Disappointed with mouldy bathroom and servicing.
This hotel was disappointing. We selected it on a Lonely Planet recommendation, its location & awards for design. Unfortunately fell below expectation. Much effort & money had gone into the interior design & reception areas were lovely. We had a suite & the bedroom was comfortable, lovely light fitting. There was an attached sitting room which felt austere, although the ceiling was beautiful. The bathroom fell well short of acceptable standards. Although money had been spent on fancy corner bath and brass fittings the heavy presence of mould in the shower and dirty toilet bowl rim made this room unpleasant to use. The sink taps dripped constantly. The shower door did not meet the shower panel and so the shower leaked onto the floor. In this 4* hotel there was no hand soap or even tea bags. We asked for some to be provided the next morning. We were surprised to return to our room later in the day to find that hand soap had been provided & was placed directly adjacent to a pile of soaking wet towels & a bathmat we had used to mop the flooded floor with. Our room was not serviced at all. We queried at reception & was advised that due to Covid restrictions no room servicing was occurring unless by special request. Very strange to reduce hygiene for Covid! We did not experience poor hygiene elsewhere in Slovenia in lower * cheaper hotels. I think the hotel owners have prioritised fancy frills over basic cleanliness & comfort. Positives - location & lovely reception staff.

Overall, the property was really lovely. The staff was incredibly helpful and went out of their way to ensure that we were enjoying our stay. The room was fantastic and bigger than some apartments I've lived in. The area is central and about a block from the river front.

Much better experience than a business hotel
Great stay in an enormous suite, with great staff. Room is dated and need modernisation but otherwise comfortable and clean. Better than staying in a business hotel. Quiet at night though there was a huge noisy event by the bridge which was done by 11pm

The hotel building is a lovely old place with a beautiful courtyard but that's where the positive stuff ends. As a hotel it's simply not up to scratch. From the moment we arrived to no reception staff to the hot stuffy room with no air conditioning (despite what it says on the hotel's website) and windows screwed shut, no shower - just a hand held attachment to the bath tap it is just not good. Whereas most hotels have responded to Covid by enhancing cleaning this one has responded by stopping it, we ran out of coffee for the room and a request for more was initially ignored but then it transpired they had run out. In the three days we were there we never saw anyone who looked vaguely like management, it seems like the place is being run by kids and ut shows. Overall a very disappointing experience for a hotel charging these rates, I've stayed in better hostels for a fraction of the price. It's impossible to recommend this hotel, there are far better options available.

Hotel needs more maintenance and staff. No electric outlets inside the bathroom, curtains were broken, safebox broken. Location is very good. Maria at the front desk was very nice but the hotel feels like needs renovation and maintenance.

The hotel is in need of some repairs. It is an old building with minor annoyances such as toilet that runs and defective bathroom fan. The staff did there best to accommodate however. Room 16 is in the attic and one cannot get into bed without leaning over.

a lovely location in the pedestrian area. Placing itself as a top end luxury hotel, and many points support that: large room large bed kaviar at breakfast some free slovenian alcoholic drinks but it was not quite perfect: some large tears in the duvet cover no hairdryer (ended up borrowing one from another guest) stains on the chair

Antiq was in a lovely old villa and our two story suite was amazing. We received a nice upgrade. It did have some worn furnishings and no bar or restaurant was open in the evening, but they did have a nice little cart of a couple of liqueurs for guests to try.

Beautiful spacious rooms but no elevator for some rooms. level change between rooms create a lot of potential for stubbed toes. Nice breakfast. Good central location but pedestrian only area prevents cars from reaching front door to drop off suitcases without a complicated procedure.

I loved the historical aspect of the building and furnishings and the personal touches at reception, fruit and cookies etc. Housekeeping kept taking our soap in the bathroom which was a waste as we were there for 3 nights and needed to keep asking for more - we had an ant issue at the door and kitchen area - the shower door needs attention as it leaks all over the floor which will damage the flooring - loved the hotel though.

The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and outgoing to ensure my stay was excellent. The hotel is a charming centuries-old establishment that was converted to a hotel. I highly recommend staying here to experience a true Slovenian experience.

This hotel is not a spa first of all. This hotel is very run down and not taking care of at all. The bed sheet are torn and have holes. The carpets are gross and stained. Tiles are coming up off the floors. Busted light fixtures in the rooms. Not clean coffee and tea station in the room or in the lobby. Please do your self a favor and not get a coffee in the lobby unless you want to be sick just go look at the milk container that sits out 24/7. We switched rooms several times because of issues in every room. Just do not stay at this place unless you like dirty, broken, NO A/C hotels at a costly rate

The hotel was unique and did have character, which was one of the reasons we chose to stay here. It was in a perfect location and staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was not available during our stay, and we did not have any information about this prior to booking, although there was the opportunity to book a massage in our room, if requested. Breakfast did finish at different times, so we did miss it on one occasion that we did go down, but staff were accommodating when we did ask for hot drinks.

Superb location
The location was excellent and the staff were incredibly helpful. The family suite was enormous and very comfortable. Note that there is currently no spa at the hotel.

Loved this place. The staff could not have been more helpful, and went far beyond what we expected of them. Our room was huge. It could probably have done with a little fixing, but in spite of that we really loved it.

Girls weekend away
We were put in a ground floor room so was very noisy and we had to go outside to get to our room via a courtyard with lots of rubbish laying about and there was no external light until we had practically got to our room. Some of the furniture was a bit tired and worn. This being said the hotel is in a fantastic location and the rooms are large with good heating. Bit perplexed to find it in the small luxury hotels of the world....maybe we just got the crappy room. Did not eat in the hotel but when looking for the toilet came across a small kitchen area behind the bar which was frankly a health hazard with a grubby old dish cloth in a filthy sink, so was thankful that we decided to make the most of the wonderful cafes and restaurants locally. Very impressive entrance but the hotel sign was very small and not lit so we had difficulty finding it on our arrival as we did not arrive until late. Female receptionist had a could not be bothered attitude, however the male receptionist seemed to enjoy his job more. I could not tell you there names as they were not wearing a uniform or name badge. The accommodation was convenient and served it’s purpose just not luxury standard. The city is great and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Elegant but friendly
Room was quirky but comfortable. Had everything you need - enought sockets, place to work etc. Some nice touches like fresh orchids. The hotel itself has plenty of character and the pedestrianised streets mean little traffic noise. Had little time to sample the hotel facilities - I didn't eat breakfast there, use the spa or sit in the lovely inner courtyard.

Nice location on the pedestrian area. Wonderful staff, so helpful! HUGE room, but an absolute maze to get to it. I guess we got the cheap room that they couldn't sell to anyone else. NOISY every morning as workers were doing work right outside our window before 8 am. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Bathroom very inconvenient! No place to set our toiletries. Hubby used the sink in the entrance. The toilet was right in view of the entrance door. I got up one night at 2 am to use the toilet, and someone walked right in the door. How embarrassing! Assume it was staff, and not sure why they would need to come in at that hour. Not enough hot water for two people to shower. Was annoyed that one of us always got a cold shower. We did not try the breakfast as it was quite expensive. We got coffee and croissant at the cafe a couple blocks away.

Perfect location and wonderful rooms
This hotel is so close to the centre but still on a quiet back street its a brilliat find. The rooms are superb large clean and very comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Really couldnt have asked for a nicer place
