About this property
Railroad Retreat in Moose Pass – Car 0037
About this space Sleep Inside Alaska Railroad History
It’s rare to find a place that’s both historic and truly one-of-a-kind. Car 0037 was originally built to carry soldiers and later put to work on the Alaska Railroad. Today, this remarkable railcar has been carefully preserved in Moose Pass, offering a chance to spend the night inside a genuine piece of Alaska’s past. Surrounded by mountains and wilderness, this is far more than a place to stay—it’s an experience you’ll remember.
The space Car 0037 is a one-of-a-kind historic railcar, thoughtfully renovated into a private getaway for two. The approximately 468-square-foot space includes a comfortable queen bed, a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living areas, a full bathroom with a spacious double shower, and an in-unit washer and dryer.
The renovation blends modern comfort with the distinctive character of the original railcar. Its narrow, 52-foot footprint creates a space unlike a traditional cabin or hotel room—one where you can relax, cook, shower, and sleep inside a genuine piece of railroad history.
Guest access Guests have private access to the entire Car 0037 railcar and its amenities, including the queen sleeping area, full kitchen, living and dining space, bathroom with double shower, and in-unit washer and dryer.
The railcar is your private space for the duration of your stay. Please enjoy the surrounding property respectfully and be mindful of the nearby railroad tracks.
Other things to note Car 0037 is a historic 1945 railroad car that has been thoughtfully renovated with modern comforts. While the space has been updated, its narrow footprint and a few vintage quirks are part of what make staying here so unique.
The Alaska Railroad tracks are nearby, and trains may occasionally pass through Moose Pass. We think it adds to the experience, but guests should be aware that you may hear train activity during your stay.
Please respect our quiet neighborhood and treat this historic piece of Alaska Railroad history with care.
