We stayed in the Juniper Room at the Comal Inn over Easter weekend (Mar. 29- Apr. 2, 2018) while visiting our son who lives in the area. Upon arrival, Brent greeted us and stopped what he was doing to show us to our room. The room has everything you need for a relaxing, stress-free stay...small touches were big hits with us. A plate of pastries (from a local historic bakery), fresh fruit cups, yogurt, juice, water, & coffee were provided as a wonderful alternative to having to go out to eat. We spent our first morning on the private patio eating our breakfast. Some plates, cups, napkins, and cutlery as well as wine glasses and openers, were also very handy. In addition, a very helpful guide to restaurants and attractions was in the room...we ate at several of the places recommended and were not disappointed. The bed was very comfy...lots of room for the 2 of us to hang out...and we basically had the backyard to ourselves. (Beautiful plants and lots of birds to watch while enjoying coffee or a glass of wine.) Location of the Inn is stellar as we were walking distance to the historic downtown area as well as several little shops and restaurants scattered throughout neighborhood. The river is also a short walk away. Other attractions were just a short drive from the property...we enjoyed visiting nearby Landa Park and several antique shops. Schitterbahn is also very nearby but not a distraction or interference to the serenity of the Inn. Brent & Julie have done an excellent job of considering what their visitors might need during their stay and while we did see them a couple of times and enjoyed some friendly conversation, they also respected our privacy and desire to just relax and decompress. It was a perfect mix of hospitality. We will absolutely return and can't wait until the next opportunity to do so.
