Simple and super friendly!
I stayed here for 2 nights straight after arriving in Mauritius, mainly as I couldn’t be bothered with long/expensive transfers to the far side of the island - but also so I could experience “real” Mauritius too (rather than just the tourist resorts). ONS is in the perfect place within Mahebourg, which is very easy to reach by bus from the airport. There’s not lots to do, but you can fill a day for sure. The motel is simple, clean, comfy, friendly and quiet (apart from the nearby mosque prayers!), with wifi and a very basic breakfast thrown into the great value price too. However, by far the best thing about my experience of the place was then using Beelal as a driver for tours for 2 days. He was friendly, very laid back, charged very reasonable rates for each day (with the itinerary completely customisable as I wished) and generally helped make the start of my trip very enjoyable. So long as you are sensible in your expectations about ONS Motel (i.e. it’s not a 5-star resort with an infinity pool… but then the price reflects that!), if you want to stay in Mahebourg and/or use this place as a base for exploring further, I’d thoroughly recommend it! Keep up the good work Beelal!!

Good Value For The Price Paid
Located right in centre of Mahebourg, within very short walking distance from shopping/market, restuarants and all the attractions. Was easy to find, although only street parking is available. Very friendly and helpful service with efficient check in/out, note the motel involves climbing stairs to the third floor or using a tiny and very slow elevator with manual doors. Clean and decent sized room. However the only amenties provided were two bath towels, 2 small bars of soap and a jug of water. No face/hand towels or shampoo, conditioner, etc. Breakfast consisted of a small fruit bowl, a large bun or piece of baguette, some jam, cheese, a glass of juice and tea/coffee, nothing more. Still based on the price paid couldn't have expected much more. Overall an enjoyable stay.

The rooms are clean and a decent size, although with glass walled bathrooms you'd better be pretty familiar with the people you're sharing with. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel in general has a nice atmosphere, and is situated well for exploring Mahebourg. The rooms could do with a bit of updating; for instance the mattress was uncomfortably lumpy and in dire need of replacement, and one of the bedside lamps flickered like it was auditioning for a horror film.

FAB MOTEL SITUATED IN THE HEART OF MAURITIAN LIFE
Greeted at the airport by a family member, my stay was perfect from the start. The family who own and run this establishment are delightful. I was only staying one night In Transit to Reunion, but I was given advice on where to eat etc. The guest house was SPOTLESS, and breakfast with fresh pineapple etc was a good start to the day. Mahebourg itself is a lively town just a few minutes from Blue Bay. If you want to see TRUE Mauritian life rather than gated holiday complexes then this is the place for you. The colour and vitality will leave a lasting impression on you.

Our stay here could not have been any better. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the location was absolutely perfect! Close to the airport, and in the centre of the town. A short walk to everything you might need. The staff were amazing, and Ibrahim went out of his way to make our stay memorable. From organising airport transfers, to restaurant recommendations, and organising a private car and driver to take us to the most beautiful spots on the island. We got a really great package deal, and also great rates with the activities we did. Honestly could not have asked for more, or been any happier. Thank you so much!

We ended up not staying here because the location was so bad. It is in tje middle of a very run down, noisy and scary-looking area so we told the taxi driver to keep driving.

Please note our location is the best one in Mahebourg we are on the main street strategically situated on the heart of the town. Scary looking area? I’am sure that you made a mistake of saying that as Mahebourg is a lovely small village and people are very friendly and calm. I will propose you to stay at our place at list once so you can change your mind on our beautiful island.

ONS Motel
The Motel website seems to imply it is a ground level motel, probably on the outskirts of Mahebuorg City. In fact, the "motel" is on the fourth floor in the middle of the rundown area of central Mahebourg, adjacent to the mosque. The rooms are quite comfortable and the service is excellent. The several times a day call to prayer at the Mosque, particularly the very early morning call, is a bit disturbing.

Good location and friendly staff
A good, central location with supermarket, bazaar and restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable for us (two adults and one child). The only thing we thought would be handy is a small in-room fridge, but overall, we were happy with our stay and would stay there again.

Lovely homely guest house
Stayed 4 nights in this homely guest house where the rooms were located on the 3rd floor of the building. The room was quite basic but adequate. The dining room had a view onto the main street which was great as you could watch all the activity there. Breakfast consisted of small glass of fruit, juice, long bread stick with cheese and jam and tea or coffee. We had no plans arranged for touring Mauritius and when a family member offered to take us on a tour which sounded interesting and included a meal in a local restaurant, we accepted the offer. For our evening meal, the owner offered us a traditional meal which was cooked by his mother and served in the dining room. After a day touring the southern part of Mauritius, it was lovely to dine in house. During the next two days we toured with our driver and dined at local restaurants.

Misconception
Where we stayed certainly didn't look anything like in the advertising photo. The lift is nearly dis functional. The area isn't what English or European people would like.. Wouldn't stay there again.

Strange but good
We drove past twice before noticing the sign. The guest house is on the 3rd floor, accessed though a closed pair of gates. The lift had an out of service sign but apparently that's to discourage the 2nd floor gym patrons. There's no parking - we had to park in a nearby side street. After such a discouraging arrival, we were a bit worried but things then got better. The room was generous and everything worked, although the fittings were basic but that's to be expected at this price. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The ONS is in the main street of Mahebourg, close to the Waterfront, where there are several good looking restaurant (we went to the Dragon de Chine). Breakfast was simple but adequate.

ONS Motel in Mahebourg, Mauritius - super helpful!
The ONS Motel in Mahebourg, Mauritius is a great place to stay, especially if you are looking for budget-friendly lodging outside of the major touristy spots. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the breakfast included delicious fresh fruit and a crusty baguette with accompaniments. A pleasant surprise was the Fitness Centre on the floor below the motel; guests were allowed to use the gym for free. Ibrahim, the manager of ONS Motel, is a friendly, helpful, flexible, and kind young man. He was available at all hours, if needed, and worked hard to take care of his guests. As I only had vague ideas of what I wanted to see, Ibrahim gave me great suggestions on what to see and how to get there. I did two day tours with him in different areas of the island and he was very open and patient with my 10,000 questions about all things Mauritian. The motel also offers airport transfers, which always makes things easier. As a female traveling solo, I also appreciated the very safe accommodations and town. I highly recommend the ONS Motel to all travelers. Ibrahim was the best!

We were very disappointed. The website seems deceptive to what the real thing was. We booked for 7 nights but only stayed for 1 night. It was not suitable for two couples in one room. Very limited privacy. No ventilation and too busy and noisy. Would really like to have our money back. With all the luggage we had to climb five sets of stairs. Just is not what visitors want after twelve hours of flying. However I have to say, the gentleman who tried to help us was very gracious. The breakfast was great. Overall impression and experience was poor.

Dear Jocelyne, Thanks you for sharing your expression. 1st i would like to explain that you book 1 Family room for 2 adult and 2 child category that definitely not suitable for 2 couples in 1 room. All our room have air conditioned. About your luggage please not is our staff bring your luggage in room we will never let a guest climb stairs with. I'am very sorry if ONS Motel was not in your choice but we would like to thanks you for staying with us and for next time i will recommend you to book 2 Double room for 2 couple that definitely you will have more privacy. Nice Motel, Good Location
ONS is a nice family run Motel. It is close to the airport and in a convenient location to shops, markets, restraunts, and the waterfront. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They make you feel welcome and at home. They are always available to answer questions, organize trips, and even prepare a delicious home cooked dinner. The rooms are clean, comfortable and secure. I had an enjoyable stay with them and will return whenever I am in Mauritius.

Comfortable location close to airport
This location was the perfect choice as I didn't want to travel too much from the airport after the long flight. The hotel is situated in the town centre, close to all facilities. Ibrahim is a great host, together with his lovely family, showing a big interest in the comfort of my staying at the hotel. He was helpful as well in organising my trips in the island. I could visit the most nicest places with the services offered by the hotel: Ile de Cerfs, The Blue Bay Beach, The Bois Cheri tea factory with the tea tasting experience, The Talao Temple, The seven coloured ground, and few of the waterfalls in the Black Mountains.

This was a great place to stay, comfortable, homey, and great value for money. The owner is very caring and attentive and makes you feel like the only person staying there even when he's been working 11 hours a day and trying to keep up with everyone's needs. The rooms are individually decorated in a sort of quaint way. Just a couple things to note -- ONS is on the same block as a mosque and the prayer call starts before 5 am even during winter, so if you're not Muslim and you want to sleep you should bring earplugs. Also, the ONS gym/fitness center I think was open to guests, but it was all men in there and I would have felt a bit uncomfortable using it, however this is a reflection of the local culture and not the hotel. Finally, the express bus from Port Louis makes a stop just a block past the hotel, no need to walk all the way from the main bus station. All in all a very memorable place to stay, the owner (Mr. Gunggli I think) truly makes the visit special and the private tour services can be arranged on very short notice and take you just about anywhere in the entire country. Highly recommended.

The over night was good for transfer on Air Mauritius. It was night so we could not see the town. The steps in the bath room pose a big problem and my wife fell on the steps.

Manager was great, he not only provided the normal services of a hotel but also helped me plan my entire trip when I arrived so I could make the most of my few days. There is an airport pick up service and access to taxi/priate car hire for better rates than most other car hire companies. The room was a good size and clean. The fitness centre really is a proper gym too not just some token weights. Would definitely come back and stay again.

The stay was amazing. Ibrahim and the staff were very friendly, helpful and co-operative. The hotel is very close to the airport and offers pick up and drop off service. The hotel is very clean, comfortable and well maintained. It offers self drive car rental service as well. Overall, I was very impressed by the staff and the service. Ibrahim (hotel manager) is a very kind, helpful and friendly person. He takes care of the guest in a very professional manner. Whenever i'll visit Mauritius again, i'll love to stay at ONS. Thank you Ibrahim for making my stay comfortable and memorable. Best of luck !!!
