Los Mallorquines

The property is very dated, bedroom furniture was extremely old with squeaky beds & couch, broken tiles everywhere on floors throughout the bedroom & ensuite bathroom floors and walls, you need shoes on at all times in the bedroom due to broken tiles and cracks etc. We booked a family room for the 3 of us, when we checked in there were only 2 single beds, no spare pillows, 2 towels and 1 toilet roll for 3 people. I went to phone reception from the room to ask for additional towels, toilet paper & pillows etc but the phone in the bedroom did not work. The sliding door onto the balcony was extremely difficult to open and close, when repairing the phone, we asked the maintenance man to put some oil on the door but he said it works and wouldn’t try anything to improve it, even though it was practically impossible to use it. All this was very very poor, especially for a high standard hotel brand such as Riu, who charged a lot for the rooms at this hotel. It was an all inclusive hotel (food & drink) so the price to say was not cheap! The buffet food for dinner was good, we availed of the international menu, the breakfast was ok but there was no bacon which was rather unusual. Overall, we did not feel we got value for money here, in fact it feels like a 1 or 2 star stay for the price of a 4 star property, the whole building needs decorating, some of the walls outside look as if it was an unused building, bedrooms need updating and new furniture

Very Nice location, direct access to the Beach. All the staff is fantastic from the réception to the restaurant The restaurant is good, offers Nice variety of food, that is changed over days and every evening a différent main plat Rooms are large and in good condition, everything worked, the shower is enormous. Only improvement could be a slightly softer bed (it is 2m wide) Sea view if a must have if you start here

Overall a great hotel. Strong points are as follows; quite tidy and neat in the communal areas, good food at the breakfast and dinner buffets, polite staff, brilliantly easy access to the pool, complimentary cava in the afternoons, breathtaking views from the sea facing room! So pretty strong on most fronts. Negatives are as follows; caters mostly to German travellers but would certainly help if English proficiency was stronger amongst reception. Needless to say they were extremely helpful and did their best to understand me and my requests, so this is a minor (more of an experience thing than a functional thing). The next negative was with room cleanliness- now dont get me wrong they are spotless to the naked eye! But I did find a couple of light-ish wood louse looking creatures, once crawling up the bed and another time on arrival inside the cupboard. The housekeeping staff were awesome though, and did a fantastic job at cleaning the room each time they attended. So for this reason I only deducted one star for cleanliness. At least there weren’t any bed bugs. Facilities I gave a three because for starters, the gym is tiny- very difficult to get a workout in there when it was busy. I was expecting it to be small but some minor tweaks could certainly helped, e.g. making the mirror above the dumbells stretch the width of the wall so both benches can see their reflection. Secondly, some form of paid room service would’ve been nice for lunch.
