"We selected this room based on past positive experiences at other La Quintas, online reviews, photos of the property, and price for a room in the area. When we arrived the front lobby smelled musty and fans were running like there had been significant water damage that was being cleaned up. The receptionist was very friendly, professional and attentive to us. We were tired, had a rough long drive, ready for sleep. The elevator gave the first pause. The walls were dingy/worn, elevator rode rough, got to the room and overpowered with a musty/mold smelling room. We aren’t bougie, but this room was too much for us to stay in. We talked to the receptionist, she said all other rooms were booked, but said she could get us refunded so we could find a different hotel. Holiday Inn Express across the street was accommodating, didn’t smell like mold like the La Quinta room, but price was way higher. We’ll have to stop again next time we pass through but think we’ll stop in another town instead of Vicksburg. The receptionist saved La Quinta for me, but I don’t know that I’ll use that hotel brand a"
