The Black Lion Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Would highly recommend staying here, the staff were very friendly our room was lovely and spacious with a really nice bathroom and a good shower. If you don’t want a lot of stairs to climb then ask for rooms 1 to 7 as there were only one lot to climb. The breakfast was good, not a great deal to choose from but it was nice. The bar area was good and the drinks wasn’t that expensive, it’s in a good location on the high street with other bars and restaurants not too far away."

"Free Wi-Fi. Helpful & friendly staff. Good breakfast & plenty of options. Very hot week. A fan was provided & we were able to open the window however, the locals drinking outside were quite noisy & stayed after midnight a few nights. Popular for camper and as well. Ate supper there one evening & it was nice. The room was as expected, although could benefit from a freshen up. Reasonable prices & great location to use as a base to enable you to visit many places."

"Couple of teething problems, swiftly dealt with by our host. Lovely setting, splendid Swedish hot tub and enough kitchen equipment to cook some quite complex meals. We visit the area quite regularly from Carmarthenshire, so that we can purchase lobster, mussels and spider crab (the Welsh Lobster Company) and fantastic fresh fish, scallops and cockles (the Fish Plaice), both on Milford Haven Fish Docks, about a 25 minute drive from the Little Retreat. We would visit again. Our rather elderly lab loved the freedom of pottering in the field prior to the heat of the day. Very comfy bed to boot! Thank you for making our stay comfortable and quite special, as it may be the last time we get to take Murphy on his holibobs."

"A delightful relaxing cottage, which had all we required, and a spacious dog friendly garden, set in peaceful countryside surroundings. Laura was a friendly and helpful host.There are plenty of places to visit including Newport just a 5 min drive, and Fishguard about 20 mins. There is a fabulous little hidden beach you can walk from the cottage through some woodlandsWe had a lovely time and would definitely like to visit again sometime.Lynn and Carol"
