Travelers should be aware that the hotel does not allow 4 adults to stay in the triple rooms even though the room has a queen bed and two singles. This limitation is buried in their terms and doesn’t make a great deal of sense. The only explanation we received was that “it is the rule”.

A bit disappointing
Melk is a beautiful little town and a nice place to shop. The hotel is situated in a good place but it is quite dated, the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good. Unfortunately the rooms have no air conditioning and it was very hot. Some of the floors are split level so be prepared to carry your luggage up a few stairs.

The pictures of hotel are deceiving as I never did see the restaurant with the brick as displayed in the pictures. It may be a picture of the distillery down the street. There is dated carpet in the rooms so be sure to bring your “inside shoes”. Very clean and very friendly frontline staff and parking is onsite which is a plus.

Beautiful property in the picturesque town of Melk. Super convenient to the train. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Loved hearing birds sing outside our window. Definitely recommend.

Excellent location
We were happy with our stay, the food was good, the service was good, the bad comfy and location of the hotel was excellent!!! the staff were helpful, friendly and professional. It was comfortable stay!

We enjoy the stay, location is good, walk to the old town in a few minutes. Room is comfortable except no air conditioning in the room which would be a set back if weather getting hot.

Nice hotel in Melk. Hotel rooms are relatively basic but the breakfast was really good, very nice coffee and a side selection of cold cuts yogurt fruit and pastries The quality of bread and pastry also the coffee was far better than regular North America’s hotels They were cafe quality

Nice but need to improve!
Melk has hot days every summer. This hotel does not have AC. That's why it is hard to understand that they don't have enough fans to at least provide guests in each room some air movement to deal with the high temps (80F+) in the rooms. We got lucky and got one, only to get a knock at the door from hotel staff asking that we return it so that other guests on the "warmer side of the hotel," who didn't have the fan that was intended for their use, could use it. It turns out they only have enough fans for rooms facing the south and west side, upon request. We refused to let ours go and were amazed at the staff/management's lack of tact in even suggesting that we return the device given that our room was very uncomfortable without the benefit of a fan. Why not have fans available for every room given that these hot days are not unusual ... or invest in AC? Seems like the fans would be the easiest, most economical choice. Needless to say, this incident really took an otherwise pleasant experience at the hotel down several notches. The breakfast at the hotel was very good and associated staff was friendly and helpful. Reception staff was average to indifferent in their interaction with us.

Cramped quarters in Melk
We enjoyed our visit to Melk and its fabulous Abbey, and found the old town itself fascinating. We should have stayed longer... The hotel itself was a little disappointing. While there were no problems with check-in, cleanliness, breakfast, and so on, our room was poor. After using the elevator, we still had a flight of stairs to negotiate with our luggage (no help offered, though I am physically challenged) and found our room was an attic. We had hoped for a double bed at least, or even a king-sized bed, but what we got was a pair of single beds, one of which was jammed under the sloping roof so that to rise from it was dangerous. The room indeed had only three walls and a sloping roof, which made all movement perilous. The room was very hot, and we had to ask for help to prop the only window open to let in some air. Even then, the heat was oppressive until a member of staff brought a floor fan which we left running all day and all night. Everything else about our stay was fine, but the room was a big disappointment.

WiFi was not available in the room first assigned to me. I was given another room after a vehement protest. Room furnishings were minimal and ordinary. Breakfast was well stocked and pleasing with good service.

Good stay. Would recommend
Short one night stay. Room was clean and comfortable. A little warm but ok. Local area is great. Very close to Melk Abbey. Free parking was very good. Entry to free parking tight if come in front way from Wienersrasse. There is a back entrance to lot. Check in very fast and efficient. Free breakfast was excellent. We would recommend staying here.

Clean, quiet, great location.
Excellent hotel in a great location. Room was spacious for our family of 4. Very clean and tidy and in good condition. Excellent breakfast. Free parking was nice and location can’t be beat. We would certainly stay here again.

The hotel is a few minutes away from the abbey and is right in the middle of the historic part of Melk. It is clean and there is even a steam room to relax. The parking is free.

Tricked at the front desk.
Everything was great but the 3 of us felt we were tricked about the laundry. We asked the front desk clerk if they had a local laundry mat. He quickly and happily said "Leave it with us and we will take care of it!" we were so excited and even thought "that is soooo nice". Upon check out the same guy said oh you owe us for the laundry.. I asked so how much and it was 60 Euros!! All he had to do is say we can do it for you for a fee. I think it was his willingness to offer that as a service to us, that was deceiving. Other than that, the place was perfect...Would be nice if they would credit my card back for this un expected laundry charge...

Please understand that we as well as most other hotels in our price segment *** will charge for this service. I agree with you that the front desk could have mentioned that there is a charge for this extra service but this is why we leave our pricelist in the rooms for the guests to judge themselfs if they want to use this service or not.
