There's also a thermostat-controlled wood pellet stove (pellets are provided) for nights when you want a flickering fire. Summer stays cool with mini-split in the main living area and a window unit in the master bedroom just use fans and throw open the french doors. The stone patio offers outdoor dining, a gas grill and fire pit. The wildflower field, only steps away, connects to a nature preserve and Van Buskirk Gorge with many waterfalls. Beautiful Cottage Seeks Ideal Guest: Comfortable, artfully designed, hand crafted yurt nestled into vibrant garden seeks visitors for memorable stay. If you like nature, hiking and gorge walks, if you are tired of cookie cutter hotel rooms or antique stuffed B & B's, if you want something unique and delightful let's get together for one night or many weeks! Hey, I know I'm just a 'luxury apartment in the round' but who says places can't have personality! Please write my caretaker and come visit me!
Talk About Kid Friendly!: Climbing Vine Cottage began as a playground and school for young gardeners. Small hands helped grow fruits, vegetables and flowers for their families and our local soup kitchen Loaves and Fishes. Children raised butterflies, caught frogs and identified bugs with the yurt as our indoor classroom. Children will be delighted to sit at the child's table for 4 and use the beading and drawing materials or play with the games and puzzles. There's a play kitchen, tea set and apron, plus baskets with legos, blocks and a well-stocked children's book shelf. Additionally you'll find kid-friendly-adaptive-devices like a step stool, potty seat, and low bench.
For adults without kids don't worry, when we know you're coming we place these materials out of the way, on shelves, etc.
Perfect for a Romantic Getaway: Climbing Vine Cottage makes it easy to find the time for each other. Cook together in a beautiful kitchen or get take out. Cozy up by the fire or climb in bed and watch tv. Better yet, climb up to the loft to watch the stars. Explore the forest and gorge in privacy surrounded by peace and beauty.

Our intention was a quiet stay with access to hiking in the nearby state parks. We enjoyed the yurt with our dogs and found it to have all the amenities we needed for a pleasant stay.
This place was a whimsical gem! Perfect for two tired mammas to get away, hike, and relax. The gardens are beautiful, and Michelle is a fantastic host!
It's clear that this is a cherished and well-maintained property! The host was warm, friendly and welcoming; without her recommendations, we would've missed some of the most beautiful sights to see in Ithaca! Treman park nearby is a must-see.The yurt was super comfortable, and we felt lucky to be a small part of its history. There is a nature reserve behind the property, a beautiful gorge within walking distance. Highly recommend this stay, for anyone wanting a special experience in Ithaca!
First time in a yurt. Great place to stay. Comfy beds. Beautiful garden and Michelle let us pick fruits and vegetables. Lots of hiking, biking and waterfalls to see in the area and Michelle was very helpful in making recommendations.
The yurt was in a quiet location. Close enough to everything that a simple drive brings you to groceries, restaurants, the commons and the waterfalls. Far enough away to enjoy a peaceful bbq at the end of the day. Clean yurt, and Michelle was very responsive when we had a question. We hope to enjoy her yurt again some day soon!
We had such a wonderful family vacation at the Climbing Vine Cottage. The host provided coloring supplies, toys, & books for our children. My husband & I enjoyed relaxing in front of the pellet stove. & to our surprise, we even experienced our first snow of the season during our stay. So grateful for the hosts quick responses & recommendations for local restaurants & activities. I highly recommend this spot for your next family getaway!
The (3-6 person) yurt experience is truly wonderful. The yurt itself has an herb garden and 2 koi ponds onsite. Michelle is a gracious and kind hostess who ensured we were well taken care of. The yurt itself is very clean and comfortable and even comes with fresh local coffee! Based on the season, you may need insect (tick) repellent if you plan to traipse through the wildflower fields and woods nearby. We would love to stay here again and hope to do so in the near future.

The owner, Michelle was very friendly and made sure we were comfortable. We loved being able to bring our lab as we spent our days hiking in the State Parks. We also spent much time admiring the many waterfalls, visiting Cornell University and the Botanic Gardens. The yurt was a bit pricy for the the accommodations and the kitchen lacked a few items needed for preparing meals. It was nice to have the smart tv to watch the Bills game on Sunday.
This adorable yurt was CLEAN and comfortable. We really loved the interior spaciousness and the cozy loft for the kids, as well as the beautiful central skylight.
Our favorite part, though, was our SUPERhost Michelle. She was the perfect balance of available without being in-your-face. She was incredible with our kids teaching them how to feed chickens, gather eggs, tell the difference between koi fish and goldfish, and pick raspberries and zucchinis. She also went out of her way to show us the hiking path to the wonderful secluded waterfalls ten minutes from the yurt.
Extra bonus treats were the natural soaps and cleansers in the yurt, the fridge dispenser with cold water ready-to-go, and the fully stocked kitchen where we were able to cook a feast every night.
Thanks, Michelle, for a fantastic family vacation and treasured memories
The yurt and property were in really good shape, and the flower garden off of the back porch was such a nice spot for coffee! My dog enjoyed the little loop for a walk in the morning as well
This was truly the best and most unique VRBO we've ever had! The garden is remarkable and the Yurt itself is beautifully appointed and spacious. The bed is comfy, and we both slept like babies. We will 100% be back!
Our favorite stay of all times! The gardens were peaceful and beautiful the yurt was spacious with all the amenities one might need. The hosts were so gracious and helpful in recommending local places of interest and restaurants. The location was convenient to downtown Ithaca as well as surrounding parks and lakes.
A yurt with a lot of rooms. Bedroom, loft, bathroom. And open LR,DR,Kitchen. A beautiful garden out front.Walking paths for dogs. Was our 1st yurt stay. Very close to Gorges and grocery and resturants too.Itica is 10min away.
Our three young kids (3, 6, 8) loved the Yurt! It was nice to escape for a few days, and Michelle was a great hostess! We enjoyed local waterfall hikes and the children's Sciencenter was amazing. We'll be recommending Michelle and Climbing Vine to friends who also need a fun place to stay.
We had a great stay here and our host was lovely. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a simple yet comfortable place to enjoy nature and get away.
It’s located between Watkins Glenn and Ithaca. The yurt was comfortable, quiet and relaxing. We had a great vacation and appreciated using the yurt as our home base.
The property was beautiful. Short paths to stroll and we had the opportunity to pick fresh apples and pears to enjoy with our meals. Very cozy yurt that had everything we needed. Acommodating and helpful host! We would certainly come back again.
Nice quiet place to stay. Very convenient for traveling with our dog. Nice trail for dog walking right outside the door. Close to Ithaca. Our first stay in a yurt!
