"Very comfortable stay for a couple and dog. Having a washing machine and dryer on vacation was a nice perk. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fenced yard for the dog. I wish I had known there were so many small stairs in the house (as the dog and I have bad knees). There was hand and dish soap and paper towels, but no bathroom toiletries in case you forgot.I loved how well the space was used! It's a small house but well equipped. I was surprised to find there are plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy your morning coffee. Great stay, I would recommend to others."

"I loved this place. I looked online after much research and found this location. I was so happy with it. The views are so beautiful, it is clean and wonderfully decorated, and it was very convient to the town of Luray and also to the Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. I would highly recommend staying here if you want a clean, comfortable, and beautiful getaway."

"The Mimslyn Inn was not first choice. I had tried to book the Hillside Hotel because it was advertised as having an outdoor pool. However, after completing booking, Hillside sent a note saying that their pool was down indefinitely for repairs. The Mimslyn Inn became a "happy accident" as the place is super charming. Built 1931, the decor is period accurate. We booked a Suite, which was spacious and comfortable WITH ONE EXCEPTION: As a suite it incorporated bedding for up to four occupants. It did, however, half the bedding was a pull-out sleep sofa. To my dismay, sleeper sofa technology has not evolved and has never been designed with human anatomy/comfort in mind. Steel framing impinges precisely where one lays one's shoulders; the net experience is agonizing. No worries, though, as my clever and resourceful wife immediately suggested simply removing the mattress from the frame, stowing the bedframe and sleeping "futon" style with the mattress on the floor. Problem solved. To our >very< husky stepson and grandson, we granted use of the king-size bed, which they gratefully enjoyed. In sum, my earnest recommendation to the Mimslyn management is that they ditch the sleep sofa(s) and replace them with a standard queen-size bed. Given the generous size of our suite, the addition of a regulation bed in place of a sofa would have been entirely acceptable. Beyond that, I would recommend the Mimslyn Inn to any traveler looking for an alternative to the boxy, budget-level hotel."

Romantic River Front cabin,Close to Luray

"We stayed in the Gander for our first wedding annivery! This property was beautiful (but needed landscaping, the view was largely blocked by invasive plants), the amenities (hot tub, kayaks, cornhole boards, etc) were thoughtful, and the hosts were communicative and helpful. It stormed for a lot of our weekend but we LOVED our evenings on the covered porch in the rocking chairs. The ac units worked very well and the whole place was clean. However, at almost 700 for three nights, I think this cabin was lacking in comfort. The beds were hard, the pillows were incredibly thin, and the couch could use replacing. There were no throw blankets or pillows, soft lighting in the main spaces, etc to make the space feel more cozy and welcoming. I think it'd make a world of difference to upgrade the bedding and add some little touches here and there, without losing the rustic charm, but I certainly *would* recommend this cabin to a friend after those changes were made."

"The house and property were wonderful. Clean, comfortable, and cozy. There were clean linens, towels,basic cleaning supplies, china and cutlery all provided. The location was perfect, about 10 minutes from a nice central town with things to do and easy accessibility. The hot tub was very relaxing on a quiet night and the house stayed chilled and dark during the middle of July. The host, Kristen, was excellent and very responsive to any inquires and went out of her way to help address a billing issue.I cannot recommend this host and property enough."

"I was pleasantly surprised for our stay. We would have stayed another night if we didn't have a time issue. Everything was SUPER clean, it was old, but taken care of. The property manager (owner?) was so super nice and welcoming. There are even chairs to sit on in front of your room so you can enjoy the night time. If you are in Luray and need a place to stay I would definitely give The Cardinal Inn a thumbs up."
