"Our room was clean and beautiful and so was the hotel. From a design standpoint every space was lovely and interesting, the artwork that was chosen was pleasing and added to a high end/minimalist western aesthetic
My only qualm was the absolute insane wait time for breakfast. It took about 30 minutes to seat us and another 20 to take our order. I gave 4 stars for the staff because I couldn't tell you if it was an issue with the wait staff or management not hiring enough help/over working them. I waitressed about 10 years ago and didn't think the breakfast was very busy but it's hard to say what else they could be responsible for in the back. Also, the wait staff was extremely friendly despite the wait time and the breakfast bowl was delicious.
The bloody Mary had no vegetables or garnish which was a disappointment! I would think it could be elevated to be a Texan style with some options. The bartender was very nice and professional though so again, 4 stars for staff because I truly think they were doing the best they could and maybe management needs to tighten things up on their end."
Hyatt Vacation Club at Wild Oak Ranch, San Antonio
6/10 Okay
"The place is luxurious and unique, but I wish I had known when I booked that this is a timeshare. I just wanted a quiet hotel after an extremely long day of traveling, but the concierge wanted me to book an "informational session." I finally relented so I could get to the room and relax, but the sales team called me TWICE that night and TWICE the next morning to "remind me to bring my credit card and ID with me" to the session. Definitely not relaxing to be disturbed that frequently. I think the facilities are beautiful, but I wish hotels.com or even some of the reviews would have clued me in to the nature of the property, as I just thought I was staying at a nicer Hyatt hotel with upgraded amenities, not a timeshare that would make my entire stay about selling me a timeshare. You couldn't even take advantage of the "free Starbucks coffee and gourmet pastries" they advertised without being hounded, because they are only available at the media/presentation lounge. Maybe I was just gullible and should have done more homework before I booked, but I thought others should be aware if they're booking through hotels.com, as well, since that is not made clear on the hotels.com site."
"First impressions beautiful, yet they were in the process of updating and so a little painting and caulking in the bathroom, would’ve made a difference. The bed was nice but I didn’t realize I am allergic to down bedding so next time I will request synthetic bedding. The front desk staff were excellent! Friendly and welcoming and helpful at all times. The restaurant was nice. My food was good I had Pesto Linguine with added chicken. but my husband was not happy with his meal. From the recommendation of our waiter, my husband had the chicken fried steak. His meal had little to no gravy on the steak and potato mash was plain. Which gravy is a staple of that type of meal, so when asking for more gravy to put on them both he was done eating the whole thing without it before it came out and he was still charged extra for it. His vegetables melody on the side were mushy and without variety. Again he asked recommendations for the desert and with exaggeration the waiter told him about the size of a slice of cake that two could eat. Well worth the $12. Price. When seeing that it was your basic average size. All in all, it was are anniversary staycation and we didn’t want to make a fuss, over the $140 meal. In comprehension of other Spa hotels we have stayed, The Hotels or Restaurants put more effort on our anniversary and always made us complimentary desserts or drinks as a show of celebration of our marriage, paving a path for future patronage."
"We had a great 3 nights of vacation at this property. My 5yr old daughter had a blast enjoying the lazy river and the warm pool, and so did I! It was great to have the pool set in a natural setting under trees, etc - beautiful experience. The lagoon was great too. I liked that they put together so many activities, especially for kids, and shared an itinerary of events for the whole week - it made it so much easier for us to plan our days. The room itself was very comfortable…we enjoyed the balcony with views of the greenery around. We had a wonderful lunch at the Springhouse Cafe one of the days. Since we were vegetarians we didn’t bother much with the other restaurants. But within 10-15 mins driving distance there were a few good options. I loved that all the staff badges show where they were from. I thought that was a great touch and allowed for warm conversations and made the interactions personable!
Overall, it is an excellent property. It is a no-brainer to stay here especially if you have kids. We would gladly recommend this to anyone, amd would love to come back here!"
