"We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We needed somewhere easy to stay after our Hobbiton tour and this ended up being an amazing spot. Our room had a lovely balcony with a tree view. The hotel feels brand new and is very well managed. I wish I had gotten her name, but the manager was so helpful and when she heard we were heading north took the time to show us how to pre-pay the toll (which we didn’t even know existed) online. The included breakfast was also great. We would book here again just for the hotel/staff experience. "

"Clean room with all I needed for my stay"

"The carpet was new and the bed was comfortable, everything else was old. Old is ok, but so many things were broken or uncared for. The light above the bed had fallen apart - theres no way they could miss that. I fixed it myself. The painting on the wall was hanging at 45 degrees. I straightened it up. Bathroom door wouldnt latch. Towel rail hanging loose. I dont understand how they can rent out rooms woth glaring faults like this. Its like nobody has set foot in there for a long time. Then theres the cleanliness - mostly things were clean, except for some thick dust around the TV, in the corners of the rooms, around the toilet paper dispenser, and the glasses had lipstick marks on them. Lots of spiderwebs around. Easy things not to miss. I just cant believe they had prepared this room for our stay - I dont think anyone had set foot in there for months. Then theres the staff - very friendly, but 5 minutes before 10am she walks into the room - no greetings or anything - and asks if we are leaving. We said of course, and she starts rambling about how she forgot to take a deposit. She takes the TV remotes from beside me on the couch and put them by the TV and said she had someone steal them before. Then she demanded we give her the key to the unit and left. It was very abrupt and confusing honestly."

"We loved the setting with mature trees and well cared for outdoor area's.The team were welcoming, breakfast was just right in a spacious area with indoor or outdoor options. A solid and characterfilled building ideal with good transport connections, near to the airstrip without the bustle of Central Hamilton. Great option for a meeting or conference as well as an escape"

"18th Ave Thermal - Tauranga Pros - Easy parking - Sleeps 4 - 1 king - 2 singles (but only seats 3 ?) - Full size fridge/freezer - Kitchenette ( but very dated) Cons - very old and tired chalet type rooms - Not air conditioned - Not insulated as it’s hot inside while it’s only 20* outside. - Fans provided are so noisy you’ll never get to sleep - Not soundproofed so you hear your neighbor use the toilet - No fly screens - Totally Dysfunctional layout - Wash basin tap plumbed the wrong way - hot was cold and vise-versa. With a little effort this motel could be a great place to stay as it’s really close to a shopping centre and has parking right outside your room. Unfortunately it’s badly in need of renovations to revamp kitchen and ensuite and more importantly to insulate (acoustic + thermal) and air condition each room. "
