A place back in time!

This beautifully restored rustic property shows how much the owners Jane and Mick care about providing a quiet, restful, authentic experience for their guests. Nestled up in the mountains, you have a panoramic view of valleys and hills dotted with olive groves, small farmsteads and forests. After spending 10 days on the touristy Mediterranean coast, we loved the quiet beauty at Casa Miguel. This property made a great hub for visiting the fascinating city of Cordoba, but we also tremendously enjoyed hiking the hills surrounding the property and visiting the nearby villages of Montefrio and Alcala La Real (don't miss the castle tour). We also enjoyed just lounging around the various terraces and the pool of the property. Nights were cool, but we had a beautiful wood stove to keep the house cozy. The rustic nature of the house is part of its charm! Can't say enough about Jane and Mick. They were great hosts, never intrusive but very welcoming and ready to help.

Beautiful secluded cottage

On a hillside overlooking olive groves, this is a beautiful cottage in a quiet location with great views. Jane, the owner, was welcoming and really helpful. The photos pretty much do this place justice - it really is a delightful spot, well located for local towns like Montefrío, but also for longer trips. We had two day trips to Granada and Córdoba. Its also a great place for just relaxing. The cottage is well equipped with most facilities and kitchen utensils etc that you need. The decor is rustic and totally appropriate, so don't expect space-age gadgets, and the interior is suitably quirky (including low-hanging beams for tall people to watch out for!). The twin room is off the main double bedroom, and the other double bedroom and bathroom is separate from the main house (by about a 10 foot walk, not totally isolated), a configuration that could work well for families or groups. As well as the pool area, there are effectively three other terrace areas for seating and/or dining, on three levels. Whilst we had fine weather, it was too cool to try out the pool on our trip. I'm sure it is great in summer. We also appreciated the log burner on chilly spring nights. This is a really great place to stay, and I'd happily return if we were revisiting the area.

Un havre de paix au milieu des oliviers

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour à la Casa Miguel. L’emplacement est superbe, on se sent seul au monde au milieu des oliviers. La maison dispose de tout le nécessaire et la piscine est bien agréable pour se rafraîchir. Mention spéciale pour Jane et Mick qui sont très disponibles et aiment à partager leur région d’adoption.

Sitio fabuloso para desconectar. Su coqueta piscina es ideal para refrescarte cuando el calor aprieta. El único inconveniente son los baches del camino de acceso desde la carretera.

a blissfully quiet pretty farmhouse set in olive and almond groves

This very traditional Andalucian white farmhouse although still with many original features still had everything required to make this an enjoyable holiday. Set high enough for far reaching views and far enough off the road so that you were not aware of traffic this property was easily reached with our hire car (standard estate car) and had a wonderful pool and 'casita' style area to shelter from the sun and other hidden shady terraces. Intensely quiet with beautiful views - and although the property does not have aircon ( it has been kept a traditional farmhouse) the bedrooms were cool at night . Mick and Jane were wonderful hosts responding quickly to questions, popping round if required. Can't wait to come back

Geweldig

Een heel fijne woning, precies zoals omschreven in de advertentie. Ligt heel landelijk dus je komt geheel tot rust. Montefrio ligt ongeveer 15 min er vandaan. Heel fijne vriendelijke omgeving!

Very nice and relaxing getaway at a village in the mountains.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful village. The house had amazing views. Wonderful house and the best part for us was the pool- very nice to cool down during hot summer.

Idyllischer Aufenthalt

Ein wunderschönes Haus im andalusischen Stil mit tollem Ausblick. Alles war sehr sauber, die Fotos haben nicht zu viel versprochen! Sehr freundliche und herzliche Gastgeber. Wunderschöner Ausblick auf die Olivenfelder, genau der richtige Ort um zu relaxen und die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Gerne wieder!

Ontspannen verblijf tussen de olijfbomen

Wij verbleven in Casa Miguel met onze twee zoons van 10 en 13. Casa Miguel is heel rustig gelegen aan een afgelegen weg, omringd door olijfomen en kijkt uit over de heuvels en het dal. Het uitzicht is prachtig, het huisje en de terrassen zijn heel goed onderhouden. Jane en Mick hebben Casa Miguel prachtig opgeknapt en ingericht in authentieke stijl. Binnen is het klein, met lage plafonds maar gezellig en sfeervol. Ook bij minder weer vinden wij het een fijne plek om te verblijven. De ontvangst door Jane was super. De eigenaren zijn erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Wanneer je op zoek bent naar een fijne plek weg van de massa en weg van het toerisme dan kunnen wij Casa Miguel van harte aanbevelen.

We had such a restful week in Casa Miguel, which was just what we needed. Wonderful scenery too.

Casa Miguel is a hidden gem overlooking the valley and wide spreading olive groves. It has been lovingly restored and is an interesting place to stay. Jane was a great host, helpful without being intrusive. We enjoyed meeting the little cats and being able to see Jane and Mick’s horses on the hill. Our week was very restful, but we did get out and about; to the local town Montefrío, an easy drive, Alcala La Real too. Granada was within easy distance, (about 1.5 hrs)where we spent an interesting day and Córdoba, which although further (2hrs) was well worth a visit. All in all a great holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Casa Miguel was a delight, (we even saw eagles soaring high above the villa, which was amazing,) and we would never tire of those glorious views.

A wonderful holiday in a beautiful house. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The views and variety of seating areas outside are perfect, with a magnificent view from every spot. Bats and eagles were a hit, as were all the gorgeous animals, Mim my particular favourite. Jane and Mick are warm wonderful hosts there if you need them or just for a chat, we really enjoyed their company. Visited Granada and Cordoba both fascinating cities. Don’t miss the castle in Alcalá la Real, it’s brilliant.

Supermooie villa met schitterend uitzicht

We zijn hartelijk verwelkomd door Jane. Het is een prachtig huis met een schitterend uitzicht. Wij sliepen in een slaapkamer met uitzicht op de sterrenhemel ‘s nachts. Het was geweldig!

An hour from most sites at Granada, Cordoba etc and good pool facilities.

Extremely pleasant owners, however access from road ( at least the last 2km approx) is not ideal, as it is very basic and rural. Ceilings in main house are very low and double beds on the very small side.

Wonderful place to relax and close to so much...

We arrived on a late flight and the owners had pre-loaded the log burner as it was a cool night - what a lovely first impression. The villa was all we had dreamed of and was very comfortable, but so authentic. The eye for detail of the accommodation was first class and have never stayed in such a beautiful location. The owners left us in peace, but we're always contactable for advice on the local area and suggested some wonderful trips. MONTEFRIO was so lovely, especially at night and our trips to Alcala la real, Granada were just magical. We couldn't of asked for better hosts and we didn't want to leave. It was like our own villa! We can't wait to go back later in the year and neither can the kids. They had a great time in the pool. I would recommend it to singles and families as it has everything you need. Our freinds have also booked in for later in the year and we are hoping we can find the time to go back in the late summer, if they have availability. Thank you to Jane and Mick, great hosts The best villa we have stayed at in 13 years. No need to go anywhere else in Spain, our search is over!
