"We ended up booking this place to stay for the weekend but we didn't even check-in in the apartment. The street getting to this place is very rural and tight with no lights and we quickly realized that it would have been impossible for us to drive in and out of it easily at night. The street also doesn't seem to have any lights which makes it dangerous to drive in. Can't really comment for the place inside because we didn't even see it, but more pictures of the apartment should be listed, and...

"The room was very nice for a lodge so deep into the mountains. Because I brought my boat with me, I might get a cabin in the future to have the extra parking space. The pool/lazy river/splash pad was also relaxing to hang out at until the rain storms passed by. The Quill Cantina had unexpectedly good food. The pizza, french dip sandwich, and sausage-egg-cheese biscuits were all delicious and were fairly priced given the quality. The sausages were a little thin compared to the egg, cheese, and biscuit, but we did eat them twice in the same weekend. I would also recommend getting a golf cart to get around the resort if you don't want to drive your car. The village is quite large around a mile in length all on the side of a hill. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well as the other guests, so make sure to leave your bad mood at home! Parking was also very convenient. When getting gas at the village, it was expensive like at any marina. The lake was also incredible, so if you are driving more than two hours to get there, I would seriously considering renting a boat if you don't have one just to look around. They do have a tour, but I am not sure if they stop to let you swim. We will definitely be returning and might make it an annual tradition to go there."

"The room was good. Needs a bit of maintenance. The view was absolutely wonderful. The door handle lock to the balcony was broken, but since we were on the third floor, I was not too worried. There were ants in the bathroom and in some other parts of the room. The location was great. The beach is right across from the lodge. And the fairgrounds are very near and an easy walk to the boat launches. The breakfast is ok. There is syrup, but no waffle makers or frozen waffles/pancakes to use it on. Coffee is good."

"I trust Hampton Inn to provide a confortable, pleasant experience. In Murphy, NC we were not let down. The staff from the front desk (when I had a question) to the delightful breakfast (prepared by the lovely Linda) were courteous and kind in true Southern style. We were in town for a Memorial Service and found the staff gracious and sympathetic. Best regards, Mary Colleary Braintree, Mass."

"This is our favorite place to stay in the mountains. Great value for the price. The breakfast is very good and the coffee is decent. Lots of breakfast choices even fruit salad. Waffle maker. Best part of breakfast is the picture window that overlooks the Mountain View. The rooms are what you would expect and clean. The location is central allowing travel to Helen and Blue Ridge areas."

"Check in is fast. If you have a service animal,they do make you fill out a form on what it's trained to do. The breakfast was regular Continental,no protein. The pool is down,but honestly I think it always will be. There was a sewing needle buried long ways in the carpet . My husband snagged his bare foot on it. It bleed a fair amount. He dug the needle out of the carpet. It was rusted,so thank God he's had his tetanus shot. Wear shoes in the rooms. It was quiet for the most part,and no one bothered us. The hotel needs some updating . The rooms are really humid. We had to empty the humidifier in our room and clean it out. It had a lot of mold in it,and was full of water. The blankets on the room beds were damp with humidity when we got there. You could smell the dampness in the room. It was an okay stay,but it is an older hotel with some problems,so remember that when you stay"
