Located in the heart of Calvados, the peaceful village of Meuvaines charms visitors with its authentic Norman character, nestled between lush countryside and a coastline steeped in history. Nestled just a few minutes from the famous D-Day beaches, this small village offers a quiet and rejuvenating setting, ideal for a holiday with family or friends.

Marked by the events of June 6, 1944, Meuvaines is part of the Gold Beach sector, one of the Allied D-Day landing beaches in Normandy. The region still preserves numerous historical sites and memorials today, set within a pristine natural environment of dunes, marshes, and the Normandy bocage.

In the immediate vicinity, you can explore the seaside resorts of Arromanches-les-Bains and Courseulles-sur-Mer, renowned for their beaches, markets, restaurants, and museums dedicated to the D-Day landings. The famous artificial harbour at Arromanches is still visible from the sea and is one of the region’s major historical sites.

The surrounding area also offers many activities: walks along the coast, hikes on the GR®223 trail, cycling tours with Vélomaritime, water sports, local markets, and tastings of Norman specialities. History buffs will enjoy a visit to the Juno Beach Centre, a Canadian museum dedicated to the D-Day landings.

With its blend of sea, history, and countryside, Meuvaines is an ideal destination for discovering authentic Normandy in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere.

Excellent location close to Asnelles (Gold Beach). Quiet village with no traffic. House was clean with 8 beds. Kitchen with laundry room equipped with basic needs. We however missed coffee cups! Bathrooms are nicely decorated and working well. The downside is that the living room offered poor seating and we did not use this space. Also the garden is advertised, but unfortunately overgrown with weeds and unattractive. Outdoor seating was poor and insufficient. Luckily there was a BBQ.
