Stayed here for a short weekend and we enjoyed everything about it. The views of the lake were great! The interior was really clean and had everything for a fun weekend! I will definitely be staying here again.
We enjoyed an amazing week at this private cottage on Stony Lake. Only about 15 minutes from the sand dunes, and a fun relaxing tube ride from Stony Lake creek to Lake Michigan.
Cottage was clean, with all amenities needed for a vacation week with family.
We were very pleased with this rental 👍
Stoney Lake is a beautiful destination for a lakeside getaway. This lake house was well stocked and had just about everything we wanted. There are lots of fun games and activities for rainy days. Tom was very responsive to any questions that we had. The only downfall that I could see was that somehow mosquitoes and many many spiders were making their way inside. We did notice some screens had holes and this is possibly the cause. Despite this, we had a blast and I would highly recommend.
The property was beautiful right on the lake and in close to proximity to so many places. We were able to host 5 adults and 2 kids comfortably. Everyone we crossed paths with were extremely friendly.
We loved the family-friendly waterfront that suited all our needs, from teenagers to 80 grandparents. The sunset views were wonderful. We also enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed, light and airy kitchen/dining room. The S’mores supplies were a very nice touch. We had another wonderful Stony Lake stay and enjoyed visiting many of our favorite spots again—Stony Lake Inn, Cherry Point, Pentwater, Stony Lake Stables, Woodland Market, and, of course, the Big Lake beach and Stony Lake channel.
We had a wonderful time at Stony Lake! The cottage was a great fit for our family. We really enjoyed spending a lot of time on the front deck and floating in the water. The hosts were generous and very easy to work with. Thank you for the memories!
We had a great stay at Stony Lake. The cottage was pristine, and well stocked with toys and activities to keep our 2 and 3 year olds busy and very, very happy. The and area was a big hit for the kids, and the adults enjoyed the great sunsets from the deck. Couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to stay in the area.
Beautiful location with all the basics for a weekend stay and close enough to Lewis adventure and farm. Great with quick communication. Clear directions on how to get to the cabin. My kids enjoyed the toys and sand pit. Adults enjoyed the view. Rustic and charming. Recommend air purifier and a bit more cleanliness if there are crawling infants as guests.
We had two families in the home and it was perfect! It has everything you need for your stay and the lake is so peaceful. Will definitely come back!!

cozy cabin in a fun location
This place lived up to its potential- access to the kayaks and the river is awesome. Foosball in the basement made for a fun family tournament and the owners were very attentive to our needs before and during our stay. Stony lake is a hidden gem.
Very pretty property with Great Lake access. Updated kitchen and living were great with the whole family. Close to Lake Michigan, Silver Lake Sand Dunes, and Lewis Family farms.
Owner gave specific directions to find location, enter home and was great at responding to questions by text or email. Home was clean, layout was great for our family! 2nd bath downstairs was conveniently located to outside patio and beach! Lake was quiet, loved that we also had access to the paddle boat and kayaks!
We rented this property for a girls' weekend and it did not disappoint. So cute! The bedrooms were nice and not at all musty. We loved Stony Lake! One highlight was being able to kayak together out to Lake MI. We also enjoyed close-by Ludington amenities and the fantastic Mexican food in neighboring Shelby. We loved our time away at this gorgeous lakeside getaway.
Stony lake was the perfect spot for a family vacation. This house was the best stocked rental we have ever been to. The kitchen had all you needed and more and there were plenty of linens and blankets. The weather was chilly while we were there but luckily the home had plenty of games to keep us busy. We were still able to enjoy the fire pit and a few local breweries! We will be back!
Our family had a wonderful time at the Lake House. Tom, our host, was very helpful with any questions we had and responded quickly. When we entered the home, there was a beautiful welcome basket with wine and and all the fixings for s'mores! The kitchen was very well stocked and we found everything new needed. There was a lovely jar in the bathroom for "things you may have forgotten" - such a thoughtful gesture! Very comfortable beds, too We especially enjoyed the easily accessable, beach - shallow and sandy. This would be very nice for families with small children, however we adults thoroughly enjoyed relaxing and floating in the warm shallow water There were paddle boards and kayaks available, and our daughters used them to go from our beach to Lake Michigan. They loved it! There was plenty of seating available on every level. The sandy fire pit area was a family favorite! We used it every night. We had such a wonderful time, we are thinking of returning! Thank you for sharing your beautiful Lake House.

Clean, Comfortable and Charming
We stayed in New Era for my daughter’s wedding in early October. This gem was found by my son-in-law whose family lives in new era. It’s off the beaten path, nestled quietly on the north shore of Stony Lake. I unplugged, logged off and enjoyed beautiful Michigan in all its glory. I can still smell the fresh, crisp autumn air.
The house is big enough for a group of 9. The beds are very comfortable, clean bedding and comforters, lots of pillows, washer, dryer. Nice large bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and utensils. (bring your own corkscrew). Great appliances and large table to hold the whole family. I stopped in Muskegon for groceries and I’m glad I did, because once there I didn’t want to leave. Fabulous view of Stony Lake in the family room. Quiet surroundings.
There’s a nice deck, dock and sandy area in the front of the cottage facing Stony Lake. Plenty of toys for the kids, chairs and table to enjoy dinner outside, foose-ball, and even a row boat for a ride around the lake. The owners do a great job keeping the place clean and nicely decorated. It’s the perfect get away and I can’t wait to go back next year. Book early!
This year we decided to start renting a cottage for a week every summer and figured we would try one this summer, and another the next, and so on, until we found one that we loved. We weren’t expecting the first one we stayed at to be the one we loved! I’m not sure where to start with a review; there’s so many things that made our vacation perfect! We absolutely loved having a sandy beach for the kids to play in (we have a 7 month old and a 3 year old) and also grass to play yard games in. This cottage has everything you need for a lake getaway from sand toys, water tubes, fishing poles, life jackets, yard games, to board games to play on cooler days! The kayaks and paddle boat are an added bonus! We were never bored at the cottage, and the views from the deck are beautiful of the lake. The home was clean and we loved the lakehouse feel! The cottage is also perfectly located. We went to Silver Lake for the dune rides, ice cream, Craig’s Cruisers, and the Cherry Hill Market. Then another night we cruised over to the Oval Beach to watch the sunset over Lake Michigan. There are so many local attractions and markets, that if you did feel the need to leave the cottage for a bit, you’ve got options! Last but not least, the owners are so accommodating! Tom made sure we had everything we needed and was quick to answer any questions. He made sure we knew if someone would be stopping out, as there was a surveyor that came the week we were there. The communication made us feel like the owners genuinely want your family to have the best experience, and I think that always just adds to the trip :) We can’t wait to plan next summer!

Quiet, vintage property on small lake next to Lake Michigan
Owners lovingly decorated this 50's lake house! We loved the mid century details that remained yet the bedding, linens, decor, and outside living (including boats) were all updated modern and adorable. It got down to 60s at night...windows open and lake breeze, combined with the silence of the private location, we all slept better than we have in years! No central A/C but we had cooler than normal weather for august so it was great! Owners supplied fantastic tower fans for every room to keep it cool! The kids' bunk room was PERFECT and allowed everyone space to spread out. Master room bed was so comfy! The one bathroom was a bit dicey with 6 people but we made it work. Having kayaks and the paddle boat was amazing to be able to take off whenever we wanted to. The sand bottom lake area in front of property was great to wade in to catch fish...caught many small bass👍🏻 Water was pretty chilly so didnt enjoy swimming like we wanted to. It was really fun to take the kayaks across the lake, through the creek, and out to Lake Michigan! A great way to spend a couple of hours. Owners had tubes to do creek ride but we liked being able to steer in kayaks around the trees and "muck" on the sides of the creek...to each his own!😉 Great beach at Lake Michigan. Would rent a boat next time so we could enjoy Stony Lake more and pull kids on tubes! Grill could be replaced but we made it work and allowed extra time to cook and monitor the food. We brought all our own food for a week and We had absolutely EVERYTHING we could have needed! Perfect electric skillet for bacon, tupperware to use for leftovers, beautiful pottery to serve food, and plenty of cabinet space to put our stuff. Outdoor table and umbrella were perfect every night for dinner and we enjoyed coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening lounging in the chairs by the water. Family room furniture not too comfy but vintage...we brought extra blankets so just covered them for a little extra softness. Movie and game selection was terrific when not outside by the bonfire!! Saw eagles right on property diving for fish, a black squirrel, and two little snakes sunning themselves on nearby rocks every morning. Easy drives to nearby Hart for brewery, bakery, and groceries. Awesome pottery shop minutes away. Great ice cream down the street. Amazing pies, fresh bread, peaches, and Lavender maze at market 5 mins away. So fun and loved our stay.
The home was well appointed. The weather did not cooperate with us.
Probably the only negative was the small child staying next door literally cried non stop and it got to be pretty annoying. It was difficult to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the lake. We were glad they left after a couple days.
