This was my second time to stay at the Hotel Belgique. I was pleasantly surprised at the upgrading to this establishment. My room was adequate - clean with basic comfort and safety. However, I found only one towel/ a hand towel in my room and when I requested a bath towel I was told that only one towel is usually supplied! Fortunately, the ,maitre, relented and gave me a bath towel which I thanked him for. Madame does not engage well with foreigners.I noticed this on my previous visit some years ago and sadly nothing has changed.- if you speak little or no French then communication is -`zero`- except for sign language! the same lady failed to pass on an important telephone msg to me, from a relative which she received. after I arrived at the hotel, some thing that I did not appreciate and her action could have had serious consequences for me and my family. This hotel suited my schedule and I may stay there again if it suits me but I do think that the Madame de Hotel could make a better effort to engage more cordially with her paying guests just as she does with the non-paying passers by, namely the natives. All other staff were pleasant and helpful. Finally, Menton is a lovely place and well worth visiting - the natives are friendly/cordial! Viva La France! Claire Marie/Irland
