Cozy Cute Historic Sea Spray Cottage #1

If you are looking for a unique vacation opportunity where you do not have to invite 25 of your closest friends and family members, Sea Spray Cottages OBX is the place for you. The location is ideal, Mile Post 11.7, just south of Nags Head Pier and just north of Snowbird's Soft Serve Ice Cream; you will be centrally located to many attractions.

Sea Spray Cottages were built in 1950. There are 5 cottages in total, each cottage is similar to the others, but unique in its own way.

My wife and I have been operating the SEA SPRAY COTTAGES OBX for vacations rentals since 2009. We run a mom & pop operation, an experience from a day gone-by but thoroughly enjoyed by our guests.

Sea Spray Cottages OBX provide guests with a feel of what vacationing was like on the Outer Banks during a less complicated era. The cottages are equipped with modern conveniences that will make your visit relaxing and enjoyable. Linens and towels are NOT provided, but our assistant manager, Billy, can suite you up for a fee. Just ask for his contact information. Check in is at 4 and check out is at 10:00.

Cottage #1 has 3-bedrooms, which sleeps 6. It has an open floor plan that lends itself to relaxed and enjoyable stay. This cottage has a welcoming front porch and a back porch for out-door dining.

Dogs are welcome, we try to keep it to 2 (the cottage is primarily for folks, it's not a kennel). $125 for the first two and $100 each after that.

Unique to the Outer Banks this cottage is available for nightly stays even during the summer. In the summer we do have a 3-night minimum.

If your desired dates of travel are not available in this cottage, we have others. There are 5 cottages in total at Sea Spray Cottages OBX, all similar in vintage, but unique from one another. If you are a regular on the Outer Banks, they are the gray cottages with the pink doors on the beach road in Nags Head.

Fantastic Beach Cottage

Traditional Nags Head beach house with lots of space for gathering. Nearby family came for the day, and we all enjoyed sitting on the front porch. Very short walk to the beach. We would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely wonderful little cottage

Lovely cottage

Cottage has an open layout which makes it feel bigger. Fenced in yard and the big front porch were perfect for our dogs. Cottage is in a great location, across from beach entrance. First time in Nags Head and loved it! Would rent here again!

Nostalgic: A beach property like they used to be before HDTV, before mega-cottages, self-contained resorts in which each guest has their own suite of rooms. Fully-updated. Well and completely stocked. Chefs will want to pack their own knives.

Family beach week

Great cottage steps from the beach. Location was perfect! Size was perfect for our family of 4. More than enough space inside cottage and great front porch and back porch with dining table. Very clean and had everything you would need in the kitchen. Some things could have made the stay easier/better: not providing linens means a lot of extra things to pack; beds not the most comfortable; no curtains so bedrooms get very bright very early (not great for the littles).

Little Cottage w/ Lots of Charm!

I’d definitely stay here again! Location was perfect and cottage was traditional OBX vintage, which I love 💕 Ship lap ceilings, wide plank pine floors with lots of character and the best part was the gated front porch and beautifully maintained yard that was perfect for my two Frenchies that were welcome as well! I only stayed 2 days waiting to get into my Saturday rental but I’ll definitely consider a longer stay next time!

Wonderful as usual!

We stay at Sea Spray cottages every time we head to the Outer Banks (at least once a year) and we only have good things to say! The cottages have easy access to the beach and are close to so many places we like to visit, yet still feel secluded from the hustle of the bigger roads. A major bonus is that we can bring our two dogs and all enjoy a family vacation together. We’ll never stay anywhere else in Nag’s Head!

Sibling Trip

My siblings and I spent a weekend at this cottage for our annual trip. It was extremely clean and we had no issues upon check-in; the entire process was seamless and easy. This was my first Vrbo rental, and I was well pleased and would recommend this cute nostalgic cottage for other visitors to Nags Head. It would work especially well for small families since there is only one bathroom. Also, FYI, the washer and dryer are in a detached garage on the property, but that posed no issues for our short trip. Again, other than being a true beach cottage, this place was incredibly clean, and that detail alone is paramount in my book. Highly recommend.

Partial-week stay, kid- AND dog-friendly!

The Sea Spray Cottage #1 was everything we needed for our trip. It was kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and close to everything AND we had the option for a partial-week rental (which can be a difficult list of pre-requisites!). The kitchen was well-equipped, the new outdoor shower was a bonus, the fenced-in area for the pup was perfect, and the porches were an added living space for all of us. I also appreciated being able to do laundry with no charge. This house is perfect for any family with a similar wish-list for a rental. The owner, was awesome to work with... accommodating, flexible, and quick to respond to all inquiries. This was really an easy rental, and I was so thankful not to have to wait in the long lines typical of beach rentals on "change-out day." My only recommendation would be on cleanliness, but I guess this may come with the need of having a pet-friendly place. While the places you really want to be clean WERE clean (bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom), I couldn't help but notice other dogs' hair and dust in the annoying-to-clean places like under the coffee table, on the bookshelf, and on the legs of the chairs. All of that said, I would definitely return to the Sea Spray Cottages for all of the good things mentioned about our stay!
