Welcome to Little Lake Effect

We’re so excited to share this special slice of heaven with you. Built from the ground up in 2022, Little Lake Effect is a true labor of love, thoughtfully designed to offer the authentic “cabin in the woods” experience—without sacrificing comfort.

Nestled in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest and just minutes from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, our cabin places you at the center of everything the Upper Peninsula has to offer. Whether you prefer slow mornings and peaceful days at the cabin or filling your schedule with adventure, your stay here is sure to be unforgettable.

Paddle across the private lake using one of our two provided kayaks, sip your morning coffee on the porch while taking in the serene views, or unwind by a crackling bonfire beneath one of the biggest, star-filled skies the U.P. has to offer. Step right out the front door to access hundreds of UTV, ATV, and snowmobile trails, enjoy vibrant fall color tours without ever leaving the property, or set off on day trips to Munising, Marquette, Grand Marais, and beyond.

While Little Lake Effect offers the peaceful seclusion of a true woodland retreat, you’ll enjoy all the comforts of home. The cabin features a fully stocked kitchen with standard appliances, washer and dryer, full bathroom, luxuriously comfortable bed linens and towels, WiFi, a smart TV, and everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

This is a great little get away spot! It’s close enough to what you need, but also far enough from people. We brought our dogs and they had the time of their lives. Super clean and cute. Great communication from owners. We would love to stay again!

Perfect home base

Perfect home base and escape from the city. We came in shoulder or off season (November) and it was very peaceful. Perfect spot for trailheads in Pictured Rocks.

Honeymoon Trip☺️

We had a wonderful time staying at this cabin. It was very clean and owners thought of everything you might need. The views surrounding the cabin are breath taking. There is a lot of excursion surrounding the area. Overall it was an amazing experience and the cabin was everything and more!

Beautiful Weekend Getaway

This cabin was amazing. Everything we wanted and more. The outdoor access to the lake is amazing and so much fun to kayak on! The directions provided helped us with getting to the cabin easily. Can’t wait to stay here again on our next trip to Munising!

Beautiful property right on a small lake. Easy check in/check out, amenities as described. Cute upper loft and nice fire pit. The internet wasn’t strong/consistent enough to work remotely, but it was fine for our needs. Very nice for a private option near Munising!

Peaceful Getaway

The owners of this property thought of everything! The cabin had all amenities and was thoughtfully appointed. The quiet setting and peaceful lake made for a relaxing getaway. We cannot recommend this property highly enough! It's 30-minutes from Munising and the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Plenty of natural beauty all around - we took a cruise of Pictured Rocks, and enjoyed hiking, Lake Superior, and waterfall viewings.

Relaxing and Comfortable

The cabin was beautiful and had great amenities. The bedding was very cozy and the lake access can't be beat, so peaceful! Loved the fire pit and good size front porch. It's located close to 3 other cabins through the same owners. There was a fan in each room along with the ceiling fan to help stay cool. Had to provide own firewood. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Tiny cabin getaway

My sister and I came to the UP to explore the outdoors. The cabin was immaculately clean. The host was responsive to our questions. Luckily, the March weather made it easy for us to see many of the beautiful spots in the area. Sitting on the porch at night watching the snow fall was a relaxing and perfect for our get away.

Big love for the tiny cabin!

We had the best time at this tiny cabin! The listing looked exactly like the photos (looked so clean and brand new) and was the peaceful, quiet getaway as described. It was a 25-30 min drive to Munising if you’re looking to explore the nearby kayaking/waterfalls at Pictured rocks. The kayaks on the property are brand new and make for a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Jason and Hillary are great, helpful, responsive hosts and were reachable when we called with a question. Would recommend this as a great place to stay!

Just enough

Just enough! Perfect place and location to get away to visit Picutured Rocks or just rock on the front porch with a peaceful lake front view . Just enough on site to feel modern conveniences with just enough space for a cozy romantic or small gathering to get away while being nestled in the national forest. Super clean!!!!! Only thing we wished that we had we forgot was a hair dryer, fishing pole, and some cards or board game. Cutw clean good vibes

2 friends “get away adventure”

Left our husbands home for a gals Hiking/kayaking adventure. (Pictured Rock Kayaking/hiking trails). The tiny home had everything we needed…absolutely charming! Early morning Kayaking on the little lake with swans, flowering lily pads and a gentle breeze. Very deep in the woods on a long gravel road. About half an hour to the coast for shopping/restaurants, so consider that when planning meals. We just brought food…it worked great! The second bedroom is a loft with ladder access. The decor is very tastefully done! Enjoyed the campfire and playing games which we brought along.
