The Washburn Inn - On the Lake

"The location was great - right on the lake, but also close to the other businesses on the Main Street. It's a very basic hotel, but it was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and they did have freshly-brewed coffee in the lobby, made from beans ground daily. They also had in-room coffee, but it was worth the trip to the lobby. We had a partial lake view from the 2nd floor, so that was an added bonus."

"Beautiful location within easy 5-10 minute walking distance to downtown Bayfield shops, restaurants, and the ferry to Madeline Island. We were there for peak fall leaves color. The view of the lake, the island, the small marina, the trees, and the sunrise from the cozy furniture on the deck outside our door was amazing. It is a motel, so there is the potential for noise from the vehicles that park outside the rooms, but it was a non-issue. Our stay was peaceful, pleasant, and perfect."

"Suited my purpose (quiet place to focus on writing) well. Could work at the kitchen table or outside on the deck (if it had been a little warmer). Brownstone trailhead was close by and an excellent walk. My only complaint was lack of a really comfortable place to sit and read or watch TV."
