Wonderful week at Broadkill Beach

Having rented homes on the water for over 30 years we found "Great Escape" to be rated in the top tier. Starting with Tess the owner's communication and endless information to be accurate and valuable. The house was immaculate with everything needed for an enjoyable week. This was our 8th stay at this beautiful home. It has become the family's favorite place to be together. Some of the grandchildren were 7 on their first vacation here and now are 18 and still look forward to staying at our "Broadkill Beach House". The younger grandchildren are experiencing the fun too. Tess makes you feel so welcome and cannot do enough to make your visit easy and relaxing. The updates to the house and amenities are 5-star hotel quality! Not having to bring linens makes packing much lighter! We are so grateful to Tess for providing such a wonderful place to make family memories!

Family Beach Vacation

We loved our stay here in broadkill for the second year in a row. Tess and Andy were extremely responsive to everything we needed and the house is perfect for our family. Very relaxing and we enjoyed every minute of it!

Paradise on the bay

We had a wonderful stay!! The house is well stocked and it felt like home…with a better view ;) The sunroom was a favorite and the kids loved playing in the bay. Thank you for making our vacation so enjoyable!!

Beachfront Tranquility

Beachfront Tranquility is a beautiful home. Our family appreciated the well-appointed kitchen, nice furnishings and the morning sunrise was absolutely beautiful. This rental was exactly as described in the listing, and it was very clean and well maintained.

Beach Bliss

Love the house & the gorgeous views! Test made everything very easy to get in, stay, and check out. House was well stocked, we brought infants along and all of the necessary items to keep them happy and fed were at the house waiting for us. The views were amazing, Beach was awesome, sunrises were the best.

Amazing views, well-equipped home, wonderful host

This was the perfect accommodation for our 13 family members spanning four generations. The view and location cannot be topped. The home is so beautiful, spacious, and well laid out. We loved sitting on the deck, kayaking, walking the beach, and enjoying the hot tub. The fully equipped kitchen was icing on the cake. Tess made us feel so welcome and able to relax and enjoy.

Fabulous Beach House

This was our second stay at Tess's home and was equal to our first. The house is outstanding. Amazing views from multiple locations inside and out. A comfortable and easy place to feel at home and lots of room for our extended family to spread out or gather together. Clean and well stocked. The beach is private, easy to access, and perfect for a family with young children. Tess is a terrific host. Immediately responsive to our inquiries.

Another great family vacation

This was our family’s 3rd year vacationing at Beachfront Tranquility. We love the views of the water from the house and how short the walk is to the beach. Although public, it feels like a private beach. We enjoyed making campfires on the beach and the sunrises over the water are beautiful for the early risers. Everything you need (kitchen utensils, towels, soap, linens) is supplied making packing much easier. We did have a glitch with the AC, but Tess and Andy were extremely responsive and got the problem resolved quickly. We are already planning to come back next year.

Beach Heaven

Beautiful, well cared for home with views from virtually every room. Easy walk on a private path to the quiet beach. Lovely and comfortable furnishings. Large enough space for our family of 8 adults and 5 children. Well stocked kitchen. Luxurious and plentiful towels, beach towels and linens. Lots of games, toys for indoor and outdoor play. Tess was easy to reach and responsive to our questions. We look forward to our return.

Beautiful quiet getaway!

This home is everything it says to be and more. The home has a welcoming beach themed decor. You don’t need to bring much. Plenty of beach items, toys, chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, and kitchen items. Oven and grill were perfect. Tons of extra blankets and towels. To keep sandy areas clean in house there were brooms and vacuums. Everyone on the beach in nearby homes were nice. Extremely peaceful and the extra sunroom was the best. The temperature was perfect in house. Games and books galore. We saw dolphins and some sand sharks way out. There is a hot tub that looked cleaned and was warm. The bathrooms were well stocked and nicely updated. There’s a small store up the road to get some essentials and ice cream. The town of Milton was quaint and the easiest for grocery shopping. Other beach areas had tons of restaurants and oh my the Tanger Outlets were perfect for tons of shopping deals. Would definitely come back again! Hosts are very sweet, prompt and extremely helpful!

Beachfront House with incredible views!

Beachfront tranquility offers a stunning waterfront retreat with scenic beach surroundings, bright windows and spacious rooms. The house had everything you could need, easily labeled and accessible. This place was exactly as described in the pictures and photos. Our family enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the kids enjoyed time on the beach flying kites, "saving the horseshoe crabs" that were upside down, watching the wildlife, and easy access to the beach. Although remote and set apart in a quiet area, the location allowed us easy access to great restaurants, shopping, and a short drive to Rehoboth Beach. Tess was a terrific host to work with and very responsive day and night! I highly recommend staying at this property if you are visiting the Broadkill Beach area! We hope to definitely be back!

Family Gathering

This property is well managed, stocked and organized making it very easy to just relax. Taking advantage of its beachfront, the house provides views from all the living areas. It may be an older home but the new appliances and furnishings make it fresh. From 80 yrs to 5.. we all found our spots with plenty of room to spread out. The bay flies were kept at bay by the constant breeze making a full day at the beach very pleasant. It was great to have all the beach equipment at hand we put the provided kayak to good use! It was so nice to be away from the tourist traps and in a natural beach area. The fox trotting along the shoreline at sunset was priceless! Thank you for sharing this lovely home.

Perfect beach house

You will not find a more perfect place for your beach vacation than Beachfront Tranquility. Tess is incredibly responsive and caring about her guests with great communication and many tips to offer. The house is incredibly well appointed for a large family who enjoys cooking, games, and easy access to the beach. Our littlest 2 year old easily navigated the path to the beach and was able to be very independent in the calm shallow waters of the bay. The kayak and hot tub are big hits with the older boys and the well appointed kitchen with our culinary crew feeding our large group. When you walk through the door of Beachfront Tranquility you see directly through to the ocean - and it's that way from anywhere in the house. Even on gloomy or rainy days, you can sit in virtually any room and still view and enjoy the ocean. We absolutely love this house - and it's owners!

Memorable Family Vacation

Our long weekend in this beautiful home was absolutely amazing. My wife, adult children, grandkids and I had one of our best vacations ever. The house was spacious and comfortable in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen was well supplied with appliances, cookware, utensils, plates, etc. In addition, we had plenty of beach paraphernalia including chairs, kayaks, toys, and wood for a bonfire. The ocean was literally in our back yard. My 4 year old grandson could not get enough of the beach where he and I would play for hours. Plus, each room of the house had a great view of the water. Our hosts, Tess and Andy Wald, were committed to ensuring we had a pleasurable stay in Broadkill. Tess in particular was very responsive to our needs - even months before our arrival - and urged us to ask her questions. When I inquired about something for our grandson she ensured Amazon delivered it to the house within 48 hours. Now that's above and beyond in my book. We created many wonderful memories during this vacation. Thanks Tess and Andy for a wonderful stay.

Beachfront Serenity

In summary: we've already booked this house for next year! This was our third and best annual trip to Broadkill. The house is fantastic, location perfect and the owner welcoming, accommodating and responsive. Our group of 11 (6 A; 5 K) appreciated having ALL linens, garbage bags, soaps, sand supplies, etc. provided. It really cut down on packing. The kitchen was great. The adults loved the coffee grinder, French press and tea kettle for the mornings and the excellent blender easily handled aioli for grilled lamb kabobs. The convection oven kept the kids supplied with Dino-Nuggets and they enjoyed choosing their favorite colors of plates, cups and utensils. There is only one fridge, so we made a beverage cooler on the deck and bought ice every few days. The beds were comfy and the two older boys loved their own room for TV and occasional down time. Nonie and Pa relaxed on their sunporch for early morning reading with beautiful sunrises. We used chairs, umbrellas, sand toys and the two-person kayak and life jackets. We did not try the hot tub. We hiked the fun, easy Boardwalk Trail in nearby Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. (Do take bug spray.) Prime Hook also has a good little gift shop. When the wind blows from the west, yes, there are days with bugs, but that's why Delaware Bay is full of life -- birds, fish, aquatic creatures. From the sunroom we even watched a turtle lay her eggs. If you're looking for natural beauty, peace and solitude, this place is for you.

This is our fifth year at Tess’s beautiful home on the beach. We continue to return because it feels like home to all my family…so welcoming. The beach is usually ours alone, the water is perfect for my grandchildren (ages 9-17) and for the adults too. Tess is wonderful and we can’t wait to return next year. Cheers Tess

Absolutely incredible

This home is beautiful. Incredible views from all levels. It was clean and well stocked with everything you could need to feel at home. Plenty of beach toys and chairs for everyone. The kitchen was a delight with all a chef could desire. The owners Tess & Andy were wonderful and highly communicative. Lots of TLC put into this home. We would highly recommend.
