With new safety guidelines to adhere to, travel looks a little different right now. Here's what you should know before you pack your bags for Nanyo:

• Before you lock in a flight, check if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Stay informed with the latest updates by checking government and airport websites.
• When you pass through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Travellers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the terminal.
• Instead of handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, place it straight on the scanner yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now allowed in your carry-on baggage. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to take it out of your bag for X-ray screening.
• Remove personal items from your pockets, such as your wallet, coins and keys, and place them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• If you want to take food on board, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
