trip.I also recommend making the trip to Barabas brewery which is about a 20 minute drive from the cottage. Its a nice brewery with a super well set up outdoor space including a food truck style kitchen, extensive seating area, games area and even a station with water bowls for your dog. Try the raspberry sour beer. All in all we enjoyed our stay and for the price you can not go wrong here "
Grandfather's Landing, a riverside cottage nestled along the St. Lawrence Seaway
10/10 Excellent
"We all had an amazing stay at this cottage!! Check-in was a breeze, and our host, Francis, was exceptional. He loaded us and all of our belongings onto his pontoon, took us over to the island, and showed us around while explaining how everything worked. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it feel just like home - nothing was lacking. The WiFi was impressive and reliable, which was a huge plus when I needed to work on my laptop. We can't say enough good things about his little piece of paradise. Thank you so much, Francis and Lannie! You truly are wonderful people and we can't wait to be back! :O)"
"This is an amazing and beautiful waterfront home that exceeded every expectation. Whether you’re craving adventure or total relaxation, this place has it all. For thrill-seekers, there’s kite surfing, wake boarding, bouldering, trap shooting, helicopter tours and more. For those looking to slow down, you can enjoy paddle boarding, yoga, dinner at a local micro farm, sunsets over the water, and family time around the built-in fire pit. The host has connections to highly rated local restaurants and is more than happy to help with booking dinner reservations. The property is landscaped with beautiful trees and plants, and the expansive backyard leads out to your private waterfront. The outdoor patio, family room, and kitchen have gorgeous views of the water, and the kitchen is equipped with gourmet appliances. We also loved the top of the line Nespresso machine, Vitamix, and soda stream. The property comes fully stocked with water sports gear, so you’ll have everything you need for a day on the water. In the evenings, you can watch a movie in the cinema room on a theater sized projector screen with Sonos surround sound acoustics. The sofa-bed provides extra space for guests. We have traveled extensively over the years, and this is, without question, the best VRBO experience we’ve ever had. The host, Sam, was generous, welcoming, and attentive. He helped us plan a customized and unforgettable family vacation. We are already planning our return! Highly, highly recommend!!"
"I had to make a last-minute booking for work and stayed here. I met the owner—his name was Mony (pronounced Moony, I believe). I was late checking in, but he took great care of me. He gave me a tour of the property and let me sit and chat in the bar as he was closing.
This bar/hotel is very, very cool. I can’t recommend it enough for people passing through on road trips or bike trips. They have live music regularly and a beautiful patio out back. I will absolutely make a point to come back here on a road trip with my friends and stay the night.
Thanks again for your hospitality!
