"Perfect house for a big family get together. Lots of spaces for people to gather or just do their own thing. The highlight was undoubtedly the large swimming pool where everyone spent most of their time. Nice outdoor dining area and BBQ where we ate most of our meals. The patio at the front of the house was perfect for sitting in shade when the sun got too hot, looking out into the green rolling lawn and a beautiful redwood tree. Lots of games for the kids and the adults enjoyed the pool table...

"Cadre agréable, calme, vacances reposantes, piscine raffraichissante. Propriétaires accueillants et discrets. Seul bémol, la location ne comporte pas deux chambres comme écrit dans l'annonce. Les couchages enfants sont dans l'espace salle à manger/cuisine et le couchage pour les adultes se trouve dans une pièce attenante séparée d'une cloison seulement au 3/4. Même si nous avons maqué d'intimité, nous avons passé un séjour agréable."

"Beware!! Do not rent this accommodation with VRBO. This is not a legitimate listing on here. We were scammed!!! We turned up and the managers knew nothing about our booking and had never used VRBO to rent it and it already had a long standing tenant there. It was a nightmare for us having to find alternative accommodation late at night after spending the whole day travelling there. It was a further nightmare trying to get the money back."

"We had a wonderful stay in Montignac-Charente. The apartment is a short walk to the town center and we enjoyed stopping in at the patisserie and the cafe. A full grocery store is a short drive away. Our dogs also loved long walks along the country roads beside fields filled with sunflowers. Our host met us when we arrived, kindly showed us how everything worked, and even gifted us some apple preserves that tasted fabulous on our morning croissants. There was more than enough room for the 4 of us...

"This is a fantastic property with everything you would need for a relaxing, peaceful stay away from home. The host was very welcoming and we felt right at home immediately. Everything we needed was in the property. We have stayed at several gites over the years and this definitely had the best provision of kitchen and laundry items, as well as items we would need for outdoors - loungers, a hammock etc."

"We all loved our time at Nicholas’ house. There is so much to do at the house and it is surrounded by a wall which makes it very easy to be with young families. We picked the vegetables and fruit, fed the chickens and absolutely loved spending time in the river. The pool is beautiful and the house is homely and elegant with everything you need for a happy and easy stay. Nicholas was extremely communicative and kind. We would love to come back again as a group or with others - thank you so much."

"Arrival - we found the property with no issues. Property zip code took us straight there. Bedlinen and bathrooms were clean. Flies were a problem, mushroom growing in the shower, tiles in shower need updating and replacing, door latch plates were all loose (made doors difficult to close), we didn't manage to get the tv working at all, light fittings in the kitchen were hanging dangerously from the ceiling, oven very dirty and difficult to light (think the gas jets needed a clean - i gave up),...

"We stayed for a week. The weather did not turn out as planned however Amanda was very helpful and keen to help and ensure things were okay. The trip was good and we all enjoyed our stay. "

"Excellent. Stunning location. Surrounded by water. A real get away from it all property. Huge plot surrounded by the river which wraps around the site, under and adjacent to the house. Watch kingfishers from the kitchen. Fish for pike, perch, trout and chub in the river which is teaming with fish. The interior is much better than the photographs suggest. There is little to do in the village as it is a very rural area but there are limited facilities in the next village Dampierre-sur-Boutonne which has a friendly little shop which sells basics but also sells beer and wine and pizzas ( very nice) and has a few tables and chairs where you can have a drink and mix with other tourists and locals. Good shopping nearby at Intermarché at Aulnay and even better at St Jean d’Angely where everything can be found including a good veterinary clinic. We drove from England and it is a long way but was well worth it. Unfortunately the weather was mixed and there is little to entertain you if the weather is poor as it is very rural. We had a great holiday and can recommend this property fully. The house is secure, hidden out of the way and very comfortable with good facilities, good WiFi, well equipped and presented. If you like birdwatching and fishing this is heaven. For anglers we caught good sized fish on fly, worms , maggots and lures. Bait is available in a fridge in the supermarket at Aulnay and a decent selection of tackle including lures, lines, hooks etc. Tight lines! "

"The house is as stylish and capacious as the booking information suggests! We made full use of the cool indoor spaces and the pool during our stay at the height of a heatwave. Macqueville and the nearby villages are very quiet and we experienced the slightly unreliable hours of the village shop and restaurant. Booking there is essential. Also a special mention for Dave who was very helpful. "
