This was our first trip as a family to New York. It’s an expensive place, we have high standards but also a budget to work with. This stay satisfied both. Like other reviewers said, it was clean. Immaculate. Highly polished hardwood floors, granite, and the flooring in the kitchen and bathroom were easy to sweep and wipe down.
The lobby entrance was cleaned everyday. There are no pictures of that, and it’s beautiful and well secured with two security doors.
Another feature was being on the second floor, even though we had to carry our bags up one flight of stairs, that was not a problem as the marble staircase is wide.
On Friday and Saturday nights, people down on the street could be heard from the main bedroom but it didn’t affect our sleep.
I was a bit concerned about having my teen daughters sleep on blow up beds, as they usually lose air, but this didn’t happen. They had a good sleep through the 10 days we were there.
The size of the place was adequate for the 5 of us. Even just having the 1 bathroom when we are used to having 3 wasn’t a problem. The water flow from the shower head was good and it was nice to have a window in the bathroom ( it has privacy glass)
The location was terrific! Only a couple blocks off of Central Park, it was lovely to walk it.
The proximity to the subway was fantastic. Only 3 blocks to both the 103 and 110 Cathedral Parkway. We took the subway everywhere, from 5am to 10:30 pm at night. There were always lots of people around and we felt very safe. They were very clean in comparison to the terminals downtown. We went to Lower Manhattan twice, and using the express trains it was a quick ride. I highly recommend seeing the Tenement Museum and Auschwitz exhibit at the Jewish History Museum.
It was very nice to get away from the overly crowded, noisy, touristy streets in midtown and come back uptown to where this apartment is.
There are some really nice markets on Broadway, which was only a couple avenues up. There was also a fresh bagel place and tons of restaurants in every direction. We ate at BVLD the first night and it was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised when we talked up the parkway one night, and ran into the iconic Tom’s restaurant from Seinfeld! The breakfast and lunches were good and the staff was very pleasant!
So, to recap; if cleanliness, location, and budget are on your list of priorities, I highly recommend staying here. You won’t be disappointed.
