We've stayed at this property multiple times and it's always been a great base camp to explore Yosemite. Our kids love the big yard and it's so relaxing. We'll definitely be back!
Lovely little house with so much charm from the detailed decorations inside to the big rooster out from. The whole house oozes warm, comfy and welcoming. Thank you for allowing g us to spend Christmas at your lovely home.
I love this property and the coziness of the humble house at the end of the dirt road. It's quiet, relaxing, peaceful; just what I needed. My dogs and I stayed for a week, and wish we had another week. Maybe next year. There is a familiar comfort to this place, like you have just come home again.
We went to the area to lay my father-in-law to rest. The stay at this Vrbo was so peaceful and quiet it was easy to relax and the place was spotless. Thank you for everything!!!
We stayed here because we wanted to visit Yosemite and Grand Sequoia. We loved the cabin. The fenced yard was lovely for my dog. Jim was awesome, even though we had to wake him at 3am because the directions to get in weren't accessible via Vrbo's website (server error when trying to open the Word doc) so it was clearly Vrbo's server having an issue.
The house was very cozy! Plenty of room inside for myself, my husband, our son, and 2 dogs, and lots of space outside to walk our pups. Decently close to Oakhurst and Mariposa, and a pleasant drive to Yosemite. Jim was very responsive and helpful!
The property was simple and comfortable. One bedroom had a day bed with trundle that was a bit short for my 6ft. 2in husband but everything else was good. The kitchen was well equipped and nice extras like coffee was provided. It was 54 minutes from the park entrance and an easy drive.
I came to the area for the annual Firefall. I spent most time away from the house. Once i returned from hiking and taking pictures in the rain and snow. This home was perfect to come back to. The entire property is beautiful and inviting. I had a wonderful time and will defently be returning. Thanks again Jim.
4th time at this place and still amazing as always! Perfect after Yosemite and relaxing. Just sitting and enjoying is relaxing enough. I can’t find anything wrong with the house. Jim is amazing and responsive!
We enjoyed “The End of the Road” vacation home very much! It was in a beautiful quiet location, a very comfortable and relaxing getaway. It had everything we needed, and was bigger than we’d thought it would be. We visited Yosemite and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias while there, and the home was a good location between the two. We wish we’d been able to stay longer than 2 nights and hang out. Our host was easy to communicate with too. Thank you Jim, and VRBO, for such a wonderful stay! We hope to come back sometime, Melissa & Greg Stephens
WE SPENT MUCH OF EACH DAY JUST SITTING ON THE BIG SHADY PORCH, NOT HAVING TO TO BE ANYWHERE AT A CERTAIN TIME, OR EXPECTING ANYONE. JUST THOROUGHLY ENJOYING THE LACK OF NOISE, THE FAINT BIRDSONG, THE PERFECT MILD WEATHER. WISH WE COULD HAVE STAYED 3 TIMES AS LONG.
We enjoyed our stay a lot! The house is spacious with three bedrooms and a yard. The communication is great. The only issue we had is with a neighbor’s dog who was wandering offleash on the public road and attacked our small rescue dog. Luckily no serious injuries but dog owners please be careful!
This cabin is indeed at the end of a well-maintained dirt road...no traffic. The road is only about 1 1/2 miles long off the highway. The closest neighbor is about 1000 feet away and that house is currently vacant (June 2024). Thus, in the evening and most of the day, there is 100% quiet. It's a great cabin to just sit on the porch, listen to nothing, and re-energize onself. And if you miss the noise and traffic congestion of the big city, you can drive to Yosemite Valley which is about 90 minutes away and experience it there!
Being unfamiliar with the Yosemite NP area, I was astonished at the high cost and lack of availability & privacy with most of the lodging options, especially since our our son brought his dog along. Jim's property was perfect - reasonably priced, comfortable, clean, extremely private and well-supplied. He communicated promptly, and graciously extended us an hour extension on our departure, even though other guests were likely on the way. Another plus: the fastest Wifi of any rental we've ever used.
As for Yosemite, mid-may is definitely the ideal time to visit. The weather and waterfalls were extraordinary, and crowds were minimal; much less than we expected.
Remember that this location comes with the understanding that there is a bit of a drive to Yosemite, but it's quite scenic and relatively easy, especially using the CA140 entrance. It was surprising to read that the drive was a drawback sometimes expressed in the house guestbook by previous renters. Considering the cost, availability, and crowdedness of the few closer options, this is really as good as it can possibly get. Many thanks to Jim for a wonderful getaway!
Let me start by saying that the baby deer were adorable. We were so lucky to have them visit throughout the day. The house is exactly as described, the neighbors were so nice and it was QUIET. We've been working so hard and getting away even for just 2 days can recharge the mental battery more than one can imagine, this was the right place to escape to. The swing in the back was my favorite, so peaceful. The rooms were comfortable and private and the kitchen had everything you needed to make a meal although we didn't use it.
The only issue i had was not with the house or the stay it was with Expedia. The owner sent me check in instructions however when I opened the message it was blank. Jim was very responsive so it was more of an annoyance since he had already sent it.
The End of the Road is a fantastic place to stay! It's an easy drive to Mariposa/Yosemite and you can't beat it for comfort, quiet, and peace. All you hear is the sound of wind in the pines. I would stay again and would highly recommend!
