"The hotel was as described and a lot better than some of the rather mean reviews !! Staff were friendly, and easy going, no rush, the breakfast was as described and plentiful. This is not a 4 star hotel its budget and worked perfectly for me. It does what it says on the tin !! Its great value and so near the railway station , yet on a quiet side street. Whafs not to like ?"

"We stayed one night at Le Chevalier Bleu and really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The location is convenient for walking around Monpazier. We would definitely stay there again."

"Everyone was extremely welcoming and attentive. The Chateau looks amazing on arrival and even more so in the evening. It has a fabulous pool area and the views over the surround countryside are stunning. Our room was lovely which also had amazing views. There is parking on site and we had breakfast booked which was good. The village is a stones throw and definitely worth going to visit. "

"The rural setting was perfect - so peaceful - just what we needed. A soaring buzzard and a few tiny lizards in the garden were the only regular visitors 😂!! We loved the house and it was very well equipped, especially in the kitchen with lots of thoughtful touches. The pool is fabulous - a really good size. As it’s not heated, it maybe a tad brisk on cooler days but great as the weather heats up. There were all sorts of games available- including a table tennis table, badminton and a football - all great to keep family entertained on relaxing days by the pool. The upstairs rooms are all beautifully done and very spacious. The large lounge is great for relaxing and watching TV together after a long day out. Downstairs has a more traditional toilet and bathroom and also has a nice updated and spacious bedroom similar to the upstairs ones. Jenny is a lovely host and was very helpful and quick to respond to all my emails. The Welcome pack was very well out together and had a lots of useful info for our stay. We specifically chose the rural location for the tranquility and we were not disappointed. There is beautiful surrounding countryside with sunflower fields and vineyards. Bergerac airport, town and supermarket are all within 20-25mins which is great. Some of the places we wanted to visit (Rocamadour, Padirac caves, Sarlat) were 2-3hrs by car but well worth a visit. Overall, we had a fabulous holiday and would love to go back again as La Roche is a real gem."

"The house was idealy situated for visiting many places of interest,Bordeaux,Bergerac and many chateau in the area. We were very disapointed with the standard of the property due to several issues.The house is very cold and damp and in some rooms has effected the wooden flooring,leaving a white deposit.Even in the kitchen, which has tiled flooring,surface water could be seen under our dogs bedding.The on-suite shower room wasn't very clean and had black mould around the shower tray and sink,which we had to clean ouselves.Although we had the use of an above ground swimming pool in the garden,it quickly became unusable as the grass,which was mostly weeds,became too long and unpleasant to wade through to get to the pool. Although I expect not everything to be perfect with an older property,I do feel the owners could pay more attention to these basic details.We were there for a month so these these things had considerable impact on our stay.We felt the owners put very little into running there gite and do the bare minimum."
