Cool Barn reno with views. 5 mins to hike, restaurants, fishing...

Experience the Manchester area and all it has to offer in our converted barn on 6+ acres. Enjoy mountain views or walk to Manchester village. Scenic walks available nearby. Find great hiking in drives as short as five minutes. Get on the slopes quickly at Bromley, Stratton and Magic Mountain. Mt Snow, Okemo and Killington - all close enough for day skiing. Check out cross-country skiing at Hildene or travel to Wild Wings in Peru and Prospect Mountain in Bennington. Cast your pole at the river down the street. Walk to Equinox for a cocktail around the outdoor fireplace or to the Taconic Hotel to grab a fantastic burger at the Copper Grouse. Walk up the street and treat yourself to one of the areas best meals at The Silver Fork.

Attending a wedding at the Equinox or Ekwanok Country Club or Hildene? Our property is around the corner from the Equinox and across the street from the Ekwanok. We are a few miles from Hildene.

This converted barn, two-story apartment, is framed insid by the barn's original beams. Furnished thoughtfully, guests will encounter interesting vintage rustic and industrial pieces complimented by new and antique mid-century touches. It is a perfect spot for a couple or two friends.

The first floor offers a soaring two-story ceiling, windows from floor to ceiling, and vibrant sunlight. A great room, the first floor has comfortable living and dining spaces, with a small kitchen.

Climb the steps to the very large loft bedroom and a king bed, a seating nook for reading, a desk for working, a wardrobe, and dresser. A small but, updated and functional, bathroom sits off the master bedroom.

Enjoy multiple seating areas outside including smores around the Breeo smokeless wood fire pit.

Please note that the barn shares the 6+ acres with the main house. We may be staying in the house or have renters in the home during your stay. The barn is set off from the house and the property is such that you may never see people that are staying in the house.

We love children (we have four) but we are not comfortable with children under 12 staying in the apartment due to the loft bedroom. If you have children and are looking for a place to stay, please consider our 3-bedroom home. Hoping to stay with a larger group, we offer the house and barn for rent together.

Also, please note that per the description there is only one bathroom and it is on the second floor and we do NOT have air conditioning in the barn. This property also only accommodates two people.

Cosy Getaway
My wife and I really enjoyed this well equipped and characterful property for a long weekend winter getaway. Manchester is a nice town with plenty to do, great New England architecture and well situated to explore Southern Vermont. We’ll be back!

Cozy, Well-Equipped, Beautiful Location
This was our third stay at the barn on River Road in Manchester. Each time has been in the winter, and the barn is wonderfully decorated, convenient, clean and fun. The hosts are always easy to communicate with.

Lovely and Cozy
We stayed at Jean and John's renovated barn for a weekend while we attended a wedding in Manchester. It's a very cool space -- cozy and comfortable with soaring ceilings, gorgeous views and a spacious loft bedroom. Perfect blend of rustic and modern -- with a minimalist Scandinavian feel. The king bed in the loft is super comfortable dressed with soft linens and extra layers if needed. Location is perfect -- private and out of the way but close to town and sights. There were guests staying in the main house while we were there but the distance from the house makes the barn private and quiet. Communication with Jean and John was great and prompt. Check-in/out was easy peasy and the house was sparkling clean with fresh water, condiments, coffee, tea, milk/cream and all the basics for self-catering in the well equipped kitchen. Overall a great experience!

Great location, comfortable stay!
My wife and I had a fantastic 2 night stay at this property. The location was convenient to town, though we spent much of the time hanging out around the fire pit on the lawn listening to the stream. The property was extremely peaceful and quiet, and we even had a visit from about a dozen turkeys out on the lawn. The barn is tastefully decorated, and the kitchen is just the perfect size for two. The bed and pillows were very comfortable - we both enjoyed a great night's sleep. We loved that there were staples in the pantry and shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. It made traveling from out of town very convenient. My wife wrote this entire review, but I enjoyed the stay as well!

Beautiful, quiet, clean, cozy
We had a couple of days to explore Manchester before joining another group, and this was the perfect home base - the bedroom was especially lovely, and felt like a spacious loft, private and airy and super comfortable. Our host was responsive and helpful, and it was a short easy drive to town.
