It seems that we were only the second HomeAway visitors that Betty has hosted, and the first to complete a review, so here goes.
First, and most importantly for HomeAway travelers, the home is exactly as shown in the pictures. Well, that is, except that the pictures don't begin to do it justice. It's all well and good to say that the views are spectacular, but the property delivers in spades. The bedrooms are large and airy, the baths clean and light, the living room warm and cozy, and the kitchen-dining room area simply stunning. There are adequate dishes, linens, and other stuff to feed and sleep a dozen or so folks without having to wash up every few minutes. On the other hand, the original description of the property (since changed) said there were four bedrooms. As it turns out, the ground floor bedroom is being used as the owner's storage space. It was a surprise to find no access to the fourth bedroom, but the remaining three were more than adequate. We give it an A for infrastructure and value.
The location is on the Ring of Kerry and only a few miles from the Dingle Loop. We did both from Betty's place, and it was a pleasure. Killorglin Town is home to several excellent restaurants, and Jack's Coastguard Restaurant on nearby Cromane Strand is world-class. We give it an A+ for location.
We had the singular pleasure of spending time with the housekeepers, comparing notes and making suggestions. They have a great sense of humor and are very personable, but, more importantly, have a clear understanding how a HomeAway should be maintained. There were a few hiccups that can be attributed to this being a new listing, and which should be well under control directly. We give it an A for cleanliness and maintenance.
All that said, the views are why you need to stay here. This setting is a rare jewel. Sit outside with your coffee and admire the mountains. Take your lunch outside and smell the green. Have your dram of p'cheen in the twilight with the birdsong. It's deliriously romantic there.
In short, very highly recommended. Thanks, Betty, for sharing your home with us!
