Excellent place to stay near downtown Napa! Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, waffle with fresh fruit, egg bite and sausage.
Incredibly cute and cozy place in Napa. It was in a great location and the property itself was very clean and inviting. Staff were so friendly and helpful. I could not have loved my stay more. Wish I could have stayed additional nights.
Highly recommend this place for anyone staying in Napa.
Definitely one of our better stays in Napa. The place is a charming Victorian-style house. Very clean. The staff's personal touch, especially Dolly, made it even better. Very close to downtown Napa- about a 7 to 10 minute walk on night-safe streets. The Napa Vine Trail is easily accessible via a short walk or bicycle ride.
Runie was an amazing host! He took good care of us when we arrived early before our room was ready and we had to leave to a wine tasting.
Dotty was a gracious host, very cheerful and welcoming on our last morning breakfast.
The breakfasts they cook and serve is very homey.
Dolly (staff) was very nice and helpful.
Everything about the property was just perfect. When I arrived on Sunday, I asked Dolly what time is wine hour. She told me no wine hour on Sunday. However a bit later, she served wine for us. That was so nice of her!!
I am already looking forward to my next stay! The place was immaculate and the breakfast the following morning was delicious. I have nothing negative to say whatsoever. Loved it!
As long as you know that you’re walking into a unique and beautiful Victorian B&B, you’ll have nothing to complain about. Dolly welcomed us in and made us feel right at home with the wine social hour on Friday evening and delicious sit down breakfast the following morning. The bathrooms are small (we had two rooms with their own bathrooms) with very little shelf space, but that’s to be expected. Our stay was truly a Victorian escape from the usual modern day hotels scattered around Napa. Definitely a must-experience kind of B&B. Downtown Napa is about 10 min walk if you have good walking abilities.
The place is a true gem,the attention to detail is wonderful! I loved the little glasses in the bathroom to rinse after brushing one's teeth, the makeup remover wipes, nice toiletries, the bed very comfortable; I noticed also that there was a soft pillow and another more firm pillow to accommodate different preferences i guess, the room was immaculate. As for the staff,I didn't encounter anyone,I just had contact with someone over text, and I didn't try the food either. Now the cons: No outlet or charging station next to the bed to change phone! And lastly, when I made the reservation,I requested a room with a deep tub and I ended up with a small stand alone bathtub, that was disappointing. BUT OVERALL A GREAT PLACE.
We wanted a night away, last second and found The Charles. We stayed in room 100,little private cottage and it was exactly what we wanted. Well decorated, clean, quiet, private, centrally located.....Breakfast was delicious and the host was wonderful! Only suggestion I have is get a maintenance guy in there to tighten the faucets. We would definitely come back next time we're in town.
This B&B is in a lovely old house, the kind of place I'm always looking for. The self check-in was a bit odd, since part of the charm of a B&B (to me anyway) is a warm greeting from the host. In the same way the breakfast service on our first morning, a Thursday, was kind of impersonal. There was no host in sight but several tables set for guests. We were rather at a loss for what to do until other guests said we should go ahead and sit down and our meal would be served. The food came out after a short wait and was served without a word. The breakfast itself was pretty good, although there was no choice in what was offered. The following morning was much more what we would have expected, with a friendly hostess to welcome us. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quaintly decorated. The bathroom was immaculate, but the shower stall was built in under the eaves with a sloping ceiling so low that a tall person would probably feel awkward. (Our room was "Chocolat.") I was rather surprised that there was no housekeeping to make up the bed, empty trash, or check the bathroom for towels, etc. Many hotels don't provide such service any more, but I still expect a minimum of this kind of attention at a B&B. One review mentioned a wine happy hour, but that didn't happen on our stay, or maybe no one told us about it?? The location is good and free off-street parking is a plus. On the whole it was a nice place to stay, but we probably would try some other place next time we're in Napa.
We had a fantastic stay at The Charles Napa. The grounds are beautiful, walking distance to downtown, and Dolly is absolutely wonderful. Would definitely stay again!
almost everything about the property was unique. the furnishings were antique and gloriously well chosen. We couldn't figure out how turn off the airconditioning, there was no way to make a cup of tea in the room, and breakfast was carb heavy which was not to our taste.
The staff prepare and serve breakfast. Quiet hours 10 pm to 8 am. In room spa, if your room has one, seem to turn on to self dry after a period of time, but are easily turned off again.
