"We stayed here for five nights. The property itself is beautiful, both inside and out, and the hosts were attentive and responsive, always providing anything we needed during our stay.
However, there were a few drawbacks. The road leading to the hotel is steep, narrow, rocky, and unpaved, which made access difficult and may not be suitable for very small or large vehicles. Our car got stuck going up various times. Parking is also limited, with only a few tight spaces. Unfortunately, my vehicle...

"There are two construction sites on the right and on the left of the appartment! This was not mentioned somewhere and Not Show in the pictures. It was a lot of noise and hammering from 8 am. We need to put the curtains on the one side, so that the workers did not Look into our Room. The appartment itself was okay. "

"This is such an amazing location, We loved watching sun and moon rises over the water. The self-catering apartments had everything we needed. One thing that would make it perfect would have been to have had a few extra cushions for the lovely wood and rattan furniture. "

"The hotel is very beautiful, nestled in the jungle overlooking Playa Mermejita, with beautiful sunset views. We stayed in an ocean-view room and waking up in the morning with the sound of the Pacific Ocean is one of the best experiences I have ever had.
Unfortunately, the food from Cacao restaurant, one of the two restaurants on the premises, was a bit underwhelming - given the eco-luxury style of the hotel, we would have expected a more lasting impression from our dinner there and the price-quality ratio was not great.
We stayed at Cocolia at the same time as a large group of people who had pre-booked the rooftop terrace of the Cacao restaurant for all their meals, from breakfast to dinner, every day. Given how beautiful the view is from the rooftop terrace, it would have been great to enjoy at least one breakfast on the terrace. Instead we were told that the terrace was off-limits to all the other hotel guests. A shame!
I had a very unpleasant accident on Playa Mermejita - something unrelated to Cocolia and its staff - and, upon my request, the front desk team called the doctor to come and visit me. While the doctor promptly arrived to the hotel, I would have appreciated receiving a bit more attention by the front desk team - one of my legs was bleeding and the emergency aid kit was only provided upon my request.
Other than this, the rest was great and I highly recommend Mazunte!"
"Beautiful and secluded. Great staff (from GM to Housekeeping) who were extremely accommodating, perfect weather. Sizable rooms that matched the pictures.
Only downside is it could probably use a bit of a refurb inside cabanas to limit insect entrance & integrate better bathroom fixtures, stealing from the Mandarina O&O playbook (e.g., here, doors don’t seal with ceiling.)"
"We had a great stay overall! Highlights included the exceptional staff, gorgeous sea views right off the beach, and the beautifully maintained grounds.
A couple of small drawbacks: the pool water was consistently lukewarm and didn't offer a refreshing cool-down on hot days. The restaurant also disappointed us in terms of service and food quality for a four-star property and its high prices, though town has amazing local spots to eat instead.
Despite these minor points, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again when back in Mazunte."
"We stayed 4 nights at the hotel Pochote in Mazunte. The room was very large with hot water and air conditioning. Despite looking out onto the main road thru town, it was very quiet during the evening hours. The staff are very friendly and on of the managers named Abi speaks excellent English"
"This is a really beautiful hotel. The room was stunning, super comfy bed and the pool area was perfect. I was slightly concerned about the location being too remote but the walk to the town was an easy(ish) 10 minutes and there were always taxis available to bring us back, day and night (only 100 pesos). We stayed out of season so were the only guests but the host, Luigi, could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The only disappointment was that no breakfast was available (due to low season). Given the location outside the town this wasn’t ideal. A fridge and coffee making facilities in the room would also have improved the stay. Overall though a stunning hotel which I would absolutely recommend."
"This hotel definitely comes with a bit of a workout — there are quite a few stairs to climb to get around the property. That said, it’s one of those rare cases where the effort genuinely pays off. The views from up top are absolutely stunning and make every step worth it.
The room itself was fantastic. It was spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The highlight, though, was the balcony — overlooking the ocean with a clear view of the sunset. It was the kind of view you don’t get tired of, no matter how many times you see it.
Service was fairly simple and no-frills, but the staff were attentive when needed and made sure things ran smoothly throughout my stay.
Another big plus is the location. It’s close enough to downtown to be easily walkable, which made exploring the area convenient without needing transportation.
Overall, if you don’t mind a bit of climbing, this place delivers where it counts — views, comfort, and a solid location."
