I’ve stayed in the Hunter Valley a number of times but this was the first time I’ve left feeling refreshed and relaxed. The place is so secluded but also only 15mins to anywhere you want to go. Loved it!!

It was fairly comfortable but certainly not what I would consider as 5-star hotel. Not even the basics like toothbrush and toothpaste! I would have expected a coffee making machine with capsules and much better selection of teas.

What a great weekend in the Hunter at the perfectly styled Tonic Hotel. Loved the location,the outlook and breeze in, breeze out check in, check out process. The only negatives we had were the lower than expected quality of the supplied toiletries, no shower caps and general bathroom add ons you get in boutique stays. The Woolworths croissants were a little underwhelming particularly when there were no condiments supplied as well. A little jam and some locally baked pastries would have done nicely. These little annoyances will not deter us from coming back real soon

Lovely adults only unique property. Tastefully styled rooms; quiet and private. All rooms have a fantastic vista of the serene lake, a gorgeous view to wake to in the morning. The pool and lounge area are fabulous too.

I really want to give this property 5 stars. BUT, the design of the rooms needs addressing. You can hear EVERYTHING from the neighbouring rooms. I came here to escape the city / noise! I wanted to rest, relax and get lots of sleep. The noise from the other guests ruined the whole vibe and also my sleep. Instead of being able to unwind and enjoy the natural surrounds and sounds, all I could hear was their loud conversations etc. I had to listen to music, tv etc to drown out their noise. This place wasn’t cheap either. There was no service eg cleaning, welcome, but I’m assuming that’s due to covid precautions. Otherwise, the eco style was wonderful. Nice bath. Breakfast food in the fridge was plentiful and nice. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was rock hard. Location was great, close to everything and easily accessed from the freeway, 1.5-2hrs drive from Sydney.

The view of the room is amazing and it had a lot of space. Unfortunately when we arrived I’m not sure when they did the cleaning of the room. There were dead bugs in the bathroom and a couple of dead spiders on the WC. Also, we didn’t get cleaning in the room, so we had the breakfast included but basically you need to do your dishes and when you are on holiday that is the last thing you want to do.

Relaxed, quiet part of the Valley - not to far away. Needed to leave the AC running overnight to keep warm but the afternoon winter sun in the room was delightful. Thanks for the vineyard tips Ian - we’ll keep those between us ;-)

Wonderful proximity to the wineries. Great location. Room was modern and very clean. Huge bathroom as comfy bed. Lovely outlook over the damns and beyond. It wasn’t perfect but it was great. Had a top weekend.

Beautiful rural retreat close to all the best wineries in the hunter! Dog friendly rooms and nice pool onsite. Fabulous views and very tranquil if looking for some peace and quiet. Nice touches like candles and music playing in room when we arrived. Little kitchenette which was handy and breakfast provisions were delicious especially the banana bread. Would highly recommend tonic over the big resorts as more personal and adults only too. Wonderful hosts too who are on site if any issues arise during the stay.

My partner and I had such an amazing time celebrating our anniversary in the Hunter Valley. The property is absolutely gorgeous, with picturesque views and is in close proximity to wineries. Right from the start the service was impeccable and the in-room massages were divine. So looking forward to staying here again in the future.

Great location. Nice apartments. owners were really nice and accommodating. Allowed us to check in early and did inform us in advance that the common area was being worked on. Apartment was really nice and well kept. Really nice bath(room) with bath salts and bubble bath on tap, which was a really nice addition. Bed was super comfy. Good stay but probably not 5*. Bird poo on balcony was a bit annoying and common area deck being worked on when we arrived was inconvenient. It was a really relaxing stay and I don’t know if there is a better set of views in the Hunter.

The prices were expensive for the long weekend, wet floors from the shower were a bit annoying, the room was a good size, could hear the neighbours though. I suppose it wasn’t what I would expect from a 5 star establishment. Breakfast good but for the price did expect more from the overall experience, obviously when the prices are cheaper it is adequate for the price.

Ambiance of the hotel puts you in a relaxed moode with its view, design and thought after service. I loved it and will definitely be back. Only comment is hope there were slippers :-)

Convenient but maybe a little over priced
Suitable for a quick 2 night stay in the hunter region. No on site reception so if you need cabs etc you have to do this all yourself. The room was clean and really nice with a full bath and shower etc. Food dropped off daily for breakfast and room cleaned daily.

Loved the room! It was clean, modern & stylish. Very peaceful & close to horse riding & a lovely italian restaurant. There is no front desk so make sure you receive your room details prior to arrival. Must check this place out if you don’t want to stay at a standard hotel.

Only 1 complaint about our stay at Tonic which is no biggy but you shouldn't have things on your website that aren't true. It said that the rooms fridges are stacked with beers and chocolate and we had neither. It also had on it that there was frozen curries etc in the lounge freezer and cheeses and nibbles as well to buy if wanted and non was available. Breakfast that was provided was delicious and the bed was very comfy. Overall it was nicely presented and well decorated.
