"Hotel is good for short stay. It’s in the old part of the city and so is in congested area. Close to the bus station for both local and other buses. Staff is friendly and attentive."

"The most horrible hotel and the worst experience booking through Expedia, the staff do not understand English, they hang up on you, tell you that they don’t have the confirmation and ask you to pay again. Please don’t pick this place"

"I happened to stay in Ocean Pearl for a day in last week of December and my experience was delightful.
Some delightful points:
1) Eventhough the hotel is situated on a busy junction, but rooms were very well insulated, never felt any trafic noise filtering into the room.
2) Hotel Staff was very prompt & helpful in their checkin support & during our stay.
3) Rooms were very clean & well maintained. Beddings and Toiletries were taken care.
4) Hot water was available round the clock.
5) TV channels were somewhat missing, but not a deal breaker, the issue might have been resolved if I would have brought it to notice of relevant authorities.
6) We had Breakfast included in our stay, and it was very good and wholesome. Lot many items including South Indian, North Indian, Continental menu were on offer and taste was delightful.
Some Things that can be improved
1) Parking is less considering the size of hotel, most of the cars are parked within the premise of the hotel, rest have to be parked in basement, which is not that easy considering the overall size. So, one needs to park in sun or park in basement. They do provide free valet service that can assist with parking though.
2) The service at the Hotel left a lot to be desired. Service time as way to high, we got the table well in time, but the service was very slow in both the instances that we dined.

Vivanta Mangalore Oldport Road - Formerly Known as Taj Manjarun
10/10 Excellent
"This appeared to be the most luxurious hotel in the area. We had previously stayed at A.J. Grand and found it did not have sufficient ameneties in the room and booked at Vivanta for the second night of our stay in Mangalore. Really happy we made the switch! The lobby and restaurants were upscale. Our bedroom and bathroom were clean, modern, and had everything one would expect. There was a strange odor in our hallway when we arrived, but we did not smell it again later in the day. The area around the botel is not great. It is not suitable for walking around/exploring. You'll need to take an auto if you want to get out. "
"The proximity to most places was an advantage. The breakfast was simple but fairly good. The personnel at the front desk and Lawrence were very accommodating and understanding. The room too was fairly clean, though baby cockroaches are an issue. On my second day I noticed a couple so requested the reception to get room service to clean and spray.
I was rather disappointed that the breakfast was cold the first day, but after letting the front desk know, it was good the next few days I was there. The driveway was being re-done when I was at the hotel. So I could not park on the premises. Though , there was a driver to valet park and get the vehicle for me when needed. That was good-Thank you.
Overall a good stay. Thank you!

"Clean rooms, but a bit dated. Has all the amenities (wi-fi, toiletries in bathroom etc). However the light and fan switches were not at all intuitive. We could not turn off the lights without turning off the fan and had to leave one light on the whole night.
Restuarant inside the hotel was good with a full veg menu"
"This property owner told that he will not give the room even though it was confirmed via expedia. He said i don't care if its booked via Expedia. He forced me to pay the full amount 2 days before the booking and only then he told its confirmed. Area behind the hotel is scary with worst crowd"
