Karpaha Sands

Karpaha Sands

10/10 Excellent
"Probably one of the best 5-star eco-friendly and intimate boutique hotels we’ve ever visited. From the warm welcome by Roberto and the entire team to the exceptional hospitality throughout our stay, every moment felt special. A special mention goes to Namal, whose attentive yet unobtrusive service perfectly embodied the genuine warmth of the staff. The beachfront villas are spacious, beautifully designed, and blend seamlessly into the lush natural surroundings. We especially loved the outdoor shower and the thoughtfully selected scents throughout the room, which added to the sense of tranquility. The secluded, pristine beach felt like our own private paradise. The food and beverage offerings were outstanding, from the à la carte breakfast to the excellent lunches and dinners, all complemented by impeccable service. The spa deserves a special mention as well. The therapist was exceptionally skilled, the treatment rooms are beautifully nestled in nature, and the welcome and farewell drinks made the entire experience feel truly luxurious. It was easily one of the best spa experiences we’ve ever had. Karpaha Sands is a rare place where luxury, sustainability, and heartfelt hospitality come together effortlessly. We left wishing we had booked a longer stay and can’t wait to return."

"Wow what an experience it was to stay here! It is so off the beaten track that you need collecting by the hotel staff in a very heavy duty jeep because a normal car stands no chance of getting there. It is the most peaceful place I have ever been with the most amazing views of the mountains. I will say it is so remote that you can’t just pop out for lunch etc so make sure you’re prepared with things to keep you entertained for your stay. The food was all incredible and the staff were some of the most attentive yet. Because it is such a small hotel with only four pods they really look after you and everything is tailored exactly to you from menu choices to timings etc. All the staff were so kind and really went above and beyond to offer PERFECT service. I would recommend this hotel for the staff alone, the amazing location just makes it even better. We did the waterfall trek with one of their staff too which was great. He was very knowledgable pointing out different plants and stopping for us to try the wild cardamom, berries etc."

Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge

Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge

"Fantastic property and fantastic experience. We have nothing but high praise. Loved the family unit with the tent on top and separate room downstairs for the kids. Here’s a word of warning though regarding getting there….its not an easy ride up from the village on a very narrow very poorly maintained road. Not for the faint hearted. It also takes a good 30 minutes especially if you need to use the tuk tuks to get up."

"The property was beautiful and we felt cared about as staff very attentive. Our room was truly incredible, so fancy and even our own little pool. We also used the big communal pool which was great to relax by. The activities they offer was great. We did night walk, boat safari, jeep safari, hike monkey mountain which was strenuous but fun and great views, and very blessed to do a walk with a Vedda elder and learn from him."

Hotel Sudu Araliya

Hotel Sudu Araliya

10/10 Excellent
"Sudu Araliya is located on the banks of the Parakrama Samudraya. It’s extensive gardens offer a peaceful place for relaxation. There is a very nice and sturdy tree house with a couple of benches and tables. A lovely place for children to play and adults to relax. Rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean. Staff was friendly and attentive and our requests were taken care of promptly. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet with many typical Sri Lankan foods. We only spent one night there but planning to return for a 2-3 night stay. Would definitely recommend staying there."

"Wonderful room two doors away from where Queen Elizabeth stayed. Fabulous little infinity pool and only two of us in there. Stunning view with sundowners on the terrace spoilt by terrorist monkey determined to steal something off our table. Enormous curry with enough dishes to feed at least 3 adults!"
