* Your Private Nature Sanctuary Welcome to a place where you can truly slow down, breathe, and unwind. The moment you arrive, you will understand why this historic cabin is my absolute favorite escape. It perfectly blends the authentic, rustic charm of a country retreat, featuring original hand-carved logs from 1840, with all the modern necessities you need for a comfortable stay—all while being just 5 miles (about 7 minutes) away from town.
* Porch Sitting & Wildlife Watching • The Front Porch: Sip your morning coffee on the cozy, covered front porch. On rainy days, there is nothing quite like the soothing sound of rain falling on the classic metal roof. • The Back Deck: Relax on the back deck overlooking a private yard framed by tree cover. • Local Wildlife: Keep an eye on the sky for the resident Bald Eagle that lives around the area! In the early hours of dawn and late into sunset, you will frequently see gentle deer grazing in the yard (or sometimes the front!).
* Natural Spring-Fed Creeks The backyard is bordered by three unique creeks fed by natural springs, which all flow into a main stream at the back of the property. Take a peaceful stroll across the wooden footbridges to explore the yard. Please note: due to seasonal weather and regional droughts, water levels fluctuate naturally, but the peaceful wooded setting remains unmatched.
* Vintage Entertainment & Family Fun Rainy day or just staying in? I have fully stocked the cabin with nostalgic indoor entertainment for all ages: • For the Adults: Spin your favorite tracks on the vintage vinyl record player (featuring radio, CD, and Bluetooth capabilities) or browse the large DVD and Blu-ray collection for a classic movie night. • For the Kids: A variety of fun toys, classic board games, card games, and jigsaw puzzles are ready to keep the little ones fully entertained. • Video Games: Fire up the classic video games for some retro gaming fun that the whole group will love, including an Atari Gold (120 games), a 50-in-1 console, a Pac-Man joystick game, and a Nintendo DS with a 64-game cartridge.
* Modern Comforts in a Historic Setting While I encourage you to step away from the screens and soak in the "symphony of nature," you won't be entirely cut off. Enjoy the best of both worlds with fast Wi-Fi for your devices, a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor grill, and hassle-free lockbox self-check-in.
* Local Context & Proximity Only a 5-mile drive off the interstate and nestled between Staunton and Harrisonburg: • Only 7 miles to Historic Downtown Staunton • Only 15 miles to Harrisonburg (home of JMU) • Massanutten Resort is just a scenic 25-minute drive (10 miles past Harrisonburg).
* A Guided Tour of the Space (3 Levels of Comfort) Please note: This historic cabin features three distinct living levels. To preserve its layout, there are no bedrooms or bathrooms on the main entry level, and the home is not handicap accessible.
* Main Level: Kitchen, Dining, & Living Room • Fully Stocked Kitchen: Features a massive island with 4 stools, plus a corner breakfast table with 2 chairs. Comes fully equipped with a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, stove/oven, toaster, waffle iron, and a Keurig machine stocked with K-pods, creamers, and sugars. • Outdoor Grilling: Step out to the covered side deck to fire up the propane BBQ grill (cooking utensils are hanging on the side panel). • Cozy Space Living Room: Features a small couch, two cushy seating spots, two comfy fold-out butterfly chairs, a remote-controlled propane fireplace (turned off in summer), and a full dining table with 4 chairs plus a long bench. TV features antenna broadcast channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, ION, TrueCrime, Outlaw, the365).
* Upper Level: Sleeping Spaces & Full Bath • Main Bedroom: Features a comfortable Queen-size bed and a Serta Sleeper pull-down couch (twin size). The sleeper couch sits on easy-to-move furniture glides so you can easily adjust it to lay flat while allowing the bedroom door to close fully. • Two Historic "Mini" Bedrooms: Unique, charming polygon-shaped rooms. One features a Twin-over-Twin bunk bed. The other features a comfortable full-length cot (perfect for guests up to 5.5 feet tall). Both rooms include luggage racks for your bags. • Upstairs Nook: Features a comfortable overhead reading light and a Serta Sleeper couch that effortlessly drops flat into a twin bed. • Full Bathroom: Includes a sink, toilet, hair dryer, and a shower/bathtub combo with a heated overhead fan.
*Your beds will be freshly made with clean sheets, and a fresh towel set waiting on each bed ready for your arrival.
*During summer months, window AC units are installed in all 3 upstairs bedrooms for cool comfort.
* Walkout Basement: Workout Room/Bedroom Sleeping Space, Laundry, & Yard Access • Combo Bedroom & Yoga/Exercise Room: Features a Serta Sleeper couch that pulls down into a twin bed, a mini-fridge for cold drinks, a full-length mirror, an ionic salt lamp, and an essential oil diffuser with an array of oils. Fully stocked with workout gear, including a mini portable DVD player with fitness videos, hand weights (1–20 lbs), a yoga block, yoga mats, and exercise bands. • Full Bathroom: Includes a sink, toilet, walk-in shower, hair dryer • Laundry Room: Features a full-size washer and dryer, iron, ironing board, and full supplies for doing laundry: detergent, bleach, oxyclean, spot remover, dryer sheets. • Easy Yard Access: Step straight out the basement door into the backyard. Grab the provided outdoor blankets and lawn chairs to gather around the fire pit, or take a short 0.3-mile (500-yard) stroll down Bald Rock Road where you'll find a local favorite—an easy, unofficial access point on the Middle River for fishing, swimming, and nature viewing.
* Parking & Accessibility • Ample Parking: The long pull-through, off-street driveway easily fits at least 5 vehicles. • Large Vehicles: Moving trucks or vehicles towing trailers can be a snug but manageable fit using the farther end of the driveway. For larger vehicles, I recommend backing in at this end. Clear, step-by-step directions are provided in the physical guest manual for exiting from that direction without ever having to make a U-turn!
• Safety & Security: A security camera is installed on-site, strictly viewing the driveway area for your safety.

Super clean, fully stocked, beautiful setting, loved hearing the babbling brook while sitting on the deck last night staring at the moon. A great escape from the city, I only wish we could have stayed longer!
This place truly is magical cabin in the woods. Everything is in great shape and you can tell the host truly cares about the property. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway you can't go wrong with saying here!
The cabin was great! Nice. Homey. Plenty of space with beds for all. I love the cabin atmosphere and the outside is the best place. Host was courteous and prompt. 10/10 would definitely stay again.
This cabin was cute, quaint, and cozy for our weekend stay. The hot cocoa surprise was a perfect touch for the extremely cold weekend and the toys available for our fur babies helped keep them entertained during our stay.
This is a beautiful cabin in the woods. It is very pet and family friendly. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a country getaway. And the host was incredibly responsive and made everything very easy.
This cabin had all the essentials, great informative labeling and instructions, and was very clean and pretty! We loved the expansive yard, too. It was the perfect combination of a private getaway but still near the town.
This was such a cozy, fun place to stay! Very pet friendly. We felt so welcomed. The host is very responsive and so nice. Check-in was super easy. The property is gorgeous and if you want a getaway, that is quiet, but still not too far away from fun, restaurants, Shenandoah national park, etc this is the place for you!
Such a great cabin and beautiful property. Check-in/out was super simple and the host was great. Instructions were very nicely laid out and we definitely want to come back!
This was our second stay at this cabin and we love it! The cabin and grounds are beautiful. Well stocked and lots of extra touches made our stay so enjoyable! We loved having a fire out back, which is so secluded. Thanks Rebecca!

This was our second time staying at this neat cabin in the woods. It's going to be our regular overnight stay on our way to the beach. It has all the comforts of home and for a family of our size, cheaper than a hotel - and infinatly more relaxing!
The cabin was very clean and well setup for our family with kids. Feel was very cozy and a rustic vibe. Kids liked exploring the creeks in the backyard and playing the video games.
