The Cataloochee Tiny Home on the Pigeon River
Perched above the Pigeon River to show off the view this 10x34 Tiny Home with additional loft space has all the conveniences of a conventional home. The real attraction though is the outdoor wilderness location because you will be surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest and just a stone's throw away from Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This location is just 55 minutes from both Asheville and Knoxville. Dollywood, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are all about 40 minutes away. We're outside the urban hustle and bustle and are situated in the Pigeon River Gorge area. This area is famous for whitewater rafting. You can hike 2 trails without leaving the property. One of the trails is "Buzzards Roost" listed on the all trails app. Please note we have river access so that you can fish, watch rafters, or relax by the water and enjoy the sounds. To access our river area, there is a separate parking area by the trailhead, with a walk way to the river. We are situated between 2 interstate exits making the trip to your cabin easy in night or day and summer or winter. We supply all you will need including free firewood. The only thing you need to bring is your sense of adventure. If this is unavailable please see our other listing, The Leconte.

Perfect place to stay when wanting to raft, hike, and enjoy the outdoors. The tiny house was cute, clean and comfortable and we could watch the raft trips float by from our front patio. We would definitely stay there again if back in the area!
We had a great time. It was very clean and the host told us about a hiking trail that was on the property. We enjoyed a fire in the evening and had a very relaxing time. I recommend staying here.

We thought this place was adorable and just right for our family. Its close to the main freeway so an easy stop for a road trip. Our kids loved the loft and said it was the best part of our vacation. Very accommodating hosts!
What a wonderful little spot. The tiny home is the perfect amount of space and the location could not be better. The river is across the street and the park is only a 15 minute drive. The hosts are very kind and communicative. 10 out of 10 would recommend
We stopped here one night on our way to SC and truly this property is adorable and super functional to be a tiny home. It was clean and easily accessible and was perfect for us for one night! The view was also beautiful in the morning! The host also was so kind and communicated with us clearly!
Clean house, great view of the river. Fun experience staying in a tiny home! Easy access to river as well. Head's up to anyone that experiences dizziness or vertigo-the house is on a trailer chassis so my wife and I could feel the house slightly rocking as the other (or the kids) moved around, especially in the loft.
If you love the taste of adventure and the great outdoors, this is your next trip! This mobile home offers a great location for Appalachian and Smokies hiking, whitewater rafting, zip lining, and isn’t all too far from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. While we were out of the house for the majority of the trip, it was truly the building block for new memories, new (and old) laughs, and a place to come together for quality time. It was very well kept and served all of our needs. The only thing to be mindful of is if there are any accessibility needs for groups of 3 plus - the loft can be a little difficult to maneuver in, for those who may have challenges with bending over.
We really enjoyed our stay at the tiny house. Our host was very responsive to questions we had. It felt more spacious than I expected, probably because there was outdoor space for our kids to run. There was not a playground, at least we didn't see one, but we also didn't ask the host for information about that so I suppose there could be one that we just didn't see. Our little boy really loved sleeping in the loft (but be aware that there is not a railing). We had everything we needed to cook what we wanted to cook, and the kitchen was well stocked considering that it was a tiny home. But if you have specific kitchen utensils you are really going to want or are planning to do a lot of indoor cooking, you may want to bring some extra kitchen items. Everything was clean. The outdoor area was nice, firewood was provided, and within a couple of minutes drive there was an access point to the river where our kids loved to play. It was convenient to access the national park (Cosby area). There is a security camera outside which we did not realize before arrival.
The bathroom is surprisingly large even for a 6'4" guest to comfortably shower. The loft is adorable and cozy. There is no dining space inside but with all the seating provided we popped up a little fold out table I brought for a nice dinner inside during a bad storm since we couldn't use the great picnic table outside.Very well kept unit and property. I misinterpreted the picture of the picnic table and river as being level. To access the water you actually have to walk down the road a little ways because most of it is too steep and covered in brush. The dam lets out (maybe seasonal?) late afternoon for 100s of white water rafting boats to come down so be aware that the sweet babling sections and rock island turn into flooded rapids quickly. Only big wish was that there was a skillet in the home. The stove top is one burner and one warmer, there were 3 good quality pots but no pans. I love outdoor cooking and there is a nice grill with provided propane outside and a campfire area. The fact that it stormed almost the whole time we were there is probably the only reason not having a pan was even relevant. I would definitely stay here again especially if I could get friends/family to stay in the neighboring units. It would be great for multiple families to have the kids run around together in the yard. We had TONS of fireflies during our stay. The unit is professionally cleaned and we were able to get into it almost an hour before check-in time since it was ready.
We stayed as a family of 4, and we really enjoyed the home, the accessories, and the location. The blue house has an upstairs loft, but we didn't realize it would be crawl on your knees height. Our son is fairly tall, and he opted to sleep on the couch because he was concerned about hitting his head. That said, daughter slept up there and both mom and dad went up andndown without problem. The stairs are a very large height, but if you pay attention you should be fine. The kitchen area has great supplies. We travel with a few things since my husband is a chef / sommelier, but there were some nice utensils (kitchen knife) and thoughtful details on the pots/pans and coffee area. There is a 2-eye cooktop, a microwave, and Keurig coffee statin inside. There's a propane grill outside, but you'll need to use the lighter in the house because the ignition doesn't seem to work. On the porch, there's a picnic table for outdoor dining with a beautiful view of the river. There is also a fire pit (that we didn’t use) with two chairs to relax. To the side, there's a nice campfire area (we didn’t use this either).Behind the house and directly up the hill is a rather strenuous hike to Buzzard's Roost (seriously, 3 miles one way that gains 1300 feet). You can walk from the house, or you can drive down to park on the road and access the Stone Mountain Trailhead there. This is a great spot, and we do plan to return in the future.
We enjoyed our brief stay at this lovely tiny home with beautiful views of the Pigeon River. The owners thought of everything we would need and I loved the decor! Walkable trails just steps away and close to favorite trails in the Smokies. We will be back!
We loved it and hope to come back someday. The house is exactly like the pictures and it was lovely and cozy! We had a wonderful time by the fireplace and that was our favorite part.
We had a great weekend get away trip! Tiny home was exactly as described and had everything we needed. Everything was clean and ready for our stay. We brought our golden doodle and there was plenty of space for him to play and even had a spacious grass area. Highly recommend!!
This tiny home and property were well maintained and clean. We had the amenities described in the listing, and the owner was quick to respond to messages. Sitting on the patio and watching pigeon river was relaxing. We would definitely recommend staying at this home.
We love this rental. It's our second time staying here and we love our hosts!! Leslie is so sweet and quick to answer any issues or locations of Walmart etc. perfect for a small family. We love that it is away from the hustle and bustle.
This tiny house may have been my favorite VRBO rental ever! The location was fantastic with great views of the river. The house was clean and comfortable. The owners thought of every little detail for convenience. There was plenty of space for me and my 22-year-old son to hang out. I would 100% recommend and I’m going to try to plan another trip here this summer.
