We stayed for 3 nights and had the whole property to ourselves. We did day trips out but were always keen to come back to enjoy the view and the peace! The house had everything you could ask for (except for ceiling fan or pedestal fans in the bedrooms) but overall we are looking forward to booking this place again for longer and maybe in the cooler months. Communication and directions were great and easy to follow.

Amazing location with privacy, views and beach access. Comfortable accommodation, clean and basic. Appreciated the supply and top up of fire wood to help on a couple of chilly nights.

Had two main requirements, view and open fire. The view was fantastic, our own private beach although winter was amazing. The sunsets were spectacular. Combustion heater with plenty of fire wood was just what we asked for.

We stayed for three nights at King George Beach Retreat, and wish we could have stayed a week! We will be booking again very soon. Chris and his family were excellent hosts.

This property is in a beautiful, peaceful location. We had this gorgeous beach to ourselves as even though two other houses (one still being built) are on the same private parcel of land, there was no one else staying at the time. The house is a little tired and not fancy, but it was clean and well equipped. The location is hard to beat and we were delighted to stay there. We even saw an echidna in the yard on our last night! We’d happily book again.

Rustic beach house on the north coast. The bay/location is truly incredible. There are some unsealed roads to reach the property, but well worth the journey!

We loved our stay, great directions to the property, clear communication with our host, easy check-in and a fantastic place to stay. We marveled at the view, watched the many different animals and overall just relaxed. Sunsets on the deck were a favourite time. We left hoping to visit again soon.

Loved the views from very second you drive in through the gates, amazing views from inside, wake up every morning to amazing views, swim and fish all day night and relax in the evening watching sunset.

The view from this property is simply stunning With its own private beach access and a umbrella set up ready for a blissful private visit, this property feels like home away from home. I tried to read a book in the afternoons but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the beach view and the sun setting over the ocean. Once the sun went down we enjoyed the second lounge space facing the wood fire heater playing cards and just relaxing. We appreciated the owner contacting us on our night of arrival to ensure we didn’t get lost and checking in with us to ensure we had everything we needed. We loved our 5 night stay and enjoyed everything kangaroo island has to offer, including the friendly locals which made our stay a time we will cherish

Just spent 4 nights at this unique spot! Remote, rugged, jaw dropping view from house, sunshine, storms, swimming, walks on the beach, drinks with Chris, what more can you want? Will be back for sure

If you’re looking for a room with a view… this is it. Magnificent. Walks along the beach all to yourself… heaven. Would appreciate some outdoor shade and comfy lounge to catch up on the long overdue reading. A little closer monitoring of the kitchen cupboard contents would be appreciated. But we enjoyed our stay immensely, revisiting places we’d seen before and finding many new places of beauty. KI is a gem.

Stunning views, peaceful and relaxing stay. We stayed at this wonderful property for our honeymoon and enjoyed the time to relax and unwind. It’s the perfect spot to disconnect and just breathe. The host was wonderful, even offering to pick up things for us from Kingscote if we needed! We will be back!

Pros: The location of this place is superb as long as you don’t mind being isolated. The beach it overlooks and the land it is set on is really beautiful. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. There is little phone reception and no TV reception which we really appreciated as it allowed us to truly cut off. The beds are comfy and warm with electric blankets. There was plenty of wood for the fireplace. The host is lovely and communication with him was good. Cons: to be completely honest, I thought the place was quite overpriced. For what we paid, I expected better. In general, the home looks tired and the wet areas particularly are in need of maintenance or updating. There was no tea, coffee or sugar in the kitchen which I would think is a basic inclusion. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but do believe you’re paying for the view.

The house is full of character and we felt right at home from the minute we stepped inside. The fire and the spectacular views were mesmerising. Highly recommend the house for its charm and Chris was a fabulous host providing detailed communication for our stay as well as a well stocked wood heap for the fire! Loved the welcome from the sheep too!

From the moment you arrive you feel at home. The view is absolutely breathtaking and the sound of the waves rocks you to sleep each night! We woke up to the most stunning sunrises before exploring the area each day. We then enjoyed a wine on the deck each night watching the sunset before enjoying the most spectacular show of stars before retiring to the lounge for a warm fire. The private beach doesn’t disappoint either! If you need to completely switch off from the world and slow down- this is the place!

Location and surroundings were spectacular … Whilst the house is pretty basic it’s all you need … the lack of TV and wifi was a bonus and enabled true relaxation and a chance to just be present … Chris was very hospitable and welcoming and had wood stocked up for open fires each night . You Don’t realise how busy life is until you visit this beautiful part of the world . Thank you Chris for sharing it with us .

This property is perfectly placed to take in the views of King George Beach and the surrounding landscape. The beach is pristine, presents great photo opportunities or a place to relax and unwind. If the weather isn't conducive to being outside, the panoramic views from the living room is the perfect substitute. Highly recommend.

The timber cottage offered us exactly what we needed. Peacefully ocean waves, private beach, dolphins, fishing and view that never timers. We enjoyed quality time with the family and hope to return.

Chris’s property was by far more than we could have imagined. A truly beautiful part of the island that took my breath away when I saw the view from the property. The peace, surrounding nature and remoteness allowed us to totally switch off from the outside world. Thank you Chris for our wonderful stay and your hospitality.

Myself, wife and our 3 kids stayed at this amazing & beautiful beach home for 3 days and we had a wonderful time! The weather was sunny and we most enjoyed the short walk down to the beach. We took our own rods and our sons caught fish on the last day and it was a perfect dinner to end our memorable stay. A massive thank you to Chris, we appreciated his hospitality and kindness. We will miss the beautiful sound of the waves, the breath taking ocean views and the stunning sunsets. I recommend this place if you want to relax and embrace natures beauty...a slice of heaven!

Location, location, location! Hard to describe just how stunning the position of this house is, overlooking perhaps the most beautiful beach on KI. safe swimming and snorkelling and rock walking. Fabulous views, peace and quiet and perfectly comfortable, although now some years old. Well equipped, comfortable beds, friendly owner. Some fire damage around, but miraculous escape for this property and the result of the fires by no means detract from the experience.

Chris’ place is so special - the photos do not do the view justice, and we were awe-struck by this magical little spot. From sitting out on the patio watching the sunset, to swimming with pods of dolphins to star-gazing, we fell in love with every moment. I would stress that Chris’ place is very remote (part of the charm) and it’s a 45 minute drive to the nearest supermarket, so if you are looking to get off the grid, it’s perfect.

We absolutely loved our stay, and have seriously thought about moving to the island! The view is incredible with so much wildlife and privacy. It was a great central location for our day trips around the island. Highly recommend!

The house is smartly designed to capture the views perfectly from within. You're on the sand dunes (built when that was permitted, now it's not) of a stunning sandy beach with small surf some days and dead calm others. Private access only through the property, this is a world class beach very people know about or see. Not to be mistaken for the rocky cove at the end of King George Beach Road.

Our 3 night stay at this beachfront home was amazing. The house was very comfortable and stylish and we loved the fire even in November. Magnificent views from inside or even better on the deck. Very private and the beach just a stroll down the dune. Chris made our stay so pleasant with a welcoming fire and a chat with some wine. I would certainly recommend this stay and hope to come back one day in the summer to swim. Half way to all the KI places of interest, a bit of driving required but worth it for a prime beach getaway. Loved it!!

This fabulous home facing the most amazing beach and sea view as far as the eye can see, it is just breathtakingly beautiful. A Short walk down to the beach, Will have you feeling like you are on your very own island. It has a well equipped kitchen, great wood burning fire, sherian linen, lovely furnishings and magnificent view from every room!! I have really enjoyed my 6 night stay here and would love to return again. Chris is a wonderful host and his ‘little sisters’ are super sweet. We spent a full week on Kangaroo Island (1 location of in total 4 at which each we spent at least a full week) and made hikes car trips starting from there. Already the location above the beach, so solitary (what we love), solitary except for that the host, Chris, lives there part of the year and was there 5 of the 7 days we stayed there. Chris is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, we enjoyed chatting with him. He allowed us to use his internet connection (which was necessary for me due to actual business issues), he invited us one evening for a chat with wine plus some snacks. - He is an exceptionally good host! Thanks, Chris, for having built this gem on this extraordinaryly interesting island, where alone I have taken hundreds of bird and other nature photos!
