The renovations (since it was known as the Sir Francis Drake) created a very nice and pleasant atmosphere. Noise level on the Powell Street-side was relatively high due to a combination of the trollies and late-night conversations/shouting in the street. Otherwise, the stay was fantastic. Note: I unexpectedly ended up extending my stay and was moved to another room. The noise was not an issue at all on the Union Square facing side of the hotel.

The best part of this hotel is the location and the breakfast buffet. The rooms were clean, but we were put across the way in a building that I don't think has been remodeled. The ceilings were popcorn style and some general wear and tear was noticeable. But the location was excellent. We could get to anywhere in fisherman's wharf within a 10 minute walk. We did not spend much time in the room so the overall condition did not bother us too much. The breakfast buffet in the morning was nice, but it was the same food every day so if you're staying for an awhile, just keep in mind that it's going to be the same options daily.
