Good staff, rooms were spacious and it was walkable to the historic zone. There were an issue with the lights in the 5th floor - they were on a motion sensor and wouldn’t stay on when we were in the hall and the light above the stairs never seemed to turn on. Pooled and gym looked nice but we didn’t get a chance to use it. Good variety for breakfast

The hotel was good and the breakfasts were excellent. The staff was very helpful, kind, and overall, amazing as they went out of their way to help us see and do the things we wanted to do. The only problems with the property were that the building is old and the bathroom smelled like sewage and our room was near the stairwell and we would hear everyone going up to breakfast just before 7:00 am.

The location is great. The property is outdated. The elevators are kind of small and during breakfast time they are just simply not enough. The bathroom was very old and I think it can be in better shape. Friendly staff.

Wonderful hotel and a great value. It has a storied history as Hotel Cervantes (famous writers like Borges and Cortazar stayed there), but it is newly renovated and very modern. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance to major sights and great restaurants. If I return to Montevideo, I will stay there again.

Comfortable and quiet for short or long stays.

Short ride in taxi to concert and central to any of the shopping malls. Easy walk to the port with good table service restaurants. It is an old established hotel that has been renovated and is kept clean and cared for by very attentive employees. Purpose of trip was concert and shopping mall tour. Taxis and Ubers know it.

It is a beautiful hotel in a great location with great and kind staff. Sadly, the property needs a big face lift: fresh coats of painting and general repairs throughout the property.

Pool was Very Warm. AND VERY SMALL. Not like pics. Good breakfast. Good location. A few ‘issues’ with room, heating and tv didn’t work first night (then fixed) no replacement of coffee. Kettle didn’t work…location made up for this. Quiet.

Nice old town location with good facilities. Helpful staff, had a few really touches including kettle in the room, free cold water available and fresh coffee in the day and body lotion in the room. Also handy having the bikes free for 2 hours. Although my husband’s bike chain kept falling off. but he managed. Loved watching the sun set a few minutes walk away, over the river on the Ramblas. Only slight negatives were the mattress was not very firm and the breakfast was on the roof terrace which was lovely but only seemed to have access to this during this time. Would have been nice to have sat out late afternoon time. We used the pool and sauna, but the gym was not open until 8am. I like to workout nearer 6am and before breakfast. But got a lot of exercise walking all over the city which was what we came for after all. Would recommend as quite good value in an expensive city.

Youth hostel sold as 4 star hotel. Stay away!

I arrived one day late since my flight was cancelled. Arriving at midnight, I was put into the smallest room they had. It was half the size (10m2) as booked and payed for and as advertised by the hotel itself. Room was dirty, so is the hotel. If you get a room ending on 16 (516, 416, ...) ask for another one. It is simply a scam being put in such a room and the hotel told me, that this is a normal room (not true). I usually check rooms when the cleaning stuff let the door open while cleaning. All rooms were bigger (and as advertised). So I was just lied to. I had a discussion with the manager, which was good. His hands are bound too. But he knows about the state of this hotel. But owners obviously do not want to invest, so they press the lemon based on their 4star rating, which is clearly wrong. Owners of this hotel shoud not rin such a bad hotel. Others would do better. Hotel is, with both eyes closed, a middle range 3 star hotel, I would still rather describe it as hotel with youth hostel feelings. Breakfast: such a bad experience. Basicially no selection and nothing fresh. Scrambled eggs out of a bottle, just sweet bread or Industrialized bread, orange juice is Fanta with water. Ambiente is like a youth hostel. No selection Pool: would never swim in there Gym: of the size of my room, just filled with some broken machines. Nothing you really can use. It is such a shame such a hotel. If you like to overpay your stay with bad breakfast and youth hostel feeling-go ahead
