Nice Hostel
Nice hostel, friendly and helpful staff. Replied to my emails to arrange airport pick up and have 24 hour check in which is great. Bathrooms were clean with hot water. My room was clean and had a small balcony and there's a sink in the room. There is also a kitchen and water dispenser. Centrally located and close to the beach. Only issue was my room door had a gap which let in a lot of noise and smoke smell from other guests when they were sat out in the common area smoking and laughing.

Right in the centre of Montevideo! Opposite the Teatro Solis! This place has so much character and is a great base from which to explore the city! Cafes and restaurants are downstairs and there’s a communal kitchen which is super handy! Literally 4 mins to La Rambla which is a great way to spend an afternoon! The furniture is vintage and the ceilings are high! Those of an artistic bend will be inspired by this place! I stayed for 5 nights and when I return to Montevideo, this is where I will stay

Dirty, dark, with rude staff and a fantastic view!
This hotel could be nice and attractive, but instead is dirty and poorly lit throughout. There is a mild odor of smoke. Though she eventually did answer my questions, the staff member who checked me in was rude and quite scattered. Walls were thin and I could hear someone snoring in the adjacent room. Positive points were the central location, beautiful view of the theater, good WiFi, good security, and hot water.

Quirky Budget Hotel with Charm
A good choice if you are looking for a budget hotel with character. The staff are friendly and warm, the location is great, and there are authentic art deco and other antiques throughout the hotel, including the rooms, which are all different. The sheets and towels were clean, though definitely not luxurious, and if you are using a shared bathroom, you have it all to yourself. There’s a kitchen for guests to use and the hotel feels like a mix of a hostel and a hotel. It’s funky for sure, so if you’re looking for the predictability and consistency of the Holiday Inn, then go stay there. However if you like experiencing quirky budget hotels with character, that make you feel like you’re in an interesting movie, you’ll enjoy the Splendido.

Nice place, if a bit noisy
The staff was great... Friendly, helpful, and able to tell me where to go to find interesting things to do. The hotel is located above a bar street though, and the nights were a highlighter someone who isn't into the bar scene.

Absolutely stunning character-filled hotel in Ciudad Vieja. We had a beautiful room with a small balcony that overlooked cafes and Teatro Solis was just across the street. Our room was large, had its own bathroom, mini-fridge, tv, and (although it was listed as a full-sized bed) a king-sized bed. The staff was beyond friendly. This wouldn't be a hotel for everyone though. If you're looking for the newness of a Marriott or Hilton, you won't find it here. Personally, we thought the character of this building was much better. Very tall ceilings, doors, and window openings which are consistent with the feel of Ciudad Viaja. You could walk to everything you would need. We loved it! This is not a knock on the hotel but something to be aware of ... No elevator (we did have to climb stairs to get to our room), no parking (except at check-in & check-out), and no hairdryer in the bathroom. I didn't ask for a hairdryer at the front desk though. They may have had one there.

Amazing location and grand building
The hotel has an amazing location next to the central square of the old town of Montevideo with a great view of the Solis Theatre opposite from the balcony. The building is a very grand, old, ornate building and very interesting and unique. This is a hostel/hotel so there is a kitchen and dining area which is very useful. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and give tips and suggestions of things to see in Montevideo which is great. The only downside is that the hotel is next to a nightclub, so if your room is next to the club on a weekend as mine was, it was very loud all night, even with earplugs, so hard to get sleep. Otherwise this is a great, budget hotel in a fantastic location and would consider staying again.

Great location, awesome space, fun staff
Very cool hotel. Close to a lot of good restaurants, pretty unique space with a lot of cool art and history. Bed a bit old and squeeky, but overall enjoyed the stay a lot.

One of the better hostels I've stayed at anywhere in the past 30 years. Staff generally seems truly to care about their guest's satisfaction -- either that, or they have Academy Award-winning acting talent. Plus I'm a sucker for a room with a balcony from which you can see water. Quirky, sort of quasi-Beaux Arts construction dating from the late 19th or early 20th Century -- doors are 12 feet high, ceilings 20 feet. Close to everything you need.

Great location.
Great location in old town. First room was Hugh with fridge. Second stay had smaller room. Ask for room at back, it is quieter. Very old building, very unique, so some things are run down. Could be cleaner. Nice kitchen and dining area. Staff spoke english, were very helpful.

Simple Room, Great Location for Budget Travele
Splendido is a simple yet very sufficient, hostel with a few individual rooms. Service is respectful and the front desk hosts speak a bit of English which is helpful. Two shared bathrooms/showers are available and breakfast of toast, jam, tea and some fruit is included. The location is unbeatable, across the street from the Teatro Solid and Independence Plaza. This is a simple place for a very inexpensive price. I found my room to be more than sufficient. So long as you are alright with basic accommodations and sharing a bathrooms when needed, this quaint hostel/hotel is very inexpensive and the location cannot be beat. I would stay here again and I'd recommend it for the budget conscious traveler.

Centrally located, inexpensive hotel (no frills)
It is fine hotel for a short stay. I chose it primarily for its location, which is excellent. People should always consider the price when they review a hotel. Ok - so it is not a five star hotel, but the price is not five star either. There is a high end option across the square. This hotel meets all the basic needs of a tourist traveler. I don't think I would recommend it for families, though.

Old hotel right in the old town
Hotel is quiet old, i mean , you feel like you re back in time. Noise from the street at night and no insulation from the street noise. Only one bathroom to share with many rooms , so had to wait few times to get in. Clean enough but I think the mattress was from 40 years ago. The staff was the greatest thing about the place, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not much, a cup of coffee , one bread of pastry each and a fruit from the Bowl of fruits.

A hostel not a hotel
This is a hostel and it isn't clearly stated in the descriptions. We got a room with our own bathroom however. Rooms are dark and bathrooms are small and no mirror. Sink in shower. No heat except for an inadequate radiator. Staff is helpful and place is in good location close to main square areas.

very accommodating for early arrival
the staff found me a room despite being early which was a relief as id been travelling overnight. wifi worked ok, it did have poor connection the second night. i liked the breakfast, simple and enough.

OK, if you want more of a hostel experience
This is more of a hostel with some hotel touches. The rooms don't feel that clean and certainly have a smokey smell. Staff have good English and pre-contact you before arrival to check what time you will arrive.

Inexpensive hotel in the heart of the Old City
The Splendido has a great staff that is knowledgeable, friendly and bilingual. It is close to the bus stops and within walking distance of the river, the Mercado, the Puerto, and everything in the Old City. The only downside we had was the noise. It is above 2 bars, 2 restaurants and across the street from another late night restaurant/bar. It is also on one of the main bus routes. This also could be a plus if you are a late night reveler and want easy access to transportation. I recommend the Splendido and since we are planning a trip back will stay there again.

Unique hotel in a great area with a superb staff!
I usually stay places a step up from this one, so I was kind of skeptical about what it would be like. It's located in a cool area of the historic Montevideo in an historic building. It's over a hundred years old with high ceilings and deco furniture. It was pretty clean and stayed that way. The staff is incredible. INCREDIBLE. And the guests who stayed there were really cool, too. Interesting people traveling around: educated, professional, students, hipsters etc from everywhere. I had an amazing experience there and highly recommend it. It was an excellent value for the price.

A little rundown but good otherwise
The furnishings are from a different era. But other than that everything else about the hotel is great. The location is close to everything downtown. The breakfast is wonderful! (provided by a local cafe downstairs - really top notch) The price is affordable. There's also a kitchen/dining room available for use. Its halfway hostel and halfway hotel. Worth a stay if you're looking to save some money.

Localização excelente, quartos com vista para o teatro Solís, próximo a diversas atrações, bares, cafés, restaurantes, museus. Se estiver de carro, pode ser difícil estacionar na rua, e é preciso pagar a tarifa. O local é acessível por escadarias, então considere isso também na sua escolha. O quarto com banheiro privativo era excelente, varanda com vista da rua, cama muito confortável, roupa de cama limpa e cheirosa. Há um espaço comum no hotel para fazer as refeições. O único ponto que pode incomodar é o barulho, mas de resto a experiência foi maravilhosa, vou voltar com certeza!

Hotel simples mas com estilo, situado em um edifício antigo muito bem localizado na cidade velha. Perto de muitas atrações turísticas, bares, pubs e restaurantes. Equipe muito solícita e agradável. Sem luxos, mas bem confortável; tem uma cozinha de uso coletivo. Wi-Fi ok.

６日間泊まりましたが、終わりの２日間しかベッドメーキングと部屋の掃除がしてもらえませんでした。シャワーと洗面所の水圧と水量が小さいのが残念です。部屋に冷蔵庫があるのとキッチンでお湯が使えたのは助かりました。

Localização ótima, próximo de tudo na cidade velha. Frente ao teatro e na mesma rua que pubs. Hotel antigo e sem luxos. Equipe atenciosa e simpática. Sem café da manhã com cozinha disponível. Para ficar poucos dias cumpriu bem.

Recomendo!
O hotel é muito antigo por tanto o conforto fica limitado ao rústico. O quarto em que ficamos condiz com a idade do hotel, digo em aparência, a cama é bem confortável e o chuveiro é quente e agradável. Localizado em uma rua "badalada" de quinta a domingo segundo informações na recepção, informações que acreditamos, pois, em uma terça feira era uma das poucas ruas da cidade velha que haviam bares abertos. Tem um clima de casa de filme de terror, a decoração é bem interessante, os quadros são "macabros/engraçados". Uma observação me parece que a caixa de esgoto fica bem na entrada, no início das escadas do hotel, senti um cheiro de banheiro com desinfetante, mas não é nada insuportável e aceitável considerando que a construção é de 1901. Ressalto o bom cheiro e a limpeza das roupas de cama, toalhas e sabonetes, tudo muito cheiroso mais até que em outros hotéis de várias estrelas. Em suma vale a pena a estadia, os trabalhadores são gentis, educados, pacientes e a localização é excelente.

セントロに近いホテル
スタッフがフレンドリーで親切である。 古い施設なのと、掃除が行き届いてないので、清潔感がない。天井が高いのは好感が持てるが部屋に蚊がいて6カ所刺された。眠れなかった！

Charmant und stilvoll
Das Hotel Splendido ist ein im besten Sinne eleganter Ort, es ist stilvoll und bescheiden, mit einer Gemeinschftsküche, die auch genutzt wird. Das Splendido ist eine echTe Hommage an eine Zeit, die noch nicht von NH und Ibis Hotels verschandelt wurden. Ein wunderbarer Ort für Indiviadualgästen, egal ob Gruppen, Familien und Einelreisende- la classe und sehr liebenswert

Boa localização
Ficamos no hotel por uma noite antes de ir pra Colonia del Sacramento. Não pegamos café da manhã. Hotel antigo mas satisfatório, camas confortáveis. O ponto negativo ficou pelo chuveiro, que não esquenta direito. O ponto positivo ficou pela locaização, numa rua com movimento de bares de rock bem badalado na área central da cidade, mas que não pertuba o silêncio de quem quer dormir.
