Monte Mesola

I waited to post this to give the hotel a chance to make things right. They didn’t. We checked in on October 7, 2026. The next morning, we woke up to blood smears on the sheets that hadn’t been there before. We suspected bed bugs, and that was confirmed when we found an exoskeleton in the bed. We went to breakfast and discuss next steps, but were too disgusted to eat (On the topic of breakfast, the croissants were chewy and the fruit was translucent due to not being fresh...we never ate breakfast there again). We decided to head to the front desk to get the situation handled immediately. Hotel staff were physically walked to the room and shown the blood smears. They acknowledged the problem and said they'd put us in another room, which they did. We moved into the new room and asked to speak to management about refund options, but were told—twice—that no manager was available. On checkout day, suddenly the “manager” appeared… and it was the same man who had told us management wasn’t there the previous two days. He claimed he thought we just had dirty sheets from a previous guest (which is somehow also horrifying). We asked for a refund; he agreed to refund the first night but said it had to go through Expedia. Expedia contacted the hotel, and the hotel denied it. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. The location is great, but management lied repeatedly, breakfast was terrible, and THEY HAVE BED BUGS!

The location of our hotel was absolutely perfect. We felt like it was a quick walk to everything we wanted to see. The hotel was charming and felt very characteristic of what we thought staying in Venice would look like. We would highly suggest this hotel and the restaurant next-door. Loved that there was a gondola station out front and that it was steps to the Rialto Bridge. The staff was very friendly and helpful!! 5 out of 5!!!
