Hampton Inn by Hilton Concord/Kannapolis

4/10 Poor

"First off, I want to say the staff was very helpful and cooperative. I have nothing negative to say about the them. The property, however, is in SERIOUS need of a remodel. It is a very dated. There were rips in the curtains, cracks in the wall and a huge patch job on the ceiling. The couch in the room looked dirty enough for us to ask for another sheet to cover it before we sat on it. The towels were thin, the toilet needed 2 flushes to work. The Hiltons need to live up to their name. I would not stay at this particular Hampton Inn again. For the price, $1200 for 4 nights was way too much for this hotel. Hiltons....do better."

"The room was very clean, the bed was nice and soft. The check in staff was excellent. Very quiet in and around the hotel. The location is perfect, about 10-15 mins from Charlotte Motor Speedway, Concord Mills Mall, and plenty of great restaurants around."

"This is less a commentary on the hotel and more on the lack of effectiveness of the communication between myself, Expedia, and the property. I had a reservation for two nights this past weekend, and my flight was delayed and ultimately cancelled. I used the Expedia app to contact the property to make them aware and to request they hold the reservation for Saturday, when I did ultimately arrive, since I knew I'd be recorded as a no-show otherwise. It is not clear whether this information was received by the property at all, and when I arrived on Saturday and attempted to check in, I was in fact informed I was recorded as a no-show and my reservation was cancelled. What is the point of providing a method to communicate with the hotel if the messages aren't sent and/or seen? I will likely not use Expedia again for booking hotels as a result of this issue."

"Overall, this property checks all the boxes: The property is well maintained, beautiful lobby area and views of the boardwalk. It's within walking distance of several restaurants with a variety of foods to choose from, however we did not find a breakfast place close by. This is also within a 10 minute drive to the Truliant Ampitheater. The staff was professional and pleasant. There were only two minor drawbacks: We wanted to take a look at the pool, but our key wouldn't work. When we asked the front desk representative, we were told that the pool does not open until after Memorial Day. Also, the morning of our departure, the lawn care service started edging before 7am. Because our room faced the parking lot, it sounded like the edger was in our room! This action didn't seem to take the guests into consideration. Despite these two minor inconveniences, we would definitely stay here again!"

"I wanna begin this review by saying that GWL Concord would probably be a really nice property for families with children, as long as the adults are OK with slumming it a little bit, every child we saw there was having an incredible time. 1. Information- we called a few times leading up to our stay to confirm, property details and policy. When we arrived, we were informed that all of that was incorrect and the phone team is often wrong, but we made all of our travel plans around that team feedback. 2. Customer Service- we had two check-in experiences. The first one was quite awful, the young lady could not offer any solutions and her only answer to all of our questions was to download the app. We waited it out a couple of hours, and then our second associate was much more helpful and told us they’re actually was a room available and it had been for quite some time, proving that the first girl was in fact lying to us. 3. Amenities - the only things provided are a small bar of hand soap, and then a combo shampoo/conditioner, and a body gel in the shower. No shower caps, no Q-tips. 4. The app- once you arrive on site, every employee tells you it is mandatory to download the app. There are literally no paper copies available, and nine times out of 10 when you ask a team member for assistance they direct you back to the app. I understand it’s for children, we didn’t pick it as our first choice, but the staff made it very clear that we were not the ideal guest or welcome"
