Great Hikers Hotel

The location and price were the things that made me choose this hotel. Close enough for hiking everyday and close enough to Lincoln to buy supplies. You get what you pay for is a good rule of thumb for hotels so I wasn't expecting much, but it was really good. The bed was very comfortable and there was lots of hot water, all you really need when hiking. I had booked four days, but it was raining on the last day and I got a refund with no problems.

Large rooms. Wonderful view of the river from the rooms. Close to all hiking / winter activities. Staff very helpful. The bathroom was perfectly clean, but the room could be better.

Would stay here again

Although this place was not "fancy" it was comfortable, clean and had a beautiful river running behind it. The place is an older place but worth every penny I spent to stay here. I thought the price was great ! We enjoyed it and would stay there again.

Beware of this Motel

My son and I checked in after a day of hiking in the White Mountains. This is a typical motor court type of facility. I was awakened at 10:30 PM by my son screaming. The room was full of bedbugs. I am a frequent traveler and this was by far the most repulsive experience I have ever had traveling. The clerk at the front desk issued a late night refund and my son and I were left scrambling for a room. Beware.

Great trip in the fall.

We were so surprised to see a very fast moving stream right out the back window of our room, it was beautiful. This motel was very easy to find and the price was good. Not the newest or most modern, but very clean and the people working there are very friendly.

Best Motel excellent location

The backyard for the cottage is the water stream with excellent views and in front is the scenic mountains. It is almost adjacent to 'The Flume Gorge' which is the best one with waterfalls and scenic trails. It’s not a five star hotel but the views, coziness and the location would easily beat any five star hotels hands down. Don't go by very old reviews which made me fright after booking it.

Good Location

Nice friendly helpful owner. Large room, clean and comfortable. A little dated, but that can add to the novelty and experience. Lovely river immediately behind that you can listen to from the room. Excellently placed for White Mountains. Good breakfast available opposite.

Classic motor court

Motor court with cottages dating back to the 1950s and a newer motel section. Stayed in a room in the newer section. Good condition. Nice setting, little traffic on US 3, a stream that runs in back of the rooms. Room looked recently refurnished with a new mattress. Office offers coffee in the morning. Good location around 2 mi south of the Flume Gorge.

Great room for the price

It was a great room for the price. Its not fancy, but if all you are looking for is a clean room to stay while snowboarding, its a great deal.

Repeat Guest

We have stayed at this motel on numerous occasions. It is not the most modern and one should not expect any extras. However, for convenience, comfort, and cleanliness, it is a bargain. We ski in the winter and hike in summer. When we don't want to travel home or setup a tent, this property is a fantastic option!

Cool place

My girlfriend and I needed a place to stay for the night when we had to go down that way to visit her grandmother. It was a perfect place to spend some time together and have a bit of a romantice weekend. The king size bed was very comfortable...I would stay there again.

Good enough for a stay of 1-2 days

The motel's infrastructure is kind rusty, but the staffs are nice. The location is good, close to the Flume State Park, and it sits by a river where I think is nice to have a BBQ during summer time. It would be a plus if the motel serves foods, although you can get free coffee in the morning.

Great service, but very out-dated

Let me be clear- I made this reservation last minute for my family and I was very quick about it (trying to save a few bucks). Probably the reason it turned out to be a MOTEL and not a HOTEL like I thought it would be. When we finally found it, we were a little concerned about the size mostly, but just looking at it, you can tell it is very out-dated (probably why Expedia does not provide any pictures). After debating for several minutes on whether we should cancel, we decided to stay mostly because it was really too late to contact Expedia to change our plans, and also because we have 2 small children who had been in the car for a while. The young lady at the front desk was very nice and I think she could sense my concern (I think she sees it alot). She accompanied me to our room and it was pretty much what I expected. But, like I said, we ended up staying mostly out of convenience. The beds looked and were VERY uncomfortable, the room and bathroom were clean, but the shower was just plain scary so we skipped it for one night. A positive was the peaceful brook running in the back which we listened to all night while not sleeping ;) Located across the street from The Whale's Tale water park and down the road from Clark's Trading Post. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Not terrible for a one night stay, but may be for those who require top notch accomodations during their travel.

An Old Fashioned Motel

The Motel is a basic, no frills motel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I enjoyed having a refrigerator in the room. What drew me to this motel was the river that is directly behind the property and can be heard in your room. Storyland is about 1 hr 15 mins away and Santa's Village is about 45 minutes away. The only con about the motel is that you cannot receive incoming calls and cell service is hard to get because of the mountains. It's a nice little motel for the money.

We would go back

The Franconia Notch Motel is an older hotel but we found it to be perfect for our needs. The king size bed was very comfortable and we had a view of the river from our window. Our room had a refrigerator but no microwave, but one was brought to our room when we asked. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. If we are in the area again, we would stay here.
