we accepted having to travel across town to get the key, we accepted having to lug our cases up and down the stairs as there was no lift access to the 13th floor but I would not recommend. The service consisted of changing towels and emptying bin, no new linen, no bed made, no vaccuming. The bathroom was extremely dirty, floors creaked and you could hear the constant drone of the lift. I cannot believe Hotels.com rate this as 4 stars... a joke. We have stayed in may countries and have never experienced such poor service and dirtiness. No wifi,
Having to travel 20 minutes with luggage after a flight to get the keys to the apartment is just stupid in this day and age.....
You should change to a key pad so that travellers never have this issue.
Luckily i also had an Australian sim card otherwise i would have been screwed as needed to call multiple times the after hours service desk.
Tram stop just outside your door, 5 min walk to Bourke Street Mall, and everything else you need is so close by. Perfect location, quite apartment which was very clean and had everything you need in it. Will stay there again for sure.
I didn't read the fine print and found out after I booked that I had to pick up the key from Carlton which is about half an hour walk away. How annoying! When I got to the hotel I had to go to level 15 but the elevator only goes to 14?! With the exception of the kitchen area, the apartment was very tired and drab. The blinds are not block out so city lights are visible when you're trying to sleep. You will need to bring someone who has a degree in electrical engineering to operate the 10+ year old TV and digital box. The bed should have had 6 legs but one was broken off resulting in a bed which leans to one side.
This 'Hotel' doesn't have its name PLUM displayed. It doesn't have a reception. We did not have a code to punch in so were not able to enter. It was late Easter Monday. Thankfully Expedia found a room for us at the nearby Causeway 353 hotel which was excellent.
PLUM is not a hotel- it is an apartment block.
Was very disappointed. Blinds broken, no blockout one. Filthy carpet. Horrible smell in room. Pillow smelled horrible. An overall unclean feel to it. Stayed b4 at plum apartments in Southbank and that was good.
The actual room is great however not being able to leave bags at the venue and having to collect keys from Carlton was unexpected when I booked. It was in the fine print however I don't usually check where I collect keys from. I will do now but just in this case it soured my experience.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Convenient to city attractions
The room was at Level 15. I had to haul a heavy suitcase up two short flights of stairs. The tv had a loud hum obvious at all volumes. The bed was comfortable. The general appearance was a little shabby with the carpet joint split, missing edging on carpet and not quite clean enough bathroom facilities. Blind fittings were unsecure
We stayed at Plum on Collins St for one night. Having to collect the keys from the other end of the city and return them there the next day was very inconvenient. Our room was supposed to have a balcony but it didn't and we couldn't even open the windows. This wouldn't have been such an issue if the room was clean but everything, including the vents suppling all our air, was absolutely caked in dust. The walls and couch were filthy, the carpet had massive threads missing, there was food left in the freezer and fake eyelashes and mould in the bathroom. The bed was two very uncomfortable single beds pushed together with sheets that didn't even cover the whole mattress. I called immediately to complain and was told I would receive a call from management. I didn't get a call (although they claimed they tried to call when I rang back two hours later) We didn't have time to make other arrangements so had to stay there the night. I woke up very congested from all the dust in the air. The only positive was that management refunded our booking fee after hearing and being shown photos of how poor the room was.

Great location
We enjoyed our stay in Plum Collins, although we were disappointed about the lack of Wifi. We would think that Wifi is standard, especially in the centre of the city. There was also no hangers in the wardrobe. Aside from that, the location of these apartments is fantastic, only a few minutes walk to Flinders St Station and also Bourke St mall.
The room looked nothing like the pictures. The cleanliness of the room was really bad. There is no reception on site or help on site and the place to get your keys is not in the tram free zone. There is no where convenient to leave your bags for the day. The staff were hovering outside your room for you to leave so they could “clean” it. The only good part of this hotel is the location is excellent.
This a very comfortable well appointed hotel suitable for a stay of a few days in the centre of the city which allows visitors to walk to most of the city's features. However the silly arrangement of having to walk several blocks, or catch a tram to Carlton meant it was a very poor start on a hot and humid day.
My husband and I were extremely pleased with the apartment. It had everything we needed and was the most comfortable bed i had stayed in for a while. Thank you for making our weekend without the kids a good one :)

Chek in if you can find it!
Didn't realise (in the small print) that checkin was actually 500 metres down the road from the apartments - requiring the extra taxi expense. Information like this should be highlighted not hidden

great hotel and perfect location
first of all, reception desk is on Swanson St and where you actually stay is on Collin St (1.7km walking distance). ive got a very nice room but the floor makes a rumbling sound, air vent doesnt work in the toilet, there is no room cleaning during the day and the view from balcony is blocked by instruction buildings.

Very centrally located nice apartment. No wifi
The location is excellent. The place is clean and in a nice building. A full kitchen gave the option to have breakfast in the unit and plan the day's activities. Only drawback was the lack of wifi.
This room was so poor that we received a full refund and stayed elsewhere for the rest of our stay. We are not generally complainers, and have never moved motels mid-stay before.
Some of the low lights of this room:
- carpet was stained in various locations
- carpet was ripped (separated by more than several cm in places) nearly the whole way across the room
- kitchen flooring was timber, and lounge was carpet, and the metal strip which covers the join was missing for 2/3 of the junction. This left a sharp trip hazard which our daughter tripped on.
- carpet was dirty, it had solids stuck on it which could be removed by scratching with your shoe
- access to the room required going up the elevator, and then up a flight a stairs. Not a huge drama, until you have to take kids & belongings up.
- a no smoking sticker on the window, less than 2 feet from the bed, was covered in mould
- open packets of food in the cupboards & freezer
- no valance on the bed, it was just sheets on the top of the bed and an exposed bottom of the bed
- the television was 23inch, advertised as 32inch
- mini fridge, advertised as a full sizes fridge
- called to complain about the state of the room, and was told my phone call would be returned within 10 minutes. I had to call back an hour later. The second person I spoke to was extremely helpful, and organised a full refund within minutes.
Picked for location and looked nice on website. Later found out check in was a 10 minute drive away - not ideal when you arrive at midnight! Picked up keys and guy working was quite friendly. Arrived at apartments (with barely anything marked with Plum) to find you had to take lift to the floor above to then walk downstairs to get to our level (given the guy had explained this). The room was small but clean. We had booked it as a share for 3 adults, yet fold out couch not made. The floor was extremely creaky making it difficult to walk around quietly! The next day upon showering discovered there was only two towels. On calling reception I was offered to come to the office 10 mins away to pick one up to which I declined. They then offered to taxi one over which I felt bad accepting. He suggested that the next day housekeeping would be there and could drop one off which I thought was a reasonable compromise. It never came...
This really was just a place to sleep with good location but I don't think I will be back

Average hotel, average price was advertised with balcony got to my room and their was no balcony.
I booked this apartment as the location looked good. I guess I was silly not to read reviews before I booked, and only checked at the airport before I flew out to Australia. On these reviews it stated the keys have to be fetched at another venue. I was not told anywhere that this was the case so luckily I read the reviews, otherwise I would have been in a pickle! So, on arrival I had to catch a taxi up to collect the keys and then a taxi to the apartment. As I'm older and it was at night I did not think I could cope with walking, trams etc. When I got dropped off at the street number there was no sign to show that it was the apartment. Then I was on the 15th floor and the lift stops at the 14th floor and I had to lug my suitcase up a flight of stairs. The TV remote didn't work which was the final irritation of a long night! Although they advertise it as a serviced apartment, on the blurb inside it spoke about light servicing only. And this was only during the week. Department certainly could do with a revamp, very old and grubby.
