A River Runs Through It
Just what the doctor ordered during hectic home renovations! We had a great time here with our 2 retrievers watching them swim in the river, sitting around the campfire at night, hiking during the day and relaxing in the hot tub… simple pleasures are the best! The Shenandoah river ran through all our cares at home, helping us release them and return home rejuvenated 😊🏞️🐾

Stink Bug/Extra Person Charge
When we got to the house it great. We walked in and there were stink bugs everywhere. The listing stated that the property slept 6 people…we had 5…I got charged $180 for an “extra person charge” When I brought it up..I was told that the fee is charged when there are more than 2 people. Why say it sleeps 6 if you are going to charge extra? $180 at that!!! I had no choice..last minute booking for a funeral.

Very Relaxing Stay by the River
Loved our stay at Bear Valley Cabin by the Shenandoah River. Extra credit for firewood to go with the awesome fire pit next to the river--we really enjoyed relaxing and listening to the rapids downstream. Also--based on what I saw in the photos and read under amenities, I did not see a dishwasher mentioned..it was a wonderful surprise to have a dishwasher as I was prepared to have to wash dishes...and we cooked almost all of our meals at the cabin. We really enjoyed the quiet cabin by the river!!!!

Relaxing!
We were having a 40th anniversary get away and this place was perfect for relaxing! The property is beautiful and being able to sit on the bank of the clear river was so relaxing. Husband enjoyed catching fish, we had a soak in the hot tub, and enjoyed sitting around the fire pit. We used the tubes and canoes that were there and that was awesome. We had a bit of trouble at check-in with having no internet (no cell signal either) and had to drive up the road to get a signal to speak with the property manager. They were able to get the internet back online within an hour or two while we enjoyed the river. We had a lovely dinner in Luray at the Watch and Warrant Restaurant. Mostly, though, just relaxed!

Great "low key" getaway - awesome location
We had a glorious stay in March. It was cold, but we drove through Shenandoah National Park (glorious), accomplished a marvelous hike, visited the town of Luray and saw Luray Caverns (my husband for the first time). We would definitely recommend this visit for family time that doesn't involve organized activities. It is a quiet, peaceful visit with lots of interesting interactions with nature. Enjoy the Shenandoah Valley Mountains!

Nice outdoor space, got the job done
Cabin was nice, had a blast on the river bank in the mornings and evenings. Enjoyed the fireplace. We had some bugs inside but figured they come with the cabin. Neither the master bedroom nor living room DVD players were working but since it was so nice outside we didn’t feel like we were missing out.

This cabin was clean cute. The views amazing! The hot tub was really old and only one setting worked. The tub was rusty and in daylight very uninviting. The water smells bad coming out of the facet, so bring lots of water bottles. They did have a water filter jug in the refrigerator so that was nice for making coffee. There is a lingering musty smell but the air conditioning worked and helped with that. If the owners updated the Hot tub, mattresses and water purifier, this place would be perfect. Such a gem waiting to be polished!

We love Bear Valley!
This is our third visit to the cabin in the fall! We love Bear Valley, especially sitting by the fire pit and watching the river roll by! Our daughter and pup spend hours playing in the yard and the river! Thank you!

We booked this trip for a birthday escape! We’ll it was a surprise for the birthday boy but he also enjoyed his 36th big day and week! The property is amazing and secluded, which is just what we were looking for, this time! The location provided weather from all 4 seasons in one weekend, from 90 degree weather to fog to rain to snow to 70 degrees sunny and breezy like a spring day! It was amazing! We brought 2 of our 5 dogs with us and they also enjoyed the outdoors and river! We cooked on the grill, ate by the bonfire and paddled our way back to shore in the canoe. It was a blast! Highly recommend this place for exploration or kicking back and watching movies!

Our stay was wonderful! The view was absolutely amazing! We spent a lot of time down by the river. The dogs really enjoyed themselves too! The cabin was comfortable and just perfect for a family of four.

The view of the river and mountains was great. However the cabin could definitely use some TLC. Several hornets nests, cobb webs, spiders, the deck is in Dire need of work and paint, weak spots. Some pressure washing would go a long way here. The grass needed to be cut. I cant count how many roaches, and ants we killed in the cabin. The cart to move firewood was a nice gesture however all 4 tires are flat. Issues with the hot tub. Couches felt worn out and dirty. Tv remote doesnt work. Overall we had a good time but the grounds need some attention desperatly for the price we paid.

Thank you Blake for the review- The owners are in the cabin this week with a contractor and going to do some upgrades. That said this is a cozy cabin. The pictures reflect that. This cabin is meant to feel like a cabin by the river- here is current review from guest that appriciate the cabin feel: Appreciated the quiet location and space. My boys loved the hot tub, and we made good use of the fire pit with the supply provided by the owners leaving more than enough and plenty to spare. The lodgings were comfortable and warm. every thing was good-alot of steps for older folks like us from the outdoors- wasn't an issue but river outfitters do drive back and forth all day--not safe to stroll the road and they drive those buses fast!

A Relaxing Pet Friendly River Getaway!
The house was quaint, pet friendly, clean, and just what we had expected! The bottom deck was always shaded, perfect for a nighttime sit. The access to the river was walk-in, the dog was appreciative. The neighbors were friendly. There was plenty do with a 30 min drive, ziplining, kayaking/tubing (3 min drive), in town. We recommend both coffee shops (Gathering Grounds, Broad Porch), The Valley Cork (great drinks, wine, and food), and Baby Moons (lunch). We definitely plan to stay again.

Amazing Cabin!!
This cabin is perfect!! We enjoyed fishing, playing in the river, making s’mores, and relaxing in the hot tub! The cabin was clean and the grounds were well kept! The birds woke us up every morning and this little bunny was always visiting us in the yard eating clovers. This is the perfect little getaway!!

River front Cabin
We really enjoyed our stay at Bear Valley Cabin. The cabin was clean and as pictured. It could use a little maintenance but overall was great! We really enjoyed the riverfront access and canoes that were available to us. The hot tub was great! Clean but that to could use some updating as well. I would absolutely stay here again!

The view is beautiful. The back deck overlooks the river-The jacuzzi is very accessible-There is a nice wood pile for the firepit-fireplace is gas-but if u you are expecting moderate privacy think twice- there are 2 houses to the right and 1 house to the left-not much separation. There are canoes--we were reluctant w/ current of river to take it out- but we did- the current is strong .. dif can't fish without -anchoring. fishing from bank is fine--did not catch fish- The town of Luray is a good 30-40 drive through mountain roads--very scenic-we always bring breakfast food and snack food-- did firepit both nights- Relaxing We own rental property-- the rental had most of everything u would need-we have been to several different properties in Blue Ridge area- Enjoy!

Everything you would want in a cabin, wood everywhere, great kitchen ammenities for cooking, and in a quiet part of Shenandoah, right on the river! Check-in was easy and there were plenty of dorections on the fridge/fireplace/hot tub for use.

If you're looking for a relaxing quiet escape, this is definitely the place. The cabin sits right on the lake and the grounds are beautiful. The porch swing and fire pit were awesome. The cabin itself was equipped with everything you need and everything was in working order. The hot tub was amazing!

Wonderful Getaway!

Much needed getaway
Fiance, my dogs and I needed this well deserved trip. Needed to get away from what's going on in the world and we did not want to leave. Great access to the river, dogs loved it, very comfy space and worth it. My only concern was the lighting underneath when letting our dogs out at night was a bit sketch but other then that stay was wonderful!
