September 2016 Schiestlhaus, Hochschwab, Styria, Austria Morning view south from Hochschwab summit (alt. 2.227 meters) in the middle of Hochschwab mountain range. It is the most northern part of Alps which rises over 2.000 meters of altitude. There are basically no lifts in the Hochschwab, so you can enjoy it in its natural state. In September the weather is quite stable (although quite windy and freezing in the morning in the top parts) and only few tourists which get such rewarding views for the pain of hiking it by own feet. There is nice mountain hut called Schiestlhaus only 70 alt. meters below the Hochschwab summit, so you can get to the top both for the sunset or sunrise.

Afflenzer Staritzen range is part of the Hochschwab range in Austria and rise up to 2.000 m altitude. Seewiesen is a tiny village (alt. 974 meters) on the east end of Hochschwab and it is an ideal starting or ending point for hiking in the Hochschwab mountains.

The staff was very friendly, even though our room was not ready after 4pm. They then fixed it within 20+ minutes. In Expedia, it is mentioned that the center of town is 3 minutes away by car, but it is more like 10 minutes. And what is called a "mountain view" is a view on the parking lot.
