Jon - we are very sorry about your unfortunate events of your stay. When the weather gets cold, the bugs start to creap in as it's an old building. They are not bed bugs but rather boxelder bugs that are harmless. We are currently renovating to fix this problem.

Hotel is a converted mill and granary, turned into a wonderful, quaint, nicely done B&B. Very comfortable beds and pillows, on site restaurant and bar. Bathrooms outdated but comfortable. I recommend it and would stay here again.

Efficient key pick up. No interaction with anyone at the location. Coffee machine could be updated. Bathroom had some bugs coming from drains possibly?

I did not see one staff member in two days. The coffee pot in the dining room would not work because it needed “descaling.“ The front door was never locked which felt unsafe. There was even a notice on the front door not to lock it. And the furniture in the room I was in was so uncomfortable and broken down that it belongs in a garbage dump. The bed was OK. The water in the shower changed temperature from hot to cold to hot on its own. And there were notices around about not taking more than two packages of junk food from the refrigerator. At almost $250 a night, this is really not appropriate. I don’t understand why anybody would stay here.

Cleanliness needed a ton of help. Carpets very old and looked like not cleaned in months, had an easily noticable black wear pattern in lobby and throughout ground floor. Carpeting on stairs dangerous; many rips with some being repaired with noticable thread. Balastar on stairs coming off the wall, not sufficient support. Trash can in eating area full when we arrived, fuller yet after staying 2 nights. Bed in our room under an eve on one side forcing bending over to occupy bed. Multiple light fixtures either without bulbs or no bulbs. (For example the overhead fan/light had 4 slots for bulbs with only one working.) Could say more but I think you can get our perspective.

We stayed in the Palmer room on the third floor and were surprised that there was no fire escape. Unless you jump off the roof from 2 stories (possibly 1 if you could crawl over to another level of the roof), the only exit is down the interior stairs. Communication could be greatly improved. Over our 5 days, we saw incoming guests wandering around confused, wondering about check-in and when the bar/restaurant opened. The restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday during our stay but there was no sign or message to inform folks ahead of time. The room had no towels on arrival but they were quick to respond to a request the next day. On the plus side, we liked the "old mill" atmosphere and the Granary's chicken fried steak.

Fun Overnight Stay
Unique place to stay overnight on our travels through the area. We were there on a Friday night and thought we would eat there that night. Unfortunately the restaurant and bar were slammed with people and the service and meals for us suffered for it.

Welcoming place to stay in Monticello UT
It’s quaint, historic and welcoming. The furniture is not the most comfortable for our aged bodies but water is hot, there’s an easy checkin system and the scaled-back breakfast offerings ( self serve) appeal to many guests, I’m sure. We brought our own cooked food and heated it in the microwave. The attached restaurant was happy to serve us and Charles, our waiter, took good care of us. We have stayed here numerous times over the years and love it.

Super easy online check in. The Grist Mill is a nice inn to come to. The rooms are really nice and comfy. Right next store is the Granary restaurant.

This trip was part business and pleasure. I love the decor and setting of this old mill. The room was welcoming and there were a few small gifts, beautifully displayed on the bed. The Corbin Room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed a drink and eating at the restaurant downstairs. It was Saturday night and they had a wonderful band playing. We walked over to the park and enjoying the quiet neighborhood afterwards. I would absolutely stay here again.

Each rroom is individually decorated and has different options. Bed is comfortable. The room I reserved was large with a queen bed. A loveseat and seperate bathroom. There was even a fan in the closet. Be aware there is no elevator and there are no floor level rooms. Definitely would stay again.

It is a cute property but way past its prime. The worst part was lack of staff. We didn't see one staff person while we were there, even to check us in. In the morning the coffee maker in the common area didn't work and no employees were around. They stopped serving breakfast because of a lack of staff. The people running the attached restaurant were incompetent. The (12-year-old!) server got the orders wrong, and the grownups got the bill all wrong. Not a good experience!

Unfortunately there was a private party that closed the restaurant next door so couldn't use it and there was no water jug in the morning for filling the Keurig, but in normal times I could see that this will fill all your needs for an overnight stay. A little quaint, cosy place with interesting rooms, very clean with a large bathroom. I would go back.

We never saw a real human being at reception or any place else, and there were not enough towels for the four people we dutifully listed on our reservation. Over a three day stay, no one could ever get us more toilet paper or towels. Plus, the carpet smells bad in the entire place.

We loved it really and our room was wonderful although not particularly clean. We received no breakfast and the railings on the stairwell were coming undone. The carpet throughout was old and dirty and our bottom sheet was torn.

Thank you for staying with us. Due to a staff shortage we are not able to serve breakfast, there’s signs posted in the lobby, we apologize. Due to our uniqueness the building is older and we are trying to upgrade the building.

This is NOT a bed & breakfast! There is no one there after 5:00 pm to help with ANYTHING. Smallest rooms we have ever been in.

No facial tissue in room, have to go down 3 flights of stairs to use coffee machine coffee in room but no machine. Had to go to restaurant to get ice 3 more flights of staire. Hot water in shower fluctuates terribly bad hot, cold never could get it adjusted! Ate at the restaurant service was terrible. Tried to set out side but after 15 minutes with no own coming by went inside where they had a person playing music HE WAS THE BEST PART OF THE STAY! Service inside not very good, very long wait to get a glass of wine. Food not very good could only eat half of my hamburger. Needless to say we won’t be back! That’s a shame because we stay in Monticello at least 3 times a year!
