About this property

Renovated train station on thoroughbred horse farm.

  • Welcome to Hutchison Station, our renovated 1890’s train depot. Explore the horse farms, Bourbon trail and central KY while staying on our working thoroughbred horse farm right in the heart of the bluegrass.
    Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890 and 1950 with passenger and freight service between Lexington and Paris. It was the center of the local community and included a post office, 2 blacksmith shops, general store and cattle pens.
    Hutchison station is divided into two ground floor apartments. The “Limerick” (named for Lisa’s event horse) has hardwood flooring throughout, 12’ ceilings and is furnished with local handcrafted and antique furniture. The Limerick has two en-suite bedrooms each with a king size bed. The living area includes counter seating for four plus table seating for four.
    Hutchison station is approx half way between Lexington and Paris-
    • 10 minutes to downtown Paris.
    • 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park
    • 20 minute to downtown Lexington.
    John-George and Sadie our miniature donkeys happily accept treats.

We've stayed here many times and it's always lovely. Always love walking the grounds to see the horses and the donkeys. Bring lots of treats for the donkeys - they will yell at you if you don't give them the proper attention.

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay at Hutchinson Train Station! The views were beautiful and the place was so spacious and clean. When we arrived there were fresh flowers placed throughout house and homemade cookies on the counter (our kids loved these)!! The horses and donkeys were so much fun to watch! What a great place to stay! The location is beautiful. We were there for the K3D and after traipsing around all day for three days, we thoroughly enjoyed coming "home" to our beautiful and tastefully renovated "train station." It was comfortable, relaxing, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The owner and his wife live nearby and were clearly available if we needed anything. His wife added special touches that made us feel very welcome. It's a great place to stay!

Spacious elegant stay in horse country

The property was immaculate and well designed. The view of the horse pastures was wonderful as were the mares and foals. Wonderful high ceilings and a light filled great room. My only critique is that there is no house number so it took a couple minutes to find.

Absolutely beautiful!

This property is absolutely beautiful. Clean, comfy beds, beautifully decorated and well furnished. Gorgeous setting! Only drawback was the kitchen only has an undercounter refrigerator without a freezer. That means a LONG trek back to the refr/freezer in the laundry room - probably not a big deal for most people without a "walking problem". Such a gorgeous, well kept property! Easy trip to super walmart and Paris.

Perfect Setting

The train station surpassed our expectations. Everything about it was nice and polished. The floors, lighting and many of the details were similar to what would have originally existed in a train station. The bed was very comfortable which is a bit unusual when it is not your own bed. We enjoyed walking the property and vsiting the horses and donkeys. Not sure if we will even have another opportunity to be in Paris, but we would definitely stay again if we did.

Donkeys & more!

What a great property! It was bigger than anticipated with large, spacious bedrooms. The property is very clean with beautiful wood floors. It is located right in the middle of horse country and an easy (and beautiful) drive into downtown Lexington (about 20 minutes). The donkeys were a hit with all and enjoyed the apples and carrots. Communication with the owners was very easy. You will potentially meet the owners and others working the property. All were very pleasant, happy to help & answer any questions. I highly recommend this rental! It is one floor with parking on a well maintained gravel driveway.
