Apollo Bay Getaway

We had a great first stay at Lochys Rest, we come to Apollo Bay every year for the marathon weekend and found this place very spacious and suitable for our needs. It's cold in May so might be worth popping in an extra heater or hot water bottle/s if coming in the cooler months. We didn't use the wood fire as couldn't be bothered sourcing wood. No wifi as stated in information but plenty of games and dvd's supplied. Make sure you bring toilet paper, soap, olive oil and dishwasher tablets. All can be purchased at Apollo Bay IGA which is only 2 or 3 kms down the road. Great sized kitchen with plenty of prep room for multiple cooks. Plenty of off-road parking available.

Spacious but in need of a little update

We stayed at Lochys Rest in September of 2024. We were very happy with the size, layout and location of the house. It was great to accomodate our two families as the kids and adults had seperate areas, but the main loungeroom was big enough to accomodate all. Although we enjoyed our stay, it left a little to be desired. The house had a musty smell that was quite strong. As it was cold weather, we weren't able to open windows to freshen it up. The carpet definitely needs a good deep steam clean. The beds were old and the couches were saggy. It would have also been great if the house came with at least towels and tea towels. That was annoying to have to pack. We were so happy to spend time together as a family that we were happy to overlook a lot of these imperfections. We recommend Lochys Rest. As long as you're not too precious.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was extremely well set up to accommodate two families, and the two living spaces provided entertainment for all. Excellent location with easy access to the beach. Loved the feeding platform for the native birds.

great space that easily accommodated for our large group, the property was clean and provided extra blankets that kept us nice and warm! a 2 minute drive to the town and a quick walk to the beach made everything super accessible. thankyou for allowing us to enjoy apollo bay!

Happy with our stay.

Overall I was happy with the stay. Property was quite comfortable, thought the cleanliness of the property was ok without being fantastic. Couple of the neighbours walking their dog (on the road) had a crack at me while I drove past them doing 30kms. 🤷‍♂️. Road limit is 50kms!!! Overall our experience was good & I would go back to stay again.

Locky’s Rest

Great sized property for two families. Make sure you bring firewood in winter as it is cold. Unfortunately we ran out of gas and back up bottle was already empty. 14 hours with no hot water and no cooking was an issue but when we finally got hold of someone it was replaced within 3 hours.

Good location, nice house, the only problem I found is that it states that it sleeps 12 but that includes 2 pull-out couches that weren’t comfy at all.Needs to be specified that it sleeps 8 in beds and 4 on pull-out couches as I was under the impression that it’s 12 people in beds

This house was clean and well stocked.

Lovely place which, had all the things you need. Up stairs shower was in usable however, down stairs shower was good. We loved the VCR and watched a few movies- so 90’s. We are likely to book again.

We enjoyed ourselves and the kids loved having their own lounge room. It was handy having the second bathroom downstairs so the kids could wash the sand off after the beach. Everyone had fun

Feels like a chalet

After a few hiccups (some rectified promptly by Property Manager) we had a lovely stay. Venue is roomy and well laid out. We had 10 in our group (only having 6 dining chairs) meant a group sitting was challenging. Kids were disappointed the table tennis wasn't available.

Worth considering

We found the property fitted our needs well. It is in a nice quiet location very close to Apollo Bay(less than 10 minutes). You can walk to the local beach. 2 bathrooms is handy. The deck is up amongst the trees and local native birds visit regularly. The only 2 minor negatives we found were the gas oven(we could not get it to work) and grill are difficult to light and the TV does not have Bluetooth connectivity which meant we could not connect our streaming devices. DVD's are soooo last century. Over all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Brilliant House

What a brilliant experience! The house is wonderful, full of character and had loads of comfort. With 5 kids and 2 adults we enjoyed the house configuration and the ease of the living spaces. And that open fire was the key to us enjoying our day’s despite the rain and rough weather. We walked into town and down to the rock pools and drove up to the otways. Thank you very much for a great experience.

Lovely position but very dirty

The location of the property was very good but we spent half a day cleaning the property on arrival which was filthy. Incredibly disappointing. Needless to say we won’t be going back.

Large house in lovely location

We had a lovely stay in the house over Easter with another family. The children had such fun in one lounge room while the adults could chat away in the other. The kitchen is large and very well appointed with all the basics needed to cook a hearty meal. The balcony welcomes King Parrots which are a delight to watch. The beds are all comfy although the two couches in the downstairs lounge room are pretty saggy. The garage downstairs was great to park in, shut the roller door and keep little kids safe. There is even an air hockey table and table tennis in there. We were appreciative that the empty gas bottle was changed in a matter of hours (on Easter Sunday!) and that we were able to have late checkout. This was our third stay and we hope to have a forth in the future.
